I like how a marketing point back then was "93 percent of all trucks for more than a decade are still on the job." Now its all about cool new features like wifi and usb ports.
I know you think the main selling point of any vehicle would be reliability but most people now adays use cars and trucks as a status symbol.
It's because most people who buy trucks nowadays don't use them for working
It was a nice play on words. If it is not roadworthy, it would not be tagged . Notice the words say " 9 out of 10 registered " not " 9 out of 10 sold"
@@marcowulliampopirers2216 I work a corporate job and most of the trucks in the parking garage are sitting on lift blocks and 35" tires. They use them to drive to their office job and that's it.
"aerodynamicallt designed for the 80s"
well, that's 100% true
They put effort and action to these old commercials.
HALON747 hell yeah! that barrel roll blew my mind, I doubt many other manufacturers before or since then have done such wild stunts haha
James Stevick as I read that it was happening
Baja warrior same
bever
nowadays they just kinda animate all of it, they never actually REALLY test them
Chevys response: let's throw a tool box in it
The California Garage XD SO TRUE...look it punctures...when Ford literally hangs other fords from.their trucks, jumps their own cars, and fucks them up for views, Chevy just shows a toolbox and says they're second to Ford and dodge...reres
The California Garage lol
It also punctured the steel bed in the Chevy. Plus at the time that video was posted, Ford had changed to a different Aluminum supplier. But the F150 is made from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. In a few years the GM trucks will be made from Aluminum as well.
The California Garage lol ikr
The California Garage hahhahahahaaha
Ford, Chevy, and Dodge Lets make trucks great again.
The early 80's fords looked great in my opinion
back when America was America!
*yeah back when our presidents were white, our gays couldn't marry, and our fries had beef in 'em!*
🎶 *_MURICA! BULIT FORD TOUGH LIKE A ROCK ON THE BACKS OF CAPITALIST SWEATSHOPS!_* 🎶
PAKTRA, you're just bitter because you were born wrong
Damn right, sky diver.
When women had no rights and Men treated them like garbage.
White presidents are such a bad thing aren't they? Race baiter lol
:49 aerodynamic design? The thing is a brick!
AZDuffman lmao right
AZDuffman it has the aero dynamics of a Mobil home
house
AZDuffman And a sleeper for your gay lover!!
AZDuffman You have to rember back then a cab over semi was considered aerodynamic
I feel a strange urge to buy a ford pickup now. Also; patriotic.
Ebenezer Switch ...looks like those adverts are working...still
Unlike some other brands, Fords are made in the USA.
Buy a Ford and laugh as you pass by a broken down Chevy on the road
Ford is an actual patriot, no hemophobe no racism just good trucks a and loving america
I actually have an 83 Ford right now. Had it for 12 years now and still running strong with it's under powered 5 litre v8. Drove it today.
The Ford Inline 6 is indestructible.
rompn4x I had a 1969 F100 with a 240 straight 6 and 3 on the tree. Unstoppable!
rompn4x couldn't pull a greased string out of a cat's ass
bong man with ten men pushing it.
Carla Rodgers My 1980 F-100 in line six has been going strong for 36 years and still runs in tip top shape with only the water pump ever being replaced
rompn4x that's why they quit producing it. you could not kill one if you tried. Ford needed some revenue. lol
Wish the still made trucks like this today 🍻
shaped like a barn so You get the best aerodynamic technology available to date.
it was like 40 yrs ago 😘 they couldnt have thought of any better shape
I can't believe they said aerodynamic And cab over in same breath. It's like saying driving A billboard down the road is fuel efficient.
steiger 256 Well it could be. Depends on the angle the billboard is in! lol
It was - back in those days dude....they were all built like that.
But did you know 93% of Fords are still on the Job?
If the billboard has a tree on it. You're good
Haha aerodynamic as a barn
I still drive my dad's 1986 Ford F-150.
It looks similar to these older trucks.
It only gets 12 miles to the gallon now, but it keeps going .
(It has the 302 V8 engine)
Why can't we have this instead of stupid ads like the chevy ones nowadays..
Joe Katama because ford supports gay rights
Joe Katama you mean tge rigged bias ones?
sterling day Yes
Joe Katama yep
Nice profile pic 👍
nowadays they drop a metal tool box on the bed to prove trucks r tough.ill take 1 of those fords over a new 1 anyday
MaCs dRiVe LaCs in that commercial none of those trucks were "tough" they both got punctured.
+MysticCrew836 would like to see a chevy or ford haul ass up a cynder block or log mountain in today's commercial.
MaCs dRiVe LaCs I have a 87 f150 300 straight 6 and a 4 speed standard for 2500
MaCs dRiVe LaCs the commercial was fake it got exposed like 7 times silly chevys
MaCs dRiVe LaCs yeah i miss when trucks were advertised as tough work trucks now its like oh you have passenger room and a 4 foot bed incase you have something to haul home.
"Aerodynanmic Design" LMAO
BadAssEngineering, inr it's basically a box on wheels
Aerodynannic Design is Ford C9000 cabover
You’re damn right. And in the 80s you’d like it.
loved it, my favorite was "Ford, it carries the Toyota" LOL
Ford is and always has been the best!
300 inline six it's immortal still
Makir Avila yep i got a 95!
but still has no balls. the MoPar 318 is a great motor because it makes good power and is freaking bullet proof. l have seen people dish out all kind of hell on those motors and they still run like new. getting sand in the cylinders, pulling out of old junk yard cars, running without oil, even running without a carb and just pouring gas in the intake manifold. great motor!!
But can you get 1 Million miles without changing any major parts
they are still going strong i have a Ford f 150 truck 4x4 model 89 built ford tuff 👍
nathan schmidt sell it to me lol
nathan schmidt got an 84 Ford and it's still goin strong too
My grandfather's 78 E100 still runs great. It's got a 300 I6 and is 3 on the tree,he put a grill from a 79 model van because he liked the look of square headlights more than the round ones that come on the 78 stock. He also did dual exhaust with 2 bullet mufflers and relocated the exhaust pipes to dump just before the rear tires, it really gives the van a nice deep exhaust note and looks pretty badass.
I have a '66 that's still going
Same here, I have an '87 F150 4x4 XL
My grandpa has a 72 Ford f-250 he bought new, and still has it. That's built tough.
Im a huge chevy fan...
But I have to admit ford built these trucks good.
They really did. My little '67 F100 Ranger short box is built like a brick shithouse. (and the front end weighs about as much as one)
still see Ford trucks on the road today shit my neighbor drives one daily
You just became my favorite Chevy owner
I'll admit, as much as I talk big about Ford's, honestly as long as It's either a Ford, a Chevy, or a Toyota, It's a good truck.
.
They never make any commercials with logical evidence that the trucks are good now these days.
Probably because chevy gave them all the attention with their excuse of a commercial. XDD
I'd like to see them do the same tests to their new trucks
That was one of the most entertaining videos I have seen in a while on RUclips. My buddies and I have put the old fords through there paces they are tough for sure!
Wow! I remember seeing the "Cinder Block Mountain" ad as a child---That's still impressive today!!
I wish trucks were made this strong now
TheCrazyOtter Ikr. Thanks Obama.
I wish they still looked like that.
got a 93 bronco with 324k miles built Ford tough
FORD TRUCKS!!!💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸
Jose 06 💪😂
O hey a steeler and a ford fan same here
The good ole days when they lied out their ass about fuel mileage numbers
you can get 24 mpg when driving empty, driving withing speed limit and accelerate within 1800 RPM :P
when you haul fat chicks, gravel and drive like a maniac...there goes your 24 MPG.
Christopher Paradise no mu h has changed
Christopher Paradise also actual HP as well lol
My grandpa got 27 highway with the bed empty.
well there was an energy crisis going on then and it was the only way they could sell a pickup truck back then, because nobody could afford gas.
it's weird how all of this commercial were filmed in the desert
its cheap
why? there are lots of rocks and things to drive over in the desert.
Better than the new ford trucks.
dekoldrick nah
You bet, and no of start/stop technology, ecoboost engines, or aluminum body horseshit.
Back when trucks were for working men and not nancies with tiny dicks on their lifted "bro-trucks" with 30 inch rims.
Y’all just can’t afford new trucks.
@@Linguist95 , your comment is oozing the fact that you can't even afford one of those 1981 Fords, basement boy.
Damn now I want a old ford truck! After seeing all these commercials.
I don't have anything against Ford, but that's really hilarious how they talk about aerodynamics with these box-like vehicles.
Basically Box with wheels as a truck lmao.
Hell, the 73-87 GM trucks were called the rounded line trucks. Yes, the square body was internally called rounded line
We had a 1980 F-150 Custom long bed with a 4 speed manual transmission over 20 years ago. I miss that truck.
Buy American buy FORD!
rhino250r Dodge!
+joseph migliore
Dodge is an Italian brand.
Yes, they are made by Fiat.
Hell yeah!!!!!
@@jumpinjojo You mean Italian Trucks? Oh ok
what the heck were they thinking on the last one?
Lol
0:50 so funny, flat box for arrow dynamic design
Justin Mccarter lol
Justin Mccarter that's bad
the first aero dinamic BRICK 👍🐂💨💩
I saw that too and laughed my ass off, what the hell is so aerodynamic about the most purest form of a brick design?!?!
Justin Mccarter its like brick on wheels
Those old commercials are really nice, the last one is impressive even for now.
back when companys actually put effort into their commercials. And I like how they try to present COE trucks as being "aerodynamic"
ROFL! Ford CL 9000: SO aerodynamic! It's about as aerodynamic as a billboard!
What does "ROLF" stand for?
😐
Rolling on the floor laughing
@@pswitch9553 "Rotfl"
Love those older commercials! 300 6 cyl is a great engine ,,they need to MAKE it again
They don't want to sell anyone anything that good.
Cool, and I love the old Ford truck styles.
If only they made advertisements like this in this day and age
That would be kick ass, watching brand new truck being bashed and thrown around
“It can actually carry the Toyota”
Great! here in my country they did a nice one: they drop a '73 F-100 from a C-130. good 'ol commercials. Nowadays here most pick-up customers preffer some leather seats and comfy trucks to say: "it drives like" a car or "it makes 200 km/h (120 mp/h"
#1 selling for over 40 yrs.
So? GM has sold more cars than Ford for the last 60 years.
+DolleHengst so gm sells more brands and owns more company's
in europe nobody buys chevy, 80's ford is the way to go 😘
Γαλανομάτα Χρυσαυγίτισσα keeps the mechanics busy
I love old Fords, but I doubt any of those puppies got 25mpg.
VinnyMartello It's all estimated, so it's not guarenteed.
Nobody gave a shit back then.
They probably tested it going downhill on a highway with the engine off. And it still only got 25 miles to the gallon.
thats still pretty good for a 292 v-8 then and now
different testing criteria back then so its hard to do a straight comparison to today - lower speeds were used for the highway testing for one.
"aero dynamic"< cabover< sure jan
flat nose cabs have the best aerodynamics. I swear lol look it up.
Love them Ford trucks!!!!
These are GREAT ads! My jaw dropped when they flipped that truck on purpose !
So this is why people come to my channel talking about they getting 25mpg with their 300 inline 6.
Hi lol
Back when men were men and trucks were trucks. Ford should be making commercials like this still.
tho i have never seen an old ford like these on the roads, but I still see those Toyota
even commercials back in time was better nowaday!
The only commercials I remember are Chevy's. I am a Ford guy, but the "Like a rock" Chevy truck commercials were very catchy.
Instead of 'Like a Rock' it's, In the shop, oh back again, In the shop.
30 mpg!?! 😂 for can't even do that with a 4 banger single cab Ranger
it must be a weight thing because the current f150 cannot get that good mpg and.. its on a aluminum body!
Gerardo Linares With all the safety features like airbags, rear view cameras, backup sensors, etc. The trucks weigh more now than they ever did. Back in the day your only safety features were lap belts, or over the shoulder belts. So 30 mpgs wasn't unheard of. especially with a six cylinder and five speed or six speed manual.
Lane Waite for those trucks it kind of was. A straight 6 is usually has the same fuel efficiency of a small block v8.
Have you ever owned a Dodge Ram from 1984 with a straight 6 and a five speed manual transmission? Cause I can assure you that truck had no problem with getting between 30-35 mpg unloaded and with two people in the cab.
Lane Waite bull shit! 😂 is that off a cliff with your foot off of the pedal? I think you might not understand well how to calculate the mpg. I've heard other people say crazy numbers on guzzlers before they knew how to figure it out as well.
The only thing I have to say to those cinder block and log "mountains" is: YIKES. Those trucks looked like they were going to come unglued and snap in half driving over that!
That 2nd clip of the semi talking about aero dynamic hahaha. I love these commercials
I have a 89 300 six and is indestructible bullet proof. 21mpg?? Lol
Built FORD Tough
Love it. Mountains of cinder blocks, rocks and logs for a Ford to climb.
With commercials like these, hell yeah I'd buy a ford truck
Wow great mpg with carbs and chiseled brick body's and today we have stream line body's and direct injection and only get tops of 18 mpg .
Goes to show all the computer stuff doesn't do much but make it hard to work on.
@@tathanbailey6225 The computer stuff is just for emissions BS! And so people can make phone calls to China while their Brats watch Disney plus in the backseats and brew hot chocolate.
can't do any offloading like that in these plastic fantastic mall finders.
off roading.
I have a 84 f150 and i love it 😍 ❤️
in my country there was an old ford pick up commercial where they tossed the truck out of a plane XD
Working truck to a luxury truck.... Sad
Trucks shouldn't be fancy, they should be badass.
Tab 13 should be utilitarian and durable.
l work in a tool rental center, and a guy was renting one of our floor sanders and he came back pissed because the sander scratched the bed of his truck. now l would be pissed too because it was a nice truck but that is the problem. you don't want to do work in a truck that is too nice to ruin and beat up on. you want a truck that can take a scratch a laugh about it, you want a truck that isn't afraid of a little character. all of these newer trucks with the shiny paint and leather seats are just a big joke.
The last trucks that could do any sort of work is the late 90s to 2008
That 5.7 liter V8 made some good power
But there is some problems like a gear somewhere in the engine is a common fail (I forgot the name of the gear)
I like my new f250 diesel lariat to be fancy as well as doing its job 100%
0:37 me running away from Chevy.😂
I love old anything
What they don't tell you about is the 3 flat tires they had as they got off cinder block mountain.
Probably didn't have to re-mortgage your home and do a 30yr plan to get your hands on one either!
300 6cyl best ford gas engine along with the 460.
They were bulletproof
The 250 I6 was a good engine, too.
ron b Those 300 straight 6 trucks would yank all the 350 V8's around, they were pulling machines.
@@zzremington the best of Ford engines was the V8 289 great gas mileage and lots of power that's why they took it out of the market.
Great ads and the last one WOW 👌🏻😊
Love the climbing over the cinder blocks and logs. These Ford trucks beat electric trucks ANY day!! I wish we could go back to the 80’s
Holy Shit 24 mpg! The hell is the government putting in modern engines?
x3 times the HP and x4-5 the Torque..
the inline 6 had good mpg for a truck but only had 115 hp if that. mpg was more like 18 highway.
I Hate Everyone Equally ethanol
What happened between the 80s and 90s? My 99 f150 has an EPA estimate of 13mpg, and it gets far worse than that. 29mpg? That's nuts!
Joshua Tellez EPA and gas company lots of bribes
Keep up the big work and also good vid
love these commercials.
The real Ford's
Yeah it said ford was built for fuel economy but I was born a Chevy fan
I currently drive a 77 F100 with a 390 to haul firewood and stone. We don't stack it either. We throw it in the bed. The most damage it has taken is a few tiny dents, and some missing paint. You can tell it has age, but it is still structurally sound. Never changed the trans. The original engine went out, but the 390 has been in it since the early 90s.I can't knock any old pickups though. They're all better than the garbage they pump out today.
I love how they sell commerical trucks on public television.
Back when Murica was Murican!
Damn right!
Alaska was not part of Canada in the early 80's...
If Ford still made commercials like this, I believe they would have a better reputation. Here, everyone hates fords because they say they 'always break down'. Probably because the snow rusts everything and falls apart.
Actually, aluminum doesn't rust
USARealMan177669 it does around the oilfields in Texas Panhandle.
uhm its actually chevys rusting like nothing, they still use wax on their brand new franes while ford and dodge e coats their frames
93 out of 100 Ford trucks are still on the job... The last 7 made it home lol
Watching that guy bash his head off the cab roof in the log commercial was hilarious
they dropped the first truck from about 3 feet in the air... that chassis got so bent lol
drop a 2016 F150 from the same height and i wonder how much stuff would fall off of it lol
Gr1pEnemy your brain got bent
& it still runs
Who would of ever thought they would see a Toyota be able to haul a Ford these days..
old Fords are the best!
best commercial ever
OK, I loved my 83 bronco with 300 in it, but 29 HWY mpg? No way. If it were true, I would never would have gotten rid of it for a higher MPG car
thats with the inline 6 not any V8
i am telling you my old inline 300 would never have gotten anywhere near that with a 4 speed that I had and tall hiway gears. Most I ever got was around 20
Jay Groom - you must have not paid attention to the video bc it says the Bronco gets 18mpg not 29
it was a straight six not a v6 and there is no way the f150 got anywhere near 29mpg unless it was going down hill the whole time. great pickups, great engine, just no way they got 29. I would believe 24 maybe
it also had to be the I6, 5-speed, 2wd, with the tallest gear in the rear they offered. my dad had one and he said he got 27mpg hwy, that's also running 55mph using premium fuel. we now have an 88 with a 302 5speed 4x4 and a 94 with I6 5speed 4x4 and they both do really well on fuel
23mpg. Fuck. The new ones barely get that now. 30yrs later. Something stinks/
Why can't they make commercials like that anymore? Those were great.
My dad had an 82 f150 same blue and white as the 83 in this video. took a trip to california and back with him.
this is when ford trucks were great
if you said before the twin beam front end, I would say yes
true
Eric Mason they still are great
some of them
Eric Mason no all of them chevy sucks
I drive a '79 F 100 like the one they dropped. It can take a beating but it cracks me up to hear the announcer say "it's nice to know it took a freefall like this without damage"! They didn't check shit. I guarantee there was damage done to that truck even if it isn't readily apparent in the video. Too funny.
Amazing
That apocalypse now reenactment around 3:00. Hahaha.. Run Charlie!!
