The video of the man trapped in his car during the Joplin EF-5 is absolutely gut wrenching. I can't imagine how helpless he must've felt in that moment.
You just got to put your seat belt on and pray it doesn't toss you in the air, not much else you can do really. I wouldn't want to be in that situation.
The one at 9:00 is probably the most brutal tornado footage I've ever seen! The growing intensity as it gets closer is nightmarish. And the fact that he just stands there motionless and quiet like he's filming a beautiful sunset makes it even more terrifying!
@@pcphotography6587 Ya. He had her lay down in their bathtub and tried covering her up on the first floor becouse they didn't have a cellar. Then for whatever reason he went upstairs. It's a miracle he even survived. But sadly she didn't survive. He got banged up pretty bad tho.
@@paulmurphy7106 to my understanding he was incapacitated in a wheelchair and that’s why his wife couldn’t get him downstairs. He thought he was going to die. That makes it even more intense.
It really does. I have this instinct to wait and watch. I can not help it. I'm messerized. Yes. I've been in a few. Was in my car for one tho that time I was honestly trying to reach safety. Other times, I was yanked away from the window just before it struck. I'm not afraid. I should be, I know that but I'm compelled to them. All my life.
@@matthewmosier8439 dunno about that one mate. There's alot of people on this compilation screaming for no use. The tornado has no ears and most of the rest of the world thinks that America is the home of over dramatic people.
My wife and I were caught in a very mild tornado (likely EF0) on the highway a few months ago... AND PEOPLE WERE IDIOTS PARKING IN THE RIGHT 2-3 LANES UNDER OVERPASSES, BLOCKING PEOPLE GETTING TO SAFETY. All because, I can only imagine, they didn't want to get hailed upon, not realizing these events blow things sideways, including hail. We were headed west as it was headed east, but we literally had to get off the highway. I was calm, saying keep driving and we'll be out of it soon, all the while checking the radar and knowing it was damn-well on top of us or we're in RFD, but not letting that be known until well-after the fact. Because panic creates bad decisions, and withholding information can prevent the panic and allow everyone to make it through it.
Tornadoes have a hypnotic effect on people. When I watch one video, I find myself falling down a seemingly endless rabbit hole. I imagine many of those people catching these on camera felt that same way in those moments, to some extent.
We often think of “fight or flight”but there’s also a third option, which is freeze. Some people just stop in their tracks and lose their ability to think critically, frozen by the fear or awe.
Honestly if if you live in the area the hail and rain generally kinda knock all that "wonder" bullshit out of your head real fast, way before the tornado shows up. I dunno how many times my first thought is "I hope my windshield isn't cracked or busted out" long before any tornado nonsense. Might be a panhandle thing but storm chasers generally avoid that whole phase or they'd need new cars constantly. I think a lot of these are just non locals, storm chasers, or areas rarely hit
Right I thought my phone fucking died or the screen turned off or something because it got fucking completely black on one of them but if you think that's eerie then you should look up the video from 9/11 where the people capture the dust coming down from inside one of their business buildings it goes from daylight to crazy black and one of them says something I think along the lines of being in the Valley of the shadow of death or something. I can't remember but I think it was something like that and it was kind of hard to hear I had to listen to it a couple times to catch it but that was some eerie ass shit. It felt more eerie then this for some reason.
The tornado at 9:00 was horrible and it killed the man’s wife and his neighbors wife and the two women were close friends. His footage is one of the scariest tornadoes I’ve ever seen and the noise it made was insane. He himself was injured badly.
I went there last year 2 times and got some pictures of concrete pads still there and some buildings with minor damage that never got repaired and also went to the restaurant that got hit by the tornado
I've seen that video so many times, knowing what happened to him and his wife, and you can almost just feel awe, resignation, and shock as it descended on him.
We had left Joplin about an hour before that tornado hit. One of the most devastating things that happened in my lifetime. My son lost ppl he knew from school
That first video is the definition of a nightmare. That Moore tornado was arguably the fastest wind speed ever recorded. This video is amazing. I haven't seen a lot of clips in this. Well done to the person that found all of these.
Then you should check out the Joplin EF5 tornado if you haven't seen any massive clips on a tornado?. Now that one was over 300 MPH and there are plenty of wild captures on that tornado.
@@swtladyjane1 Joplin to me is the scariest tornado I have ever seen. It's great you mentioned that. There's something about Joplin that's Erie and ominous. That tornado was an absolute devilish thing. I have a friend who was working in Joplin that day. He said the noise from it was something he will never forget. I no Joplin might not have broken records but man it looks scary. The ElReno was probably the closest thing to the first Moore tornado.
@@swtladyjane1 Actually, the Joplin tornado was clocked at over 200 MPH, and I heard somewhere that it was 260 MPH which would sound pretty realistic. The May 3, 1999 Moore, Oklahoma tornado was clocked at 318 MPH, and it's still the fastest tornado on record.
@@heatherstub the el Reno 2.6 mile wide tornado has also been argued as having close to 320mph winds if I’m not mistaken it was only rated and ef-3 because thankfully it mostly tracked over open field away from houses and towns that monster was the scariest tornado in modern history in my opinion
Fear, panic, and sheer terror. You can hear all of these emotions in their screams. It's like watching a whirlwind of death coming straight at you and there is nothing you can do about it. It's moments like these that make you realize everyday is a gift and mother nature has way more control over this earth than we do.
23:11 notice this tornado is spinning in a clockwise rotation. Most (not all) North American tornados spin counterclockwise. This tornado is south of the equator in South America and the usual spin is opposite of the north.
When she said "don't open the door yet! Please don't open the door yet!" I literally teared up. I have 5 kids of my own and I couldn't imagine feeling so vulnerable
As someone who has never experienced or even seen a tornado in person, I can't wrap my head around how it moves or how powerful those winds are. It doesn't feel natural.

@@ryyyan4795 whats up with that? He used that incredibly expensive IMAX film and was going to film the most incredible footage ever and make an IMAX film of it.. Then he just disappears. I know he quit but he seemed like he just had this massive chip on his shoulder. He obviously didn't like Reed for whatever reason. I always figured he was envious of Reed because Reed knew far more than Sean ever could, and Reed designed a vehicle that was more reliable and made more sense. Reed could get right in the path and Sean was usually in the wrong spot and missed. Also Reed got more attention and ended up getting better footage with regular cameras. Sean acted like he owned the idea of putting armor on a truck or SUV lol. I figure he just said " F it , I'm beat" and disappeared. I tried looking him up but most of what I find is old.
@@chadmiller2224 Are you stupid? He DID make an IMAX film. I literally saw it, on IMAX, on a school field trip when I was a kid. As soon as I recognized Sean Casey and what the film was, I got super excited because I watched the show. And he probably hates Reed for the same reason I do, his constant yelling and restating of the glaringly obvious is ridiculous and over the top. And you can't even blame editing for that because I've watched his live streams during chases and he's exactly that way in real life as well, still, to this day. I at least have a reason for my hatred of Reed, your hate of Sean seems pretty unfounded tho.
OMG!! I've been watching Tornado footage since I was in 1st grade. I've been obsessed with severe weather/mostly Tornados...over 40 yrs! This is best footage of inside Tornado footage I've ever seen! Thank you so much for making this best of all collections!!! Please, who ever sees this..forward to all your family!
Me too!! I wanted to be a storm chaser(after I saw Twister in the theater and discovered that this was actually something people made a career out of)and to this day I still want to hop in an armored car and catch a glimpse! I’ve had hundreds of dreams about them too. I live close to Henryville but wasn’t home when the tornado hit or I would have been there! But until I see one, I’ll have to settle for cheap thrills on RUclips 🫣😳
21:30 the ungodly sudden loud sound followed by a man yelling "hold on!" While people tell eachother they love you and that they love eachother, that just absolutely broke me. How horrifying and heartbreaking 💔 😢
Yeah that one was really heart-wrenching, recognising that there was a very live possibility they were going to die. So glad to hear their voices when it had passed over. Do hope the injuries weren't too bad and they rebuilt their home and lives with renewed wonder at each day we have.

That guy in his 2nd story window. That videoed a direct hit from a wedge tornado should have gotten some kind of award for most terrifying tornado footage of all time
8:54 this tornado wiped half the town off the map and killed the wife of the guy filming. They had no basement, they had no idea a tornado was coming. The guy went upstairs to get storm lanterns in case the power went out from the "storm" he looked out the window, saw the tornado and thought it was going to pass the edge of town so he recorded it. There was nowhere for him to go so when it turned in at the last second he just stood there whether in shock, fear, or just simply unbelief.

"There's the roof!" will always be one of my favorite things to hear in tornado footage. The absolute calmness in his voice at 20:30 amidst a frightening experience is just comical.
Yeah, no kidding! I mean, he sounded almost as if this has happened to him before, and it just doesn't bother him anymore. Also, he, sounded like Mordecai from the Borderlands series, lol
that guy was so lucky that if the Tornado was a higher EF he wouldnt be there saying well there goes the roof. i kinda wanna know what the front side of that place looked like after it passed by. was he just standing on the one walled porch, if so something was making sure he lived to talk about it.
I loved that too, I feel like he honestly just came to terms with whatever was coming since he couldn't do anything to stop it, I envy that ...not enough to stand right in front of it when I could easily be taking shelter though
I've been through a couple hurricanes and a couple tornados. I used to be on a hurricane response team. Nothing can prepare you for the devastation you will see. Nothing can prepare you for the fear you will feel during one. You quickly realize that the Earth is way more powerful than anything you could ever imagine.
I still lived in NJ when Sandy hit. That was one of the scariest times in my life, and I'm 62. Our area took a direct hit and it was like nothing I've ever seen before. *Everything* was gone. Just obliterated.
Pretty sure this one is the old man who just didn’t realize the danger he was in, didn’t realize it was heading straight for him or how quickly it was going. He survived, but his wife didn’t. I guess him being elderly, wanting to try his hand at catching it on camera like he sees so many people do, never realizing that he just so happened to be one of the houses that would destroyed by that tornado that day. So sad.
I heard the guy who filmed it wife died but he made it out okay. After he pulled himself out of the rubble he dug up his fridge, opened it up, pulled out a beer and said "what a day." A real man. Clem Shultz.
I think what hits me the most is that boy who had to make sure his loved ones knew he loved them. When your instinct in what you think are your last moments is to ensure that, that just speaks of incredible kindness.

The one trait I have that goes against the norm is that when I'm truly frightened, I get really quiet. While people around me are screaming, I'm just quietly riding it out, my brain going at full speed figuring out what to do. Not bragging. I'm just grateful I can do that without panicking. When I was in an F4 tornado, everyone around me was wigging out. I was just covered as best as I could be, and I was completely silent. Strange how we each react differently.
I know exactly what you mean about your brain racing a mile a minute figuring out your best path for survival. I was on a sinking boat in the Chesapeake Bay and somehow my brain pumped the breaks on hysteria and just kicked in to high gear and I just knew exactly what my steps would be if shit and the fan met. The Coast Gaurd saw the accident and was there to save us before the boat went completely under.
I understand what you guys mean. I can wig out over something little while I’m overwhelmed and exhausted. But when the biggies came (tornados) is tangly was like you two. Completely quite, with mind thinking what was my best course of action. But, when I realized that the house (wasn’t at my house) had no where to get for safety, I really because calm. I believe this was, “ the peace that passes understanding”. Everything was way beyond my control. He was in control. And I guess…..whatever. This definitely was not me. This incredible peace that came that one time was beyond me. God bless🙏🙏🙏❣️
I'm one of those people too. When chaos is insuing, I'm calm and collected and can help everyone around me (the best I can of course) while everyone else reacts the opposite. It's only later after it's all over and done with, that I start to process all the absolute worse case scenarios (wether they happened or not), and then wig to myself... It definitely is strange how we all react differently to different scenarios....
I just read what I texted a few days ago. 🙄I know what I meant… but I typed all crazy. If I did not know what I meant to convey, I wouldn’t be able to understand a thing I typed. I was meaning to explain that like you guys, I’m calm on most big emergencies. But when a tornado was coming straight at me, and I realized there was no place I could get my doggies and me to safety, instead of panicking, I had a calmness and peace that no matter what was fixing to happen, I was ok with whatever. Everything was completely out of my control. I have always been very afraid of really bad weather, mostly tornadoes. So the peace I suddenly had was something way beyond me. “The peace that passes understanding”, it speaks of in the Bible. We cannot control the events going on in our world, and there are horrific events right now. Weather and otherwise. I’ve learned at this point in my life in Whom to place my fears, anxiety, etc. God is with us, no matter what is coming at us. Although many times He does not take away our troubles, He has promised us that He will go through them with us. I learned this the night of this tornado, and the very trying events that came afterwards. It has taken many years for me to get this, but I’m so very thankful I finally did!! God bless and protect all of you❣️🙏🙏🙏

There’s always one person going, “we should take cover,” and a second person saying, “we’’re good, we can film a little longer.” Great collection of footage.
That farm family in the underground concrete block shelter with the EF 5 going right over them, you could hear that heavy steel door creak and groan. It held but hell the hair on the back of my neck was up hearing and seeing that. Whoever built it did a hell of a job. An EF 5 direct hit is a severe test of any shelter you can create.
And the literal ONLY way to test it IS by using it. Talk about taking a massive massive gambling risk. And even then, it holds for one, will it KEEP holding up for future ones?
Wanna know the scariest part? That very storm actually managed to rip the roof off a storm cellar during it’s life cycle. That’s how violent this tornado was. Even in a storm shelter, that family could’ve still been killed. They are indeed very, VERY lucky.
At 33:41 When that dude does not want to take cover and says "I wanna see what it does to them trees... Don't you want to see waht it does to them trees?" Always gets me lol

I've watched sooo many tornado videos because being in the direct path of a tornado is fascinating- and terrifying to me. There are some really good clips I've never seen before in this. Awesome compilation!
Could you please tell me at what time stamp was that one? I can only hear these videos, as I'm totally blind, and I'm familiar with some of these videos. I know the one at 2800 or there abouts is the Halem, Nebraska tornado. I remember that one well after hearing it on tv, as it was described at 2.5 miles wide which is 1 10th of a mile less wider than the El Reno, Oklahoma tornado.
This was the most intense tornado footage I’ve ever seen! Edge of my seat and tense the whole time. I’m literally exhausted. Thank you for putting this together.
That footage from 10:30 on to about 12:35 from the specialized ground hugging vehicle I've seen before - and it's some of the most incredible up close footage of a strong tornado - especially in the headlights .. something hits the windshield with such velocity it creates a bright flash ..
@@lyleswavel320 I actually found this footage 2 days ago, it's from Sean Casey's team and they were in TIV2. There are extended videos of it showing aftermath and everything.
I started watching this thinking I would come and write some witty comment. But honestly, this got me emotional. Having been through 2 weak tornadoes in Alabama (EF1/EF2) including one in the morning on April 27th, 2011, and understanding the fear of the moment when you hear the otherworldly sound of rushing and whistling wind INSIDE your home while things are being destroyed around you, it is hard to not relate to these people. Tornadoes have fascinated me since childhood and I watch as many videos as I can. But when you experience a direct hit by one and its aftermath (surfacing to see EVERYTHING being different after just a moment), it changes you. Hearing these people in their vulnerability, some believing they were meeting their fate, it hits pretty hard.
@Moon Cricket Bro why are you nasty? Like why am I seeing you all over the comments being disgusting? What's laughable is you as a human thing. The saddest thing is your lack of empathy, because it happening to you or someone you love would probably just make you laugh too. What a shame to be related to or know you lol. Waste of breath.
I don't believe there's any such thing as a weak tornado. Any level on the scale can cause such damage. We had an f1 in my state this year and it killed 5 people. Nothing more powerful
The Joplin video with all the people in the cooler always nearly brings me to tears. I'm not sure what it is about this video in particular compared to others like it.
Was that the one where the guy tells everyone he loves them, and the woman is praying? That one brought tears to my eyes. I don't usually cry watching these tornado videos, but that one just affected me.😢
Its amazing how many people don't realize that standing by a window/glass door is extremely dangerous. The wind isn't what kills people in tornadoes, it's all the flying debris/shrapnel.
And if it seemingly stops moving, assume it's headed directly at you and get to safety! Don't keep staring at it! Saw that earlier this year with the Arkansas tornadoes. The video of the lady standing right outside a door and recording it and almost getting sucked away
29:09 i actually live VERY close to where that one happened. i can still remember sitting in the basement, home alone fearing for my life, wondering if that tornado was going to come for me. i and many others were lucky it didn’t come through where i lived near, but others weren’t so lucky. the day after the tornado, my parents got some supplies to drop off to those effected by the tornado and we were in SHOCK at the damage it caused. the places we had known for our entire lives were gone with barely even a trace. debris were everywhere, and grieving families at their destroyed homes. i had family thankfully survive that tornado, but they were much closer to it than i was. sometimes it feels like it happened this year, instead of two years ago. some of the debris is still in mayfield, and every time we drive through the place, we get a reminder of how terrifying nature can be.
Makes you wonder if some of the voices you hear survived. Esp. those men in the apt. building that was leveled. Heart wrenching to hear some of these terrified people and children. Just had a min. of 12 tornadoes in OK, USA yesterday/last night.
The most terrifying memory is having a father watch it from an unsafe distance and gaslighting everyone as to his safety. It's the stuff of nightmares.
Lol. What did the son expect his dad to do at that moment 😮🤷🏻♂️. Board it up somehow in seconds or tell the tornado to stop breaking his gd windows lol 😂 🤦🏻♂️.
22:25 - 22:50 They’re so polite, even though an F5 just went over them. Lady: (calmly, politely) “Someone is on my back.” A few seconds later… “Am I hurting anybody?” Such concern for others. She and I could be friends, because I’d be saying those exact same things. ♥️
the cameraman saying "I love you, I love everybody" as it hit the worst got me. you could tell they didnt know if it was gonna be their last time together and then after all that terror all of them being concerned for everyone else's safety before their own is both heartbreaking yet beautiful
Makes me very proud to be American. In every single one of these videos, as panicked and terrified as people are, they are always so kind and respectful to eachother. You don’t always see that in these types of videos from other parts of the world.
Just wanna take a sec to thank “Clem” for the most badass footage of a tornado possibly ever captured. Thanks for your and your families sacrifice. Unintentional as it was. Still. Thanks!
I hear so often tornadoes sound like a train and I have to agree they do at times. I often listen to videos like these with headphones some many times. There's the jet engine sounding ones , giant vacuum cleaner, and then the Washington Illinois that directly impacted the house with camera upstairs that to me was almost silent till just before hitting. They all have that pulsing sound no other winds sound like and it's unmistakable, scary and I hope I never wake to that sound late one night.

That very first video is from the May 3, 1999 Moore, Oklahoma tornado. I believe the guy's name that filmed this was Chris, and it's the actual sound of those massive 318 MPH winds. Those winds were screaming!
318 MPH is ungodly. It’s inconceivable, as most people, will only ever experience (at their worst) winds of 80 - 90 MPH in their lifetimes. And 80 - 90 MPH winds are absolutely frightening and can easily rip up trees, destroy awning, street signs and telephone poles. Those poor folks that have died or lost loved ones in these ferocious monsters, my heart goes out to them.
I originally had an even more massive comment but decided to cut it down quite a bit - Just the wind howling alone in that first clip is absolutely terrifying... and then there's the fact you can't really see anything except a couple branches blowing around, debris flying, and power flashes. I've seen a billion tornado vids but what I've rarely seen is just how much they engulf you in total darkness. - 13:34 is pretty scary seeing just how fast the funnel moves away into the top right corner... gone in about 15 seconds. That Pontiac is a real trooper though - Any clips from Tuscaloosa or Joplin are automatically terrifying because, once again, swallowed by total darkness, but also just how long it took for those tornadoes to pass over. They were both absolute monsters - 33:32 Well dude, whatever it does to those trees, it'll do to you just as easily - 42:22 is a legendary clip... one of the most chilling I know of. Not all the footage is here but the dad goes out to check and there's nothing left. The entire neighborhood was demolished, he shouts their house is destroyed, his daughter cries in terror. The raw emotion and total destruction from a first person POV is extremely chilling - 45:47 The stuff nightmares are made of... right when you think you're safe in the cellar - 47:32 I was half a mile from that one! Deep in shelter long before it arrived so I never saw it, but that's a day I'll never forget. It's one of very few times I've seen a familiar area transformed by destruction
This may very well be the best tornado video footage ever put on tape …they may be the most terrifying event in nature…anybody that encounters one will never forget it….

Human curiosity vs human preservation walks a very fine line.
this is not just in humans
It really does. I have this instinct to wait and watch. I can not help it. I'm messerized. Yes. I've been in a few. Was in my car for one tho that time I was honestly trying to reach safety. Other times, I was yanked away from the window just before it struck. I'm not afraid. I should be, I know that but I'm compelled to them. All my life.

I've had years of actual nightmares involving tornadoes yet never saw one myself. I can't fathom experiencing one in person.
Same.
Can confirm that if there was a tornado i was just gaze at it till it swipes me away into the atmosphere
The way the windows get pitch black as it rolls through is so eerie
Right I thought my phone fucking died or the screen turned off or something because it got fucking completely black on one of them but if you think that's eerie then you should look up the video from 9/11 where the people capture the dust coming down from inside one of their business buildings it goes from daylight to crazy black and one of them says something I think along the lines of being in the Valley of the shadow of death or something. I can't remember but I think it was something like that and it was kind of hard to hear I had to listen to it a couple times to catch it but that was some eerie ass shit. It felt more eerie then this for some reason.

I've been through a couple hurricanes and a couple tornados. I used to be on a hurricane response team. Nothing can prepare you for the devastation you will see.

Now take that feeling... and hold on to it for hours on end. That my friend, is a hurricane.
I don't believe there's any such thing as a weak tornado. Any level on the scale can cause such damage. We had an f1 in my state this year and it killed 5 people. Nothing more powerful
@@jfleser88They’re both equally bad because Hurricanes are weaker and slower (Usually under 200 mph) while tornadoes have have wind speeds above 300.
The Joplin video with all the people in the cooler always nearly brings me to tears. I'm not sure what it is about this video in particular compared to others like it.
Was that the one where the guy tells everyone he loves them, and the woman is praying? That one brought tears to my eyes. I don't usually cry watching these tornado videos, but that one just affected me.😢
@@lisaparker4688 that's the one!
It makes me cry every time I hear the lady begging for her life.
As I read this, it’s happening in the video. Oh my god. My heart is…. wow. Wow.
@@jeffvalentine9947 same, it must of been a nightmare for them.
The scariest tornado compilation I have ever watched and hands down best one ever
yes, I have never seen a tornado video as realistic as this one, it was very immersive! Great choice, great job!
29:09
i actually live VERY close to where that one happened. i can still remember sitting in the basement, home alone fearing for my life, wondering if that tornado was going to come for me. i and many others were lucky it didn’t come through where i lived near, but others weren’t so lucky.
the day after the tornado, my parents got some supplies to drop off to those effected by the tornado and we were in SHOCK at the damage it caused. the places we had known for our entire lives were gone with barely even a trace. debris were everywhere, and grieving families at their destroyed homes. i had family thankfully survive that tornado, but they were much closer to it than i was. sometimes it feels like it happened this year, instead of two years ago. some of the debris is still in mayfield, and every time we drive through the place, we get a reminder of how terrifying nature can be.
The tornado became grinch and destroyed the chrismas spirit
Guy recording: “Let’s see what it does to them trees!”
Tornado🌪️: “Let me show you what I’m gonna do to your apartment!”😩
Yooo like 😂😂😂 wtf 😂😂
and the moaning emoji too like ?????
Makes you wonder if some of the voices you hear survived. Esp. those men in the apt. building that was leveled. Heart wrenching to hear some of these terrified people and children. Just had a min. of 12 tornadoes in OK, USA yesterday/last night.
@mooncricket8192edgy 12 year old . Your so cool bro
“Don’t worry about it, son.”
I want to be that chill.
The most terrifying memory is having a father watch it from an unsafe distance and gaslighting everyone as to his safety. It's the stuff of nightmares.
6:02 "every window in the house is breaking dad" "don't worry 'bout it son" I was laughing my ass off this whole clip
Lol. What did the son expect his dad to do at that moment 😮🤷🏻♂️. Board it up somehow in seconds or tell the tornado to stop breaking his gd windows lol 😂 🤦🏻♂️.
@@stevewhitener4903 no just to get away from the windows , be smarter sir
Ain’t that somethin?
"ain't that somethin?"
"it's f***in horrible, dad"
22:25 - 22:50 They’re so polite, even though an F5 just went over them.
Lady: (calmly, politely) “Someone is on my back.”
A few seconds later… “Am I hurting anybody?”
Such concern for others.
Still. Thanks!
05:59 after the two previous videos full of screaming and panic, this sight of a man in control of his emotions was a relief
Relieved until you reached the guy at 8 minutes 🤣
Im so glad the truck guy was okay. He looked so shook, and the family in the car. So traumatizing.
This is by far the best comp of tornado videos I’ve seen! Thank you to whoever took the time to put it together!
It boggles my mind to see so many people standing by glass windows and doors
Sudden change in wind speed (near instant from nothing to 100 mph+) frightens people
By far the most graphic audio I have ever heard in a tornado compilation. Far more powerful than the images. Awesome job!
22:05 " I love everyone man" ❤️
15:05 I’ve never seen footage of tornado victims in a storm shelter. The audio quality is so good and even though you’re underground, you can still hear and feel the POWER of this tornado! Truly scary!
17:00 The Joplin Tornado to this day fascinates me. I did a paper on it back in high school. The costliest tornado in United States history! Absolutely beautiful but horrifying.
18:45 How is this guy so calm and nonchalant about a tornado ripping up his home?
33:48 Did this guy survive? His entire apartment complex was wiped off the earth…
I was in 1st grade and watched Joplin live on fox sky cam I was in Springfield about an hour out with my grandparents at the time
It’s what got me into meteorology
They had to of survived to have uploaded the video.
18:45 looks like a basement, he probably knew they were safe underground and that's why he stayed calm.
Regarding the last timestamp dont quote me but I remember seeing an interview with him in the hospital with a broken back but he was alive. This was years ago and I don't know where I saw it at so I maybe wrong.
@ 18:45 the man was a Vietnam vet and a sturdy Midwesterner. Look up = Tornado Hombre' 2010
10:39 I was reading about this not too long ago. This is an armored tornado intercept vehicle. The whining you here before the tornado hits is the vehicle drilling itself to the ground.
I remember reading about the 1985 Barrie tornado where a woman was stuck in her car as the winds grabbed it. When she came to, her eyes, nose, ears, and mouth were plugged with dirt and she was wedged under the steering column ... her car a ball of crumpled metal.
The screaming in the Ef1 tornado in Ocala was ridiculous that wasn’t even a big storm lmao
This hurts my heart. The Joplin tornado and hearing the young man say he loves them broke me and made me cry.
18:55 can’t tell if this man is more annoyed by the tornado or his daughter 😂 “shut up, you’re okay”.
is ok
😂
@mooncricket8192she was a teen girl and her dog just escaped while a tornado was ripping their house apart 💀 are you slow
@mooncricket8192bitter incelly vibes
@@croissant4131he’s commented all over this video laughing at the “cry babies” and acting tough, def an incel
I'm crying so hard laughing at whoever is @8:00. Sincerely, whoever you are, thank you. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. My belly hurts
I was going to say this one, but you beat me to it.
Granted, it's easy to sit in a chair in a safe room and make fun of the poor guy (he must have been scared out of his wits).
But I couldn't help it either.
Jesus that's embarrassing!
@Groaning Mole true enough. Although I didn't really intend to make fun of him. I genuinely feel bad for him but that didn't make it any less hilarious ya know?
Just saw this guy yelling like a girl and just starting laughing so damn hard.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol right.😂😂😂
Wow! I remember the one in St. Louis at the airport. I was at work about 5 miles from the airport when it hit. It literally jumped across the highway to the side where the airport was on.
jesus 21:35 gave me ghoosebumps, honestly alot of people have forgetten just how horrific the Joplin tornado was...you can hear the screams of people being sucked up by the tornado
no one forgot how horrific it was
@@doxxmane what are you talking about, a bunch of people have, you never see it talked about anymore besides by locals
One of the very best inside views ever posted. Thanks for sharing these amazing clips.
I like to think I'm pretty up to date on un-seen Tornado footage, but I haven't seen quite a few of these before! Wow, great job at sourcing. Great video
So many people are confident that nothing is ever gonna happen to them. That is exactly how found footage is made
22:04 I love everyone. Aww sweetheart. That made me cry a little.
Nice work putting all these together. I think you got all of the major ones I could think of
The super calm dad followed by the screaming man is a great transition. 😂
So, if I moved to tornado alley, I'd in the least have my bedroom in the basement. God bless those people, and everyone else who will go through this in their life.
The best house in Tornado Alley is probably the one mostly underground!
We don't have basements. Hate to break the news to you.
@@MissReneeMichelle You might not, but a lot of us do. lol
We don’t have basements in majority of Texas and Oklahoma (I live right on the border). Clay soil is too hard. Would cost more than the cost of the house to create one.
Great compilation. I've seen many tornado videos before, but some here were new to me and a really good thing is that date, location and stregth are indicated. 👍🏻
You gotta give credit to those who maintain a good sense of humour in an otherwise horrifically traumatic experience. “There goes the roof!”
This was the best tornado compilation I've ever seen. I've watched many over the years. Thank you for sharing.
I like how ur pfp is that one post where someone lost their cat, found it, then a week later the og cat comes back leaving them with two identical fat cats. Love that post
Some of the most insane and awesome footage I've ever seen
All these people standing by the glass when a tornado is hitting. 🤦♀️
That very first video is from the May 3, 1999 Moore, Oklahoma tornado. I believe the guy's name that filmed this was Chris, and it's the actual sound of those massive 318 MPH winds. Those winds were screaming!
What I want to know is HOW he filmed it
Fastest winds ever heard...
318 MPH is ungodly. It’s inconceivable, as most people, will only ever experience (at their worst) winds of 80 - 90 MPH in their lifetimes. And 80 - 90 MPH winds are absolutely frightening and can easily rip
up trees, destroy awning,
street signs and telephone poles. Those poor folks that have died or lost loved ones in these ferocious monsters,
my heart goes out to them.
I originally had an even more massive comment but decided to cut it down quite a bit
- Just the wind howling alone in that first clip is absolutely terrifying... and then there's the fact you can't really see anything except a couple branches blowing around, debris flying, and power flashes. I've seen a billion tornado vids but what I've rarely seen is just how much they engulf you in total darkness.
- 13:34 is pretty scary seeing just how fast the funnel moves away into the top right corner... gone in about 15 seconds. That Pontiac is a real trooper though
- Any clips from Tuscaloosa or Joplin are automatically terrifying because, once again, swallowed by total darkness, but also just how long it took for those tornadoes to pass over. They were both absolute monsters
- 33:32 Well dude, whatever it does to those trees, it'll do to you just as easily
- 42:22 is a legendary clip... one of the most chilling I know of. Not all the footage is here but the dad goes out to check and there's nothing left. The entire neighborhood was demolished, he shouts their house is destroyed, his daughter cries in terror. The raw emotion and total destruction from a first person POV is extremely chilling
- 45:47 The stuff nightmares are made of... right when you think you're safe in the cellar
- 47:32 I was half a mile from that one! Deep in shelter long before it arrived so I never saw it, but that's a day I'll never forget. It's one of very few times I've seen a familiar area transformed by destruction
the most striking thing to me is just how fast a tornado can do immense amounts of damage. It's just seconds.
This may very well be the best tornado video footage ever put on tape …they may be the most terrifying event in nature…anybody that encounters one will never forget it….
