Last year, I wondered why we hadn't seen a resurgence of 1950s aesthetics even though the 2020s have been significantly influenced by different decades. And then Sabrina came along! Besides its uniqueness, I really enjoy how her style complements the themes of this era/album, especially in her music videos. The aesthetics of this album oddly reminds me a bit of pin-up & those old ads/fashion magazine cutouts from the 50s-60s, which works really well considering the rise of those sassy pin-up quote memes from the 2010s & how they utilize a similar humour/cheekiness as Sabrina. Additionally, since her album does have folk/country influences, she combines that "oops, I killed my lover" cliche in female country music with that (for lack of better words) "comedic gold digger you can't help but root for" archetype that we saw movies from those decades.
I agree a lot with this because what also attracted me to her was her fashion and marketing style. Even now that feather and short n sweet are different aesthetics they are still sabrina.

Pale yellow is one of her best colors, and you can tell because they put her in it all the time! This is why I love color theory so much, in the right ones you just have this glow that’s hard to replicate.
I love how she embraces femininity as well, especially in this modern age of (looking at you live action Snow White) “girls are strong and powerful and don’t need a man” and femininity almost being mutually exclusive, for a while I felt like I couldn’t embrace my femininity because I wanted to prove a point that, just because I was a woman it didn’t mean I needed to feminine, but feminism is all about embracing who you are, and I’ve been embracing it more and more and it makes me feel so good and confident, and Sabrina has definitely been an inspiration to me in that regard, love it 🎀💗 amazing video as always midnight!!
That Snow White 'quote' (which everyone took out of context anyway, because the interview was filmed a year before the clips went viral) didn't mention anything about not being feminine. Not needing a man doesn't have anything to do with feminity, and more to do with women's roles being defined by their relationships to men for decades. Madison beer used to be so comfortable and confident in her feminine style and gorgeousness and looking put together till 2020 , now sadly she is trying so hard to be relatable just to avoid being hated on for being too pretty , it's actually quite saddening . She is such a kind hearted person and most beautiful human I have ever seen , but she has lost her charm and made her haters win. Her in boyshit , baby was otherworldly. So pretty
I can see her style now through her early years. Not everything but certain outfits definitely stand out. Her “Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying” music video definitely shows this current style. The “Why” music video especially her white pjs. The “Almost Love” music video those 3 show this soft style.
The only thing I don't like as much as the cooler hair; I think the warmer blonde was more flattering on her. But I do love her clothes now! I love the cutesy, yet flirty style of her dresses.
For music videos outfits i'd have to go with her latest release "Taste." for the amazing outfits that reference so many iconic scenes from past movie, styled to perfection not only for her but for Jenna orteg. The two just look amazing together and the costume designer did a good job in putting them in opposing colour pallets; When Sabrina's in blue Ortega's in deep purple. And it just gives you the widest range of outfits to pick from as well. Though the blue swimsuit from Expresso will forever be one of my favourite.
The details in your videos literally make my day! I love talking about cleverness of marketing and fashion!!! Could you do Chappell roan or Olivia Rodrigo next?!?!?
I’d love to see you do Tyla since I think she’s another one with really strong consistent style branding and a color palette we haven’t seen explored by a pop star in a while :) Great video btw 🎀😁💝
I'm not finished with the video but it feels like an obvious oversight that her tan also balances the colors she's in more as well. She's practically ghostly in her Disney era vs sunkissed in the short n sweet era.
truee! i also think it makes her look more mature (+the bangs) which fits because we don't want to associate the old sabrina look with her new lyrics and era because her singing ''bed chem'' would lowkey be awkward if she still looked when she was a minor 💀
I feel like Sabrina shared a similar career trajectory to Chappell Roan. They both spent years trying to build their careers through trial and error of their artistic style. But after years of learning what does and doesn’t work for them, gathering experience, they really figured out their own personal identities as artists, and leaning into that allowed people to see how much they have to offer as artists. It’s not JUST their music, it’s their whole aesthetics.
@@evacody1249 no their music has been consistently good for ages but the industry only started paying attention when their brands became more consistent and trendy. basically, you have to have to have a signature look to be a successful female singer in this industry
I love your videos, especially your popstar fashion analysis ones and I think I'd really liked it if you made one for Taylor Swift, especially considering her current Eras tour and all her outfits :))
Please do a video on Dolly Partons style! I would love a deep dive on how her style has or has not changed over the years. Dolly has such a defined overexaggerated country and glamour style that fits her music perfectly. A style she apparently emulated from her town tramp, because she thought the tramp was the most beautiful girl in town. She takes pride in all the outfits she wear to the point that her confidance becomes a part of her look, much like Sabrinas current style. Also shes been very open about the plastic surgery shes gone through and does not shame herself or others for getting it. Additionally, her stage outfits are always on point and I would argue shes one of the most recognisable female artists ever, and not just due to the amazing music shes made during her career!
Sabrina’s hair has so much volume, it’s so beautiful and I think that plays a role in her singer personality, as if she had the same hair from 2014(still ate tho) I feel like she wouldn’t have the same influence as the curtain bangs.
Not you censoring her ass on minute 9:21 😭😭That’s the only reason I’m willing to buy a vinyl and green cd even tho I don’t have a record player 💀 that photoshoot is fabulous🙏🏻🛐🛐
Colour theory is such a frustrating subject to me. I’m somewhere between soft summer and soft autumn because my neutral olive skin tone leans towards cool most of the time but when I tan just a little bit I’m leaning warm xD it’s so frustrating building my wardrobe cause I would love to wear cool pastels during summer. Choosing blond hair shade is the worst though. But I agree that we tend to shy when choosing the right colours. 😊
could you do a video on taylor swift? specifaclly how she is constantly changing her fashion to match the aesthetic of her albums and how thats kinda culminated with the eras tour
I am so glad that you mentioned that she started her career young and that her style evolution really does mimic someone finding their style and such. I do have to agree that in the context of color seasons, definitely the pastels "traditionally" look better on her and brighter, more saturated, and jewel tones are more hit or miss. But like you said, fashion, like all art, is subjective, and as a bi bestie, I don't really find SUPER tan people attractive. Men or women. And some lighter colors make her look orange. Now, no hate to my queen, she's still my dream girl, but some of those brighter, more saturated, jewel tones can help with making her less orange. To an extent though, like that bright grape purple dress really does not suit her and certain greens do the same thing too, but lavender, pastel green, and faded jewel tone versions of them, I feel could work on her. And that mustard was also kinda a hit or miss. Anyway, it also depends on the look you are going for, because you can still look good in the colors that are the opposite of your season if you use them properly. I saw something talking about how Anya Taylor-Joy and her stylist purposely put her in stuff that make her look more pale because that is the look that they are going for, but she still always - I mean there probably some exceptions - looks great. Also, I do think that even though it wasn't as cohesive from music/music video to stage, she definitely was starting to have a stronger vision for what she wanted for her looks for music videos to be during the Singular era, which got her to where she is now. I also think that SOME of the outfits from videos during the Singular era would tie for my favorites with some of the ones now.
I love your videos!! You should do a video on Conan Gray, his style and sound has changed so much over the years especially with his most recent album its been so interesting to watch as a fan of his since the beginning
I would say short n sweet over emails I can't send, short n sweet just make you feel like a girly girl while listening to it. And that is the feeling that her outfits convey. (I posted this without finishing the video so I didn't see that you went over this lol) Btw I could listen to you talking all day!
I agree with everything but the yellow it washes her out somewhat due to her hair I think it’s because she’s went more platinum ish blonde. Mostly just that capital performance outfit the yellow/silver one. I think everything else looks good
Sabrina is literally ICONIC. I don't even listen to her and I know exactly what vibe she is going for just through her marketing and style, which is genuinely impressive. You can tell she has put in so much effort as an artist. Also (if you're willing) you should do breakdowns of some male artists too, one of my personal favourites style and music wise is Joji

i only know a couple songs/seen only a couple performances by her so i need to look into her more! her style is so fun from what i’ve seen tho ♡
Sabrina the pop princess ❤❤
Ugh I really needa learn my personal color theory. I have no idea what I am
🤦♂️ if it's not the music, then what's the point?
@@evacody1249 "its not JUST their music"
@@evacody1249 no their music has been consistently good for ages but the industry only started paying attention when their brands became more consistent and trendy. basically, you have to have to have a signature look to be a successful female singer in this industry
I love your videos, especially your popstar fashion analysis ones and I think I'd really liked it if you made one for Taylor Swift, especially considering her current Eras tour and all her outfits :))
As an independent artist, your fashion branding videos are so helpful!!!
this channel girles so hard 🎀
Love this analysis!! To me Laufey also has a distinct personal style especially w her streetwear, I would love to see a video on it!
omg yess laufey! i love how her stage outfits are like disney princess dresses but mature
Her style is amazing! also would you do a video on Chappell roan?
I love your videos, I definitely would love if you did one of these with Chappel Roan 🩷
Also you’re thumbnails are always so so gorgeous they’re definitely a huge “wow I better click on this video” in my opinion
This was the best explanation of color seasons I've ever seen in my admittedly limited exposure to fashion media, ty.
Right!! When you sing Espresso you feel cute and sexy and when you sing Nonsense you feel like a baddie. Lol. IMO
I love your videos 😭🙏🏾 I look forward to them every time you post 🤍
The visual branding of her album is so cohesive ❤
I agree with everything but the yellow it washes her out somewhat due to her hair I think it’s because she’s went more platinum ish blonde. Mostly just that capital performance outfit the yellow/silver one. I think everything else looks good
The most girly and brainy channel, thank you for all the pop content that keeps it both fun and deep 💅🏻
I love how you analysis both style and color. I would to see a video analysis about ariana grande style evolution
give me a conan gray style analysis cause ppl are SLEEPING on his found heaven era but it's soooo good (branding, aesthetic, music and all)
I think I most like Espresso for the fashion alone. 2nd place is taste. I def love Please, Please, Please also.
Sabrina feels like modern day version of 80's Madonna in both fashion and themes
Sabrina siempre tuvo un estilo claro para su carrera solo que por fin puede mostrarlo 💗
her transformation is stunning 🤩
Every fashion babe had a fashion nightmare phase. It's like a fashion right of passage
I love Sabrina deeply but the constant zooming on the outfit at 1:09 has me rolling.😂
Lord Sabrina went through it😭😭😭😭
Please do an Ariana Grande video. I feel like her style & performance style has changed so much. It kinda feels like Sabrina has taken over the mini skirt & tall boots look & Ari is business woman.
Also this may just be me but a lot of Sabrina's outfits have a distinctly K-pop vibe imo. I don't think that's coincidence! We've come full circle as far as inspiring one another. :)
I've been following sabrina since her first albums and yeah it's definitely been so fun to see her evolution not only in her music but her style and branding
I watch your last Sabrina video video all the time and I’m so glad you made another, thank you bestie🫶🏼
I never listened to her songs, I don't even know one but I've been seeing her photos. Each time I'm like omg. Each dress is my Barbie dream when I was a kid. Love seeing the vintage style back. Hope she starts something so I can wear those.
I love your videos they are an absolute blast and always feels like I'm catching up with you on the latest trends and fashion. I honestly wouldn't have started listening to Sabrina if it weren't for ur videos. So, thank you so much for introducing me to her!
It truly does take a long time to get to the top and her career is a reminder of this.
honestly I love these videos. I would eat up any artist analysis you gave me, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappel Roan (love her stuff)...
What a dream to have a stylist who can make your visions come true and from some of my favorite fashion eras. I love Sabrina! 💖
Your videos about her,+ seeing hose topics also been reflected into another celebrities like Zendaya,Audrey Hepburn and Anya Taylor Joy, have made me realized that "dress for the job you want' it is such a true statement and fashion can help you to grow up as a person so much!
I think that in the beginning there is a little of 'fake it 'till you make it', because at first you will feel a little odd, but you have inspired me to improve and work in my physical appearance, dressing up better as I always wanted yet I was afraid to do so, so thank you! Love your videos!
I think it’d be neat to see a style analysis on Hayley Williams, especially with Paramore just finished opening for Taylor Swift on the UK leg of the eras tour
I would love a video like this with Rosalia!! She really had glow up with motomami
Lie to girls, dumb and poetic, slim pickins, bed chem, taste ohhhhhh you have such REAL taste .... The songs you love are my top 5.... Also I love what you said with her album being hard to rank because it's soooooo GOOD. I really can't wait for your Sabrina music video style breakdown....I keep saying this but i genuinely love your videos (just finished watching your princess and the frog one) .... Especially with how you tie in the importance of color and fashion.... I didn't even know anything about Sabrina being cool toned...so that was interesting to learn....
Your video essays are the best!
psssst, you should do chappell roan! she's very similar in style evolution
wake up babe, artatmidnight just uploaded another video
Our polly pocket princess
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS SO MUCH
OMG! Since you did Madison Beer, I was waiting for this one! I love your videos so much! Can you do one for Chappell Roan too? ❤
ooh i love sabrina's style now
i need to hear you talk about beabadoobee! she just released a new album and she has such a distinct, interesting and enviable sense of style. she makes music inspired by lots of 90s alternative acts (the smashing pumpkins, pavement, mazzy star, the cranberries, the sundays) and it shows in her clothes.
I NEEEEED to see you review her short n sweet tour outfits
can you make a video about Katseye and the possibility of them reviving the Pop girl group genre.
What a wonderful video! Thanks for making this ❤
on branding and old soul she reminds me a little of Dolly Parton, like I feel like they would get on really well.
would you consider a video on Dolly?
I love her so much ❤❤❤
She is so talented I am so glad I know her now
