I respectfully ask that you please not mischaracterize those with bipolar disorder. Narcissism and Histrionic Disorder (along with the related disorder when mothers use their kids for attention) are personality disorders; whereas, bipolar (once known as Manic Depression) is a mood disorder caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and in no way reflects character flaws or personality defects that would contribute to the atrocious behavior you speak of in mothers of trans boys. Bipolar is an illness like any physical one that can be completely controlled by the right medication. Please, please try not to paint people like me with the same brush as narcissists again! I am a normal, kind, successful person who just needs to take a pill prescribed by a medical doctor every day in order to keep myself from having uncontrollable and incapacitating mood swings caused by nothing but misfiring electrical signals in my brain--a condition inherited genetically from my maternal grandfather.
I am not trying to be better than anyone right now-seriously, I am not a troll, nor do I take pleasure in arguing or putting people down, but I’m not sure why you guys keep citing Jefferson and Adams when speaking of arguments in the congress aimed at founding our country. Adams was in England and Jefferson was in France during the Constitutional Convention -neither signed the Constitution. They were in the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence and voted for independence from England, however-but, I don’t recall them having debates in that congress, as they were of the same mind about independence. They did differ slightly when it came to the slavery clause, which the congress finally agreed to leave out and discuss again after twenty years had passed and a new generation had come to power.
You may have been speaking of debates between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson when the two were on Washington’s cabinet (the start of the emergence of America’s first two political parties)--or of the Federalist papers and oppositional writings-debates on ratifying the constitution that played out in the nation’s newspapers. Or-the fact that Jefferson and Adam’s ran against each other for the presidency in the election of 1800. They were great rivals but both died as close friends.
I was just super confused by what you were alluding to; if I am obtuse in this, I apologize. I have a degree in American History from an “elite “ university (which counts for nothing in the current political climate..I am practically ashamed of it now) and taught the subject for 10 years before I had to disability retire in order to recover from a depression…..caused by-not a personality disorder, but a chemical imbalance.
