To me, this song perfectly encapsulates the feelings of homesickness. As someone who lived abroad for many years, it feels really resonant. "I am so amazed by the things that I see here. Don't wanna be afraid, I just don't wanna be here!"

This song was a poignant way for Shanice to start showing off her vocal beauty! You really feel Dorothy wants to go home to where she was born only to discover she truly belongs in Kansas.

No offense, but the movie version sucks. The whole first part is whispered awkwardly. I love the movie version but they really botched this song, which has become on of my favorites, particularly this version.
I believe this is the best version of the song between the original Broadway cast, the 1978 movie, and The Wiz Live. The movie adaptation of this song is a mess, but Shanice here just captures the whole heart and emotion of this song.
I LOVE being able to listen to The Wiz Live! with the four year old I babysit, but is there anyway to get youtube to not use ads that promote scary movies? Every time the ad comes on I have to rush to mute the sound so she doesn't see it! Just a thought: these family friendly videos should NOT advertise scary movies! Thanks :). Stephanie Mills was absolutely the best Dorthy with such a strong voice.
Stephanie actually worked with Shanice so Diana is ruled out and irrelevant.
