I've gotten touched so deeply by this amazing encounter between two people beyond age, race and background. They've shared their tears via music. I hope this girl will grow to be a confident and happy person who keeps precious moment with this wise man.
Wow, yet again, crying my eyes out……so touching and wonderful….. thank you for making this movie ……It needs to be seen BY EVERYBODY….. THE EVER EVOLVING VIOLIN……
Most beautiful thing I've seen in my life. I lost a son at 21 who left me his passion... his guitar. Now I know what I must do to see his passion survive us both
I was asked to watch this for my film class, thinking nothing of it I pushed play, and wow. This is the reason I love film. I love finding jewels like this that remind me why I love to be alive and feel emotion.
Musical instruments are sacred objects to me and this beautiful documentary shows why. Joe's violin is received by this deserving student as a heart transplant would be received by a patient in need. Joe's humility makes his gift all the more special. He realizes through the music that the girl plays for him how magnificent is his gift of his violin.
Wonderful story - bravo to all who created this documentary! This is the kind of inspirational film we need in these troubled times. Thanks for sharing it.
how precious, thoughtful, unselfish, loving & inspiring!!! & the garden is growing, even now.....ty for the story on joe's violin & thank you for training our next generation of musicians!!!!
Music can do what Peace treaty's can't do, specially making Peace with Ourselves, Great initiative taken by this school they are truly instilling great education! Wish there were more schools like this!
and, i thought maybe i was the only one with tears. it does give one hope that in a world of divisiveness, we still have acts of human kindness. as the ancient greek fabulist aesop spoke, "no act of kindness , no matter how small is ever wasted." bravo to all the joe feingolds and brianna polancos of the world. and, a big thank-you to music director.. kokoe tanaka-suwan.
This is a beautiful story that speaks to the immense power of music and genuine human connections. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring, heart-warming story.
Perhaps the best deal ever for a carton of cigarettes! WONDERFUL World Class Documentary skillfully portraying the healing powers of music for holocaust and inner-city survivors. Thank you.
Hi yes there are programs similar. We have one on Lesvos and Greece. We teach refugee and dispalced children and youth adults how to love and feel the violin. Please share and spread our FB page: ART Angels Relief Team. Thank you
Worth to Thank WQXR radio station for all the Wonderfull community oriented iniciatives. WQXR make possible that donors and recipients reach each other. Bravo WQXR!
This is such an amazing beautiful story. I can't stop crying This story was meant to be shared. I shared it to it fills your heart with happiness & hope.
This documentary is so inspiring! I had the pleasure to meet the principal of the school today, and I truly feel blessed to be spending time with this amazing woman! I played a violin at the age of nine, and I loved it. This story truly touched me and reminds me that we all have challenges in our lives, but to be able to survive with the hope and grace of God is really a gift that we need to embrace and cherish. Thank you Joe for sharing your story, and for giving your prized possession to this wonderful school.
I'm not gonna get through this. It hits me where I live. I have a bunch of horns, but I'm a little too far from my native New York to give them to the schools...and-- I'm still working with most of them! I'll do the best I can to write their stories down before I include them in my will!
this is very touching. such an important story on so many SOCIAL levels. a HUGE statement AGAINST the CHRISTO-FASCISM taking over the ussa. one of the moments that stood out (after having trained at juilliard and having been a public school educator 12 years) seeing the girls on the playground discussing, excitedly, A VIOLIN. that was AMAZING.
When so much in the world and in our country seems dominated by meanness and narcissism, it is hopeful to see that people can be decent to each other, without expectation of something in return
Carol K (with maybe a little bit of paraphrasing) I can't forget my brother telling us only once in my life the day they came and took my mother and youngest brother and those are details that I do not care to repeat...
Great story and a deserving winner. It is a shame, however, that violin lessons are still being taught with finger-tape and adhesive stickers. There is no reason to put tape on a beautiful instrument; it is much different than training wheels on a bike, though many make the comparison. Students who are not taught to train their ears and fingers to find the correct tone will fall back on this crutch. Just a little constructive criticism from a student who saw peers become dissuaded from playing and dropping the instrument altogether.
"To me it's like an adventure." So touching. What a wonderful documentary.

A small masterpiece. The girl is wise far beyond her age, Joe is wise for the ages.
Most beautiful thing I've seen in my life.

Jake Rianne Domingo nope, it’s just a documentary. So only 24 minutes long. Sorry for the long awaited response.
all the people that unliked are jealous of the girl who got the violin
Excuse me while I solve the drought.
Where do the immigrant boys go to school? Are they also treated with the same cars and respect?
Sorry about that
Care, not “cars”
I'm sorry, but the real "nation's poorest congressional district" does not have instrument drives
