So glad they interviewed Max Roach, those are some incredible insights from an equally revolutionary drummer.

Blakey had the broadest dynamic range of any drummer I ever heard. Not just that he could but he did. At any time. Turn on a dime. Back and forth from a whisper to a shout. Never heard anybody else who could do it like Art

art blakeys idea about jazz being spiritual is beautiful and it resonates with me a whole lot, you really can feel god through jazz, because jazz is just a continuation of gods creation through human beings, its the most momentary, emotional, spiritual, and freeing kind of music on this planet

All due respect you don't understand sh*t about addiction. Unless you are implying that Art was a drug dealer or forcing ppl to use you are WAY off base. If the sh*t was around it was around nobody is responsible for another person's addiction

That's cute that he thinks the highest form of execution on a musical instrument is jazz😁 It's good, but when compared to classical, it places well behind. If classical is 10/10, then jazz would be 7.5/10, then you got your rock & roll/blues that is 6/10, and rounding out the bottom is electronic music & hip hop, which comes in at 1/10.
