Laos has emerged as a land of attractive cities and dramatic landscape and rivers..... it is now safe and easy to visit and is very popular with visitors of all age groups.... of course the younger ones have particular places to go to, to enjoy life energetically by the wondrous Kong River... ie the Mekong to the Western World. Vientiane is also a magnet for all Rod

Thank you for your summary of this video, MatlasX.....you're entirely correct in your view of my intentions. The only Big Deal about it is the expansive joy of the city. which is freely available to anyone with an open heart who finds themself in Vientiane.....RMc

Maybe not so much as yet......but it seems to me that SE Asian nations are generally impressed by the achievements of Singapore, and want some of the same infrastructure. It's just US that don't want everywhere to wind up being like every where else. RMc

The English pronunciation Vee-en-tee-ahn is used internationally in many countries but differs from the Lao pronunciatiion which is more like When-chun..... even in Thailand if you use the established English pronunciation for Vientiane, most people won't know where you are talking about..... so in Asia, When-chun is probably best.... This story about a visit to the now popular city of Vientiane quietly establishes that it is readily accessible from Thailand, the North East of which is enormously influenced by the enduring culture of Laos....I'm sure you know for example that the Esaan language is virtually the same as Lao, and any reading of the shared history reveals why that is so. Cindy, your inclination to overly protect your vision of this robust country is rather too matronizing towards a proud people . Rod

Rod, please show more respect toward Laos since it's such a beautiful and charming country. This video is about Laos so why is it necessary to mention neighboring countries and/or their currencies? Thailand and Cambodia also accept neighboring currencies so please don't make a big deal about it. This video is about Vientiane so why show clips of Nong Khai, Thailand? When you make videos about Nong Khai, do you show clips of Vientiane, Laos? So please focus on the country that you're in.

I think you are being a bit too sensitive. He simply transitioned to Nong Khai at the end of the video, but you make it seem as though Thailand or other countries in the region took up the lion's share of the video. Trust me, I think he did a good job with this video... to the point where I can see myself visiting there in the near future. Again, he spent a few seconds on the currency and wrapped up the video talking about exiting Laos. Don't make more of it than what it was.
