    Bought awhile back at the low 39s. Gonna hold and if the price drops there or just at 40 we will make another large purchase.

    Receiving large and growing quarterly dividends from MO is an orgasmic experience.

    Regulatory risk in this industry is very serious. However It appears to be mostly priced in, the risk anyways, not the outcome. Tobacco stocks are fundamentally and chronically undervalued for this reason, in my opinion, because people are hedging against smoking bans, changes in legal age, health trends, etc. Hence the tight safety margin you estimated. The answer is already there, it just needs a few more years to grow into a full blown industry takeover by heated tobacco / vapes / pouches, which are healthier, cheaper, consumable in most environments, and much easier to conceal under threat of social stigma, and they're damn good too. On top of that, once regulators really take aim at this change in consumption it will be those in compliance with FDA approval who prevail. Big tobacco will have its day in the sun again :) Buying MO below $42, BTI below $30, and PM below $77. Been adding for years, every time in small lots when it dips.

    Conventional cigarette sales are decreasing by 10% annually in the US. The US is their only market while main competitors like PM and BTI are truly global companies. They are years behind PM and BTI in new product categories and their total return over the last 5 years corresponds to the cumulative inflation, both are around 22%. No thank you….

    You're two weeks late. I sold in a weak moment. Not sure if that was the right decision. I put the money into the Fidelity Global Quality Income ETF. Buy, hold and check for another 25 years.

      A dying company that pays a nearly 9% yield and is up almost 11% this year. Must be a zombie then since it's dead.

    Not really liking MO tbh. Current fundamentals are great but being mostly based in the US and having PM entering the declining market is risky for their future. PM and BTI are more diversified and are in growing tobacco use countries. I much rather own one of those over MO

      Cigarettes are still cheap in the US compared to Europe. But I own British American Tobacco as well, just for their ITC stake. I missed the opportunity to buy Japan Tobacco two years ago.

    • @drg4366
      @drg4366 Месяц назад +1

      @jensino it's not about europe either. Most western countries are declining in overall smoking. You want a company positioned in growing eastern countries like China and India which BTI currently is. I like BTI much better
