METROCOP CYCLE

- Being a citizen in #C17 was not an easy thing, as the Combine was slowly pushing everyone to their limits with the agenda of converting them to their side.
REMASTERED version - • METROCOP CYCLE - Remas...
It was a carefully calculated process that would either make one break and rebel or would lure them in with rewards to the side of Civil Protection and beyond, if one would have the guts to make the sacrifice.
As a metrocop, one would be sent to missions of increasing difficulty, and if one wouldn't undergo the merge with synthetic robotics to their body, they would sooner or later meet their demise.
For the Universal Union on Earth, this was the filter that would give them the best soldiers that could be harvested for their great inter-galactic empire.

Wait is this video a parody of that one millennial thinker video?

“I don't know about you, but I'm ready to join Civil Protection just to get a decent meal.” Really just says how bad life is for the citizens.
i'd do it because of POWER. lol
Over twenty years growing up and living in this hellish dystopia. Imagine finally getting some real food, a real bed, getting to see your family again. Then imagine what you’d do if one man threatened everything you went through hell to get. You wouldn’t care about promises of “freedom” or “salvation”, these are alien concepts to you. No wonder the CPs never turned to the rebellion.
@@baalgar5530And even if they do, the brainwashed and more elite combine can take care of them.
Especially considering if you stay just a citizen it’s only a matter of time until you’re carted off to Nova Prospekt to be made into a stalker. Civil Protection kind of reminds me of the sonderkommandos during WW2, you get good food, alcohol, drugs, and some guarantee of living for awhile. I’m sure the Combine eventually turns on civil protection eventually when their usefulness is no longer required
That reminds me of the women citizen, waiting for her husband at the start of half life 2
I like how freeman is protrayed as some kind of monsters here
Imagine working as a metrocop and hearing time and time again how not only is he killing every single menber of civil protection but also that nobody can even momentarely stop him
Freeman does evoke a sense of awe and intimidation, doesn't he? It's quite fascinating how his reputation precedes him, as if he's this unstoppable force defying all odds. Imagine being a metrocop, constantly hearing about his legendary feats, and feeling that mix of fear and anticipation. It's like he has become this larger-than-life figure, a symbol of defiance against the established order. It must be quite a daunting task to even consider going up against someone who seemingly has the entire world against them.
That's because the Combine did a great job of turning some people against their own race, by treating non-combine citizens like animals..
At least you choose to be a cop, at least

@@Noid stripped combines
@@DanielWindows But we know combine are cyborgs. They don't have human faces anymore underneath the mask.
Beinga Metro cop is fine, you get to eat, your respected, wait till ya become a combine soldier.
I like the detail that when we first see the guy as a metrocop without a mask, he's smiling, when we can see him that way for a second time there are no emotions at his face, he just blinks. Guess that's because of the memory replacement that some CPs are getting to get promoted more quickly. Great video btw!
He's just massacred an entire camp of refugees and seen some shit, no memory replacement required.
Or maybe the fact that he was involved in what looks to be a martial law event where he witnessed his human comrades massacre human refugees mercilessly, and it speaks for itself in that one cut. He couldn't believe what he had gotten himself into so he was in so much shock he couldn't pull the trigger or even raise his weapon.
That, and he had just brutalised someone else, the same way he was brutalised so long ago; It makes the ability to rest far less appealing.
Probably a bit of both, though.
CPs don't get any memory replacement or physical enhancement.
0:40 amazing part right there

You may think joining the Metro Police force is the best choice to make as a citizen in the world of Half Life... until you're chosen to be drafted into the Overwatch Transhuman Infantry, which is NOT a choice unlike becoming a Metrocop is. All of your feelings, emotions, ANYTHING that MADE you human is taken away from you, with what's left being the emotions and thoughts of a killer who obeys orders.
Sounds good to me
The path of the metrocop may seem enticing at first, like embarking on an adventurous journey into a world of possibilities. However, fate may intervene and lead you down a different, more daunting road. Picture this: your destiny takes an unexpected turn, and you find yourself drafted into the formidable ranks of the Overwatch Transhuman Infantry.
Suddenly, your humanity slips away, leaving behind a hardened soldier, bound by duty and obedience. At a certain point free will becomes an illusion, a memory, a strange and ridiculous concept.
Overwatch doesn't take away your emotions, Combine soldiers are like Vulcans from Star Trek; they can feel emotion and chances are they feel more emotion than they let on, but it's buried under a shit ton of logic and professionalism.

The metrocop grind
Oh, this is perfectly fitting - ruclips.net/video/jXmWR0t4aTc/видео.html
When depression, starvation and depravity is the norm: complicity becomes a tempting prospect.
In a world where darkness engulfs hope, where hunger gnaws at our souls, and where depravity weaves its intricate web, the allure of collaboration is an enticing path. As the oppressive cloud looms overhead, the realm of science fiction merges with our own, reminding us that sometimes defiance can arise.
Temping prospect- nova prospekt
Ive always wondered why there aren't more metrocops like barney like you're basically giving a free gun pass to every civilian if they join up with civil protection and go though basic training.
There must be, after all, if you look at the rebels' uniforms, they've got Civil Protection gear on them. Best way to get that is with people on the inside.
Ironically the fact that any one could join the metropolice, is probably one of the reasons why the rebelion lasted so long before freeman's arrival, its also one of the many the reasons why the rebelion managed to fight back the combine after nova prospekt was destroyed. Think of it, you are a civilian that is not really sympathetic with the combine, the rebelion contacts and tells you to join undercover the civil protection, you receive combat training and equipment, and because of that you can give off numerous equipment to the rebels secretly, you leak information about the combine to the rebels, and even use your training that the combine gave you to teach the other rebels so they can stand a chance against other metrocops and combine soldiers. Honestly i also believe that there was definitelly ex military members as well in the rebelion, that could speed up the process of making rebels somewhat of capable fighters even slightly, now combine that with metropolice defects or double agent situations, training gets doubled, and as a result you have a guerilla organization that can actualy work.
@@thatdudemetro6271 the metrocops aren't really trained that well either at times they lack basic combat knowledge and organizational skills
@@Faygo2215 Honestly thats mostly a gameplay choice from valve, giving them the combine ai and animations would basically make them look like recycled npcs with different models. There is no actual lore confirmation that they dont have any training, but as far as i remember in the beta version of half life 2, the metrocops apparently were even higher rank then the conscripts. I would also like to mention the fact that in the black mesa east base, a heavily guarded rebel secret base, it was the metropolice that attacked it, not the combine soldiers, and in the end they did capture eli succefully, well of course casualties were taken on both sides, thats how firefights are, the rebels definitelly took the most ones considering the results. Lastly its the codes they have to learn, of course some one would argue and say, they are just codes but the fact they are able to speak with each other and use call outs even when they are fighting a morphine addict with an hev suit should give them credit for being able to work under stress(could be debated if its a game design choice). If real life police officers go throught weapons training to be able to fight against armed oppoments then why the metrocops cant?

You smashed it yet again Inlet. I am in awe.
That was great! Awesome facial expressions.
You can follow along with him; what he's feeling at each stage and why he joined CP.
Also +1 for green male_07 😁
I can imagine some metrocops knowing how hopeless shit is and not able to cope with the sort of casual brutality they have to inflict upon their own people, opt to give up and become a soldier just to not feel the crushing misery and guilt or remember the things they've done.

Joining the ICU is probably safer in many ways
WAIT WAIT WAIT, JOHN FREEDOM SUPPORTS YOU? DAMN, THAT REALLY IS THE SEAL OF QUALITY
This made me realize that I don't even think the civilians have *jobs*
They usually don't AFAIK. It's part of the suppression mechanics of the Combine. Their goal isn't to Labor Camp the humans out of existence with poor rations and overwork. It's control.
They probably work in factories, but probably nothing more than that
in half life: alyx, there were some engineer combine that were human, so i imagine if they're still around then they could probably sign up as those fellas
Plot twist: he knew he couldn't win against the scientist with a crowbar, so he gave up, and Gordon let him run away
An unexpected turn of events indeed! He grasped the futility of challenging the rampant killer, and maybe in surrender can mercy be found.
1:47 male_07 becomes ugly
he loses humanity
the choice you make , either make you fight and die to be a free man or end up on the wrong end of freeman
In the realm of life's adventures, your choices can be as defining as a particular scientist's path. Embrace the battle for freedom or find yourself confronted by a less favorable outcome. Ready to face the odds and make your mark?
You portrayed this really well. The citizens slowly become more and more poor as they eventually decide to turn to joining the combine where they raise in the ranks and lose their humanity. Certainly a future for humanity that could happen.

Man imagine living in City 17 and the other cities that are occupied by the Combine, it's very hard. If you join the Civil Protection you'll think it's a good choice. But later you can be killed in action or when you failed a mission or an objective you'll get amputated or idk, or also being drafted into OTA. A life as a HL2 rebel is also hard, if you get captured by the Combine while in action well... you are dead.

What a great video.
What if the citizen managed to rank up to becoming an elite?
They are not people a that point, metro cops are citizens with basic training, elite soldiers and guards are brainwash cyborgs incapable of betray the combine and sustain on their own.
That's what I was expecting tbh
It isn't much different than turning into an emotionless robot who kills and dies for his master. They lose their ability to question or hesitate the orders, so they are just another way of zombies.

This was the 3rd video that got me into half life (:
Когда я играл в Half-Life 2, вроде это была миссия "Водные преграды", я встретил комбайна, который не стрелял в меня, однако, пистолет на меня направил. Он смотрел на меня минуты две, после чего начал стрелять. Возможно, в нем ещё осталось что-то от человека/When I was playing Half-Life 2, like it was the mission "Water Obstacles", I met a combine that did not shoot at me, however, the gun was pointed at me. He looked at me for about two minutes, after which he began to shoot. Perhaps there is still something left of a person in it.
You were a rare witness of sheer uncertainty that could've resulted in redemption of the said combine, but he chose the latter.
