- Planting Giant Miscanthus To Improve Access | Kaleb's Blog
Kaleb is back on Lee's knocking out another project that they've come up with to help improve the farm. Multiple options exist to help improve access and on this one the guys choose to plant giant miscanthus.

It’s a mold board plow. Nice job I need to plant some of that stuff.
Man I didn’t catch that thanks for the correction D P. Eager to see how it does, seems like it could be pretty beneficial by year two. Get after it!
Or you could have rented a tree planter from the county FSA for 50 bucks 🤷🏼♂️
I think you should come sit on the back and run it for me while I sit in the cab AC next time Ernie! Haha thank you for mentioning that. I didn’t know it was that cheap though!
@@KalebGreiner well I figured that’s what camera guys are for lol. We just planted 12-15k rhizomes and we needed 5 of us. Went through them pretty quick tho
@@erniesantana508 holy smokes that’s a lot. You had me thinking about that tree planter the other day. Do you run two people on the back dropping rhizomes or can you get away with one? Thanks Ernie
@@KalebGreiner you could have one although it will just be less efficient but doable. We had one on the tractor, 2 on the tree planter, me on the ranger and another filling buckets with rhizomes from ranger to the guys on the planter. Worked through them very quickly
@@KalebGreiner I have a single seat tree planter and it works great. Just got to slow the tractor down and communicate with the driver. My wife and I have planted miles of miscanthus on our farm.
I planted 1500 rhizomes using a spade (shovel). Your way is better!
That soil looks amazing!
Nice job! Keep up the great work! Man that soil looks great! I didn't see any rocks? How about PH levels & fertilizer for that stuff?
Where did you get your rhizomes from?
Great choice with the giant miscanthus!
Lee and I are excited to see it grow over the years! Thanks for watching Chris 👊🏼
It’s the wall that doesn’t fall!
