    I just saw them in Cleveland and they played 4 songs of the album back to back. Let me tell you these songs rock on stage.

    Joey has had vocal leads on tons of records before, for example Interior People, Intrasport, Work This time. This record debuts vocals from cavs and lucas though.

    I agree in that it's not my favourite of their albums, but it's an album I'll put on when I need some good vibes

    The "making of" video just shows them having loads of fun exploring this prog rock genre. It's so reminiscent of Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more 70's rock bands. For a band that crosses over into so many sounds and genres, why not be excited that they're going classic rock?

  • @atharvachoudhary6974

    I can see how the band might feel that way. I just wanna mention that there are 6 people playing in there, I think (I can be easily wrong) a lot of the religion themes come from Stu (and maybe Joey?) but Amby has literally said 'okay let's make some music' when Stu was famously speaking about how he loves god and wants to do things to him
    I would argue King Gizz make music they like to make and that's it. No agenda, nothing. If they did there would be signs, like the full nonagon movie might've been out or direct sequels to albums and ideas that had good reception. They only seem to make music as per their interest and quirks and just from the need to be making music.

    • @MattOLearyMusic

      They seem entirely genuine while simultaneously having one of the best business models of any band

    it's odd how some of their sound reminds me of Blue Oyster Cult and Thin Lizzy, who I don't often see people compare them to.

      Great point. Not a huge fan of either of those bands, but probably for a lack of trying.

    as you've uploaded another video, I've to ask a few things again 😬.
    Did you review any records from the band Midlake and Skinshape? 😶‍🌫️

    • @MattOLearyMusic
      @MattOLearyMusic  4 месяца назад

      Howdy. Did Midlake drop a new album? I don't think I've ever reviewed them, and my favorite Midlake is probably their collab with John Grant on Queen of Denmark. I never caught on to Van Occupanther.
      Never listened to Skinshape, but the new single sounds great!

      Exactly. Even as a massive fan, I feel fine skipping an album.

  • @bisket2003

    It's the mix. Its messy and sloppy. It's fun. Just needs remastered. I believe that King Gizz just wanted to pay homage to the classic rock greats and also appeal more to the masses to continue their growth. It was a needed release after TSC. Fishing is their best, and this indeed was a WELCOMED return to rock and to the roots. They also jam on these tracks during the live shows. Antartica fukkin blows. But don't know about your Joey claim, he's put down on SO many amazing tracks. You meant to say Cavs first time on a track??????

    • @MattOLearyMusic
      @MattOLearyMusic  4 месяца назад

      Fishing is their best!??? 😱 that’s a bold claim but I kind of love it. And agreed, this was a much needed return to more accessible rock. Aaaaand yes I said the wrong dude!

    • @koalakyle19
      @koalakyle19 4 месяца назад +1

      @@Astersss_ I mean, I like that they try and put out a good message, but can they come up with something new, or at least something meaningful?
      Global warming is honestly a sham if you know anything about how volcanic eruptions and solor wind/flares have more to do with Global temperature than anything humans do.
      If you know anything about the Paris environmental agreement, and carbon emmissions, it has more to do with global wealth distribution, and nothing to do with actually stopping pollution etc..
      OH, and wow, an anti-religious themed lyrics?? We also definitely more of that, especially when we have such great songs like Imagine that the Boomers have made their anthem, and now we are left with a godless spiritually corrupt society
      Might as well make an album about how to eat the bugs
