    I always stand in awe of a shuttle landing because of the silence, and stillness of this great bird, gliding through the sky towards the runway. The rumbling, earth shaking, belching flames beast during take off is replaced by a graceful, beautiful lady, gently returning to the hands of those who love and care for her. And how talented and skilled are the shuttle pilots, who can glide an enginless 'brick' (as NASA calls it) safely to the ground. She is missed.

    • @juanar4305
      @juanar4305 3 года назад +3

      Not so brick. It was a "lifting bodie".
      I think they'll come back, and they'll be cheap and reliable... when they're not produced by Lockheed, Boeing and so on.

      It's not that silent! Lol. A lot of energy stays w it even when it.

    The shuttle carrier flight to Florida was tedious. Ceiling was 15,000ft, cruise was 250kt and range 1,100nm.
    They got bashed pretty good from turbulence. It wasn't a very stable aircraft with the orbiter attached.
    It could not refuel midair so they had to land two or three times to refuel depending on the winds. Props to these amazing pilots.
