It was my sophomore year in high school and I remember I was getting the trash together to take out one night and my mom came in the kitchen and asked if I had heard that Aaliyah had died in a plane crash. She had just seen it on the news. I remember as I was walking to the road with the trash my eyes wattered up. I remember that night so vividly for some reason. I can still picture exactly what I was doing. It was strange because I liked her and knew her music pretty well (she had a lot of hits when I was in middle school) but I wasn't a huge fan or anything because at the time I was more into rap/hip hop than anything. It was just wierd to me because I didn't know why it bothered me like that and I never got emotional over anything. Not that it wasn't a tragic incident that warranted sadness, because obviously it did, I just didn't know why it hit me like it did when she wasn't an artist that I followed really closely at the time. I remember watching the behind the scenes footage of the making of this music video, her last one before that plane crash on her way home. Not only was the plane heavier than need be there was too many passengers plus the pilot had apparently tried to stall them leaving cause of several issues but others who were at the airport that day said the group basically forced him to leave that day….not only did he have trouble starting one of the engines he lied about his qualifications and flight time to get the job (the autopsy on him also showed he had alcohol and cocaine in his system when he died) they said some of the bodies (including Aaliyah’s) were so badly burnt that they had to be identified by dental records and DNA tests

Sadly she tragically lost her life the next day Saturday August 25th, 2001, only wo weeks prior to *9/11.* This time period was one of the most saddest times in our history. My favorite part - and heart quenching part of the video was at the end - but it cut off where she is in the water, it looks like she is ascending. Her death broke me when it happened - believe it or not, it was the first death I had ever experienced (at the time no one in my family had passed) - so this shook me. I love this video - but it also reminds me of her beauty, these were the last visions of this beautiful young lady. This was such a sad moment , it takes me back to my sophomore year of 2001 remember when when the news broke . This was a great song , it is also a remake of an lates 80s r&b song . She was very very beautiful.

I think the boat was called a catamaran. I always loved Aaliyah's performances and I remember the year that she passed away I was 14 that summer when I tell you her album her final album blew up they were selling so much they were bumping all her music on the radios Aaliyah was so talented she even had done the movies Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned Aaliyah was blowing up I would have loved to see her live and see her collaborate with these current artist I even have a feeling that if Aaliyah was alive she would even collaborate with the K-pop artists. She inspired so many people to sing and dance
since the age of 14 this has been, and will forever be my ultimate summer holiday jam. I am 31 now and i continue to play it everytime i go abroad - the perfect song to vibe to by the pool or on the beach. RIP babygirl

She passed after shooting this video . She didn’t want to wait the next day to go home so she had decided to get the plane right after shoot 😢😢 just wish she would’ve waited
It’s crazy to think..they film this video..and board a small plane to fly back to the states and it crashes pretty much right after take off. And then just over 2 weeks after they film this video, 9/11 happens. Just a shitty year. Then about 8 months later, left eye from the group TLC dies in a car crash. Crazy shit.
The boat is a catamaran. The platform that Aaliyah is dancing on with her dancers was specifically built for the dance sequence. Also, where she's dancing in all white with her dancers was the last shot of the video. She died that same day a few hours later!
We need her music on all platforms. Most of my younger friends and fam never got to hear her.
What made lover was how she was her own person, she didn't try to be like anyone else. her style was very unique. I've said for years and I'm going to continue saying it "if she was still with us Man!!!. Miss you Aaliyah R.I.P Angel.

I listened to this song a million times and every time I hear it I feel like it was made to her death. She died right after the video was done when the crew was bringing everyone back up to the United States and the ending where she floated up to the top under water was like she died right there. Most people do not know this, in the 70's there was a R&B song called Rock The Boat. Since Aaliyah's family is heavily seated in R&B music. When she came out with this; I thought she was paying respect to that era, song and group in her own way.

My favorite part - and heart quenching part of the video was at the end - but it cut off where she is in the water, it looks like she is ascending. Her death broke me when it happened - believe it or not, it was the first death I had ever experienced (at the time no one in my family had passed) - so this shook me. I love this video - but it also reminds me of her beauty, these were the last visions of this beautiful young lady. Her legacy will also be remembered - and I can appreciate anyone who listens to her tracks, anytime she is remembered I can't help but smile.
