If I have an extremely high deductible what is the point of paying an insurance policy that is almost as expensive?

You have a high deductible for the sake of a lower insurance premium. Should you ever have to file a claim, your deductible can be financed as long as you choose a repair company that allows for that. Get a wind mitigation report, shop around for new insurance and you too, just like I did, can find an insurance company that has a low deductible with a very affordable insurance cost.

Keep increasing the home insurance, one day the American people will get fed up and stop paying home insurance.

Only the people who have payed off their mortgage can stop paying everybody else who is paying a mortgage is forced into keep paying for mortgage insurance

That's exactly what I did. More economical to pay myself the amount the insurance companies want. I put the money into an interest bearing fund/account to ensure there will be money for repairs if/when needed. The insurance companies can get rich off of someone else's property.

Don't sign an assignment of benefits. Insurance should pay directly to you....then you pay the roofer some down to start the job.

You clearly trust the insurance companies.

I own my Florida home outright and I'm not required to carry insurance. So I sent the insurance company packing when they tried to double my premiums. Between the current premium rates they want combined with the high deductible required to lower those premiums, I find it more economical to pay myself those amounts into a fund/account that I will use for repairs if/when necessary. The upside..., Unlike the insurance companies, I will never deny myself a claim for repair should I need it.

But yet they can pay football players, lizards, Flo millions. No insurance company is losing money, they're just not making as much profit as they want,

Yep the heating and air-condition has a monopoly also it cost thousands of dollars to replace and you can not buy replacement parts unless you have a license. I just finished using 3 heating and air contractors and they all said I needed a new unit with the cost between 13 and 15 thousands dollars and I called a fourth heating and air contractor and he fixed the unit the circuit board burned out and he replaced it and the heating system is working fine the cost 1,128.00 dollars plus the 350 dollars for each contractor to show up take a look and say you need a new unit so they got their 100.00 and I sent them away

Insurance Companies don't check who they hire for inspections of policy holders properties, they hire them , contractor works for you they say, alot of add ons by contractors, problem doesn't exist, so who is creating the scam, not the owner !!!!!!!!!!
