Meh, sure you get tired of playing the same songs if you've made a lengthy career of being a gigging musician, but if you're self aware enough, you'll realize that the whole reason you've been able to MAKE a lengthy career out of music is due to those songs. Johnny wouldn't be where he is today without those overplayed songs. Hell, the whole reason they've become overplayed is because they speak to so many people at foundational level. There are definitely bands out there that refuse to play live the songs that made them popular (MGMT is a good example), but if they reflect enough on their career they usually come to terms with the undeniable fact that those popular songs are the reason they're still able to make a living as musicians. I'd also like to remind people that as artists age, and their fanbase ages, it mostly becomes about nostalgia when fans go to see those bands they've loved for 20+ years. They don't care much about that artists "new" stuff unless that new stuff is actually relevant. Some bands that have managed to stay relevant in their scene for decades will release new stuff that gets good radio play and fans actually love (Foo Fighters are a good example), but that is a rarity. I guess my whole point is that yes, Johnny could be tired of playing this song, but I doubt that's what you're seeing in this particular video.
@@maynarddrivesfast804 Yeah, there are interviews where John talks about how much this song means to him for all the reasons you listed. Most artists are forever grateful for their biggest hits. Also, as Springsteen says, he always thinks about that one person in the audience who might be hearing a song for the first time.
