I love that they're trying something different from the super edm style party drops in the chorus and that they're rapping more, Yeji definitely has lots of potential as a rapper
fuuuuck this is their best choreo/mv yet to date..... the song is insanely catchy too, some mixtape type shit. hope you enjoy the album buddy! it is so much fun!
@@anthonytoo SHOOT was dope, reminded me of a drake/travis scott/quavo type beat for some reason it was soooo clean. if you do some lives - check out the showcase stage for patreon, they did Mafia and Sorry Not Sorry!
"Why does this kinda sound like a Boy Group Song" I was thinking the same thing, it's almost like watching a GG do a Cover of a BG song....... so I actually can't wait until a BG does a cover of this
This definitely sounds like a boy group song but I liked it. It reminds me of Gods Menu by Stray kids in some parts and maybe NCT, SM vibes 🤔 Choreography is really cool too
yeah the way the song sounded reminded me of Gimme Gimme by NCT ! and the way the song structure was hard to predict, plus how I couldn't remember the song right away reminded me of Punch by NCT also ! in conclusion we stan
YES. before ITZY's mv came out, a few days before I was literally listening to bodak yellow. Then ITZY came back with Mafia and I INSTANTLY thought of Cardi B's flow in Bodak Yellow with Yuna's first verse specially when she said "You are gonna love me". And of course having that same flow with Yeji's verse.
I feel the same... for some songs, I need more listen to appreciate a song so maybe it’s the same for this one. But to be honest, I don’t have much hope :/ I really don’t think I’ll like it
The next thing you know you're twerking. I didn't feel anything at first because it's not they're typical concept but I guess itzy always does things differently.
I also had the same thought of this feeling like a boy group kinda song idk its hard to explain why but I can really appreciate ITZY doing this type of style and dance :)) I know the song will grow on me in no time. Thanks for the reaction as always! 💜
I feel like I'm one of the few that loved this immediately! I love that they're doing something new, that's what groups should try to do. Also, I adore that this isn't a typical girl group song and it shows off how Itzy is so well rounded! I think people just aren't used to girl groups having a title song that is majority a rap song but I loooove this! Itzy always have a badass, empowered edge to them and I think the korean music landscape needs that with their girl groups
I thought I might add a little insight to the lyrics of this song because I was honestly so confused when I first heard/read them. The lyrics actually derive from the popular game 'Mafia' where players have to guess among a group of people who the mafia is (Think of Among Us). In the game when morning comes you will most likely find a new person dead because of the mafia, hence the name 'Mafia in the morning.' Hope this helped anyone :)
To me it kinda sounds and got a similar vibe to NCT 127's recent japansese comeback Gimme Gimme but from ITZY it got a different twist to it. Both songs are awesome though!
Itzy has said that they don’t want to be caged just in a “girl group” scale, that’s why you feel this more like a boy group vibe, they’re a group that is trying to break that barrier of praising males and girls apart from each other, and make those praises equal. example, calling them not the best girl group but the best kpop group, with no specific gender
The beginning part you mentioned that sounds like something you say as a kid, it’s reminds me of the “He/She loves me, He/She love me not” when you pick the petals off a flower.
agreed. it does sound like a 4th boy group song, mostly nct 127 and if you want a song to north you, that's gimme gimme, their latest japanese release. go listen to it and them listen to mafia in the morning, hahah. another girlgoup that did a ''boy group souding song'' was weki meki with cool last year.
I feel the same way about the song feeling kind of flat even though it has plenty of good parts. The last chorus usually gets a little more added to it compared to the earlier ones but in this case it feels like it didn't go all out. But I hope its a grower! The girls are definitely owning this era :)
I'm not a huge fan of ITZY's music. It's just my personal preference, not that their songs are bad or anything, but damn, their performances are just lit. Personally, for me, they're the most badass girl group I've ever come across, and they're so energetic and charismatic. Just like you said, the chorus didn't sound as what I expected it to be, but it definitely grew on me after I got hold of the rhythm. Their visuals, and the editing on this MV is literally next level.
I think because itzy has set the standards for 4th gen high since their debut has left people having high expectations every comeback So even the tiniest thing that doesnt feel right is a critic
editing/mv production is done by the same team that produced skz gods menu, back door, all in, and nct gimme gimme ! so you already know they gonna go crazy with match cuts and transitions
Itzy doesn’t disappoint me ever but this comeback I truly appreciate and love because it’s not their usual sound.. I feel with this comeback it shows they can do more than their usual and it’s not terrible. I only found out about their comeback 2 days ago 😂 also, I only heard one other song off the album, sorry not sorry and I absolutely love that song. I saw their live stage of it, I think this album may be my fave since their first or second? Idk but I love this comeback a lot. Not sure exactly what the songs about but that’s okay, I have time to find out. Their visuals (and entire MV) really distracted me away from the lyrics and possible meaning this time and I ain’t mad about that!!
This song is inspired by a game popular in Korea called the Mafia Game. The concept is kind of the same as Among Us. You may want to look it up for the song to make more sense. It’s really cleverly written.
since this style is quite different from what we usually expect from itzy, i feel like it definitely takes a few listens to get used to. the talk rap style was a bit strange to hear at the beginning, but it has a lot of potential. the concept itself is pretty interesting as well, using the game mafia as inspiration.
what u said at the start was true with the rhythm and melody is something u would sing as a kid, because it fits with the concept as if they are playing around hence it’s called mafia like the game idk lol
It does sound a little like a song a bit group would release, but that’s why I love it so much. Despite that it’s still very ITZY. They kill it and the music video is super produced👏🏻🔥
I feel the same way! Usually I love every single itzy song, but this one..well even after listening many times I can't get hooked :(( still a banger tho
Since Ryujin performed Boss, it's time for NCT to make a cover of this. It really does sound like a boy group song and I love it💞 If this is ITZY's glow up I think I'm a Midzy now🙂
"All in us" just means they have everything. That they can pull off any concept. They're just proving versatility. Please expect that they will never have the same comebacks every time. Sorry if you don't like it that much.
