Ed Rush and Optical are fucking LEGENDS !!! It was their late 90's jungle that made me fall in love with DnB. If you are not familiar with their early Prototype Recordings stuff do yourself a favor and look it up.
Only just got into Optical last year but ive liked Ed since i was a lot younger. I think ive heard some of their earlier stuff but im going to listen to your advice and have a listen to some prototype stuff in a bit.

turning 48 and remember when jungle / dnb first hit Toronto, Canada. We had some pretty amazing club nights and parties back in the 90s. So many UK DJs would roll through and tear it up. These days it needs to be dnb or techno for me to stay up past midnight lol.
Ed Rush is now the absolute Godfather of the whole movement, isn't he? I think he is

An absolute masterpiece! As the set is soaked, the track list is put together. Unbelievable and from this live DJ set all those who buy only hits and think about it should be. that they are a DJ. Nothing but shit! This is a gem, a gem!! Keep it up guys. That sound!! My goodness!! Great!

Genuinely shocked to see Optical in his backwards hat and Hawaiian shirt, white beard, the gut!! Looks like a dad! I know.. time moves on, we all get older... I'm heading in the same direction as Optical, close behind lol. Just a little taken aback this time.
I have a major fondness for both, own tons of their releases on vinyl and for some crazy-ass reason I was able to hang out with them when they played the little old Club Skyline (see footage of Skyline from another night on my channel) in Philly in the mid 90's. They were drunk out of their minds and I was still in high school. But the scene there, everyone was always so nice and supportive.

Saw Ed Rush & Optical at Nocturnal 2019 for the first time. Little did I know I was watching two of the greatest neurofunk/jungle DJ’s of all time throw down. Ever since I’ve always tried to catch one of their sets when I could, despite being the youngest person in the crowd by 10-15+ years. Wish I grew up during the height of the neurofunk era 😢😢

I wish the DnB scene was like this in the US. We had a decent run for a lil bit in the early 2000s but besides a few festivals here and there it's pretty much DEAD. And I've NEVER been to an event this massive in the US. The biggest was ULTRA and though it was packed the DnB crowd was pretty thin compared to the house and techno and all that. I cannot believe how massive DnB is in England. I'm 100% going to London for my 2024 vacation!

Agreed! "Beyond" used to be packed to the brim in Greensboro, NC (Millennium Center) , back in the late 90s... but not this level. I miss the rave scene of that time. Haven't been to anything like it since.
