    You should've added the floor tiles puzzle from Message in a haunted mansion! That is one of the worst exacted puzzles in these games because you have to get the pieces in the exact pixels to get it to count and one tiny slip of the mouse will get you to rage

    The clock puzzle in thorton hall was so easy in my opinion.
    Set all the clocks to 12, start the thing than stop when the fastest clock reaches 12 again. From there just mirror it. If one lands on 1:15 you should turn it to 11:45 and so on. You dont even have to look at the times 😁

    I am HORRIFIED that the hourglass puzzle from RAN isnt even mentioned 😂😂😂 for me its worse than anything else in the series

    • @vote4holt
      @vote4holt  4 года назад +16

      To me the hourglass puzzle and the clocks are very similar, and we went with the clocks instead just because they’re used twice and one version is timed. BUT FOR REAL THOUGH WE CHEATED ON THE HOURGLASS PUZZLE SOOOOO HARD IN OUR PLAYTHROUGH
      Just crazy difficult to do all the timing in your head.

    • @nathanieljefferies5491
      @nathanieljefferies5491 4 года назад +4

      The clocks were not so bad tho... since there was a technique to figuring out the solution by simply setting the clocks to determine their rate... and to be fair, the time you are given is ample amount... compared to that dumb hourglass puzzle, if you mess up u die

    • @GraemeCree
      @GraemeCree 3 года назад +1

      The hourglass puzzle is pretty darn easy if you're willing to get a clock and time each hourglass, write them down on paper and figure out what time to turn each one. If you don't believe in writing anything down or using anything except the screen to help you, it's going to be needlessly tough.

    I’m kinda late to this video lol but for the waverly silverware puzzle, you said you just went based on descriptions but it was really simple for me cause the pictures in the book of all the knives then all the spoons and all the forks actually seemed to go in order that the descriptions were. At least that’s how I solved it and it worked nice and easily. So you can just match the description placement to the placement of the utensil in the picture then know exactly what one it is.

    Unpopular opinion but I love fox and geese, the darkroom puzzle and the teapot puzzle. ICE was the second game I ever played (first finished) and I still revisit it to just play fox and geese. For the darkroom puzzle you just have to remember how high trays are compared to the menu buttons at the bottom of the screen, and for the teapot puzzle you just have to write everything down. All the other ones on your list were great, as much as I love VEN I had to use soooooo many hints to get through it.

The veggie puzzle too, oh my goodness, as well as THE INVISIBLE MAGNETS, ughhhhhhhh 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️! I agree with you Julian, this puzzle IS NOT solvable without the hack. Also, don't even get me started on Fox & Geese; it makes me murderous 🤬🤬🤬!!! I actually really enjoyed the fax machine puzzle from POV, I thought it was very clever, but not the sewer puzzle 🙃🙃🙃. For me personally, I really hated the pipe puzzle from WWIC, I wish you would've included it (I had to cheat 🤣🤣🤣). I'm also not a fan of the slider puzzle around Jane's door from CBM; this is the only puzzle from this game I could not solve for the life of me. One of my biggest pet peeves with the Nancy Drew series is when you're solving certain puzzles, like the Frass puzzle, and Nancy doesn't tell you it's correct or incorrect. I think that would be a great differentiation between JR & SR Detective mode. I think it would be great if all the puzzles would let you know if you finished it correctly in JR Decetive mode. Keep up the great work 😁😁😁!!!

  • @GraemeCree
    @GraemeCree Год назад

    I don't mind if a puzzle is a little tedious, as long as it doesn't bring you to a hard stop. Slow progress is better than no progress. As I say, Fox and Geese, though you have to play it too many times, is really dreadfully easy. It's not even a game, just an exercise, because the Geese can win by force every time, even against perfect play. It's embarrassing that a variant of checkers has so many people tearing their hair out. The Frass Puzzle, though tedious, is exactly the kind of cataloguing exercise that a real scientist would actually do, and, in that way, was kind of cool.
    But there are two that I DID have a problem with that you didn't mention. One is the endgame puzzle from Stay Tuned For Danger. On Master Detective, you have an impossibly short time to solve it. I was afraid I was going to have to abandon the game and start over from the beginning on Senior Detective when I managed to get through it half by luck.
    Another bad one are the Bees puzzles from Crystal Skull and Phantom of Venice, when played on Senior Detective. They just kept coming and coming and coming, and I was clicking and clicking and clicking until my finger was getting sore, and I was worried about breaking either the mouse or my finger or both. It took several tries to get through, and was no fun at all.
    Underwater Suddoku was no more difficult than any other Suddoku, IF you're willing to work it out on pencil and paper. But that's the kicker, today's players seem reluctant to do that, and want to solve everything on the screen. If you make it more difficult for yourself by doing it that way, I've got no sympathy. You know, in a text adventure game you're expected to have graph paper, and make a map of the game as you go. Map Making was long gone by the time Nancy Drew games came around, but it seems like the designers still expect people to work out some things on paper. Like the Forest Maze from Ghost Dogs. I never bothered trying to memorize it, I just printed off a screen shot of the map, and referred to it during play, so as to never get lost.

    Speaking of hidden object games, have you guys ever played Mystery Case Files? Great game series. Most Big Fish hidden object games are good, but the Mystery Case Files series (at least up through Dire Grove, I have not gone beyond that yet) is great.

    The Fox and Geese wasn't to bad but it dose get tiring. It's actually based on a game called Chinese Cheeckers. So you sort of got it right. It is a checker game but it's a Chinese board game ^^
    I also agree with nongrams puzzel and the massive sidoku puzzel.

    22:40 I kinda miss those good news bad news puns... they kind of made Trail of the Twister bearable to the point of me purposely crashing the car... It was just so comical on how nancy crashes and they kind of made that chemical puzzle bearable due to how in your face it was plus just be a save scummer if u want to avoid those 15 second sequences

    My friend and I actually managed to complete that final Shadow at the Water’s Edge nonogram on senior without cheats, still not sure how we managed it but it is possible. I suggest saving multiple times as you go. Whenever you KNOW something is correct, save. That way when you make a mistake, you can just go back without having to start from the beginning again. Hope this helps for when you guys try it without cheats!

    For me, the clock puzzle is not that bad. All you have to do is set the clocks all to midnight, let them run and see how far each one goes, and then just reverse them as necessary. Likewise, the tea puzzle sucked, but I don't think it was the worst.
    The Malloy chemical puzzle and Fox and Geese can piss right off though.
