The number of videographers who wedge themselves on to the sidewalks so that they can make RUclips videos is staggering. I doubt there is any other band in Japan, if not the world, that commands such attention.
It was interesting to see the train splitting the band from a different angle. The last video i saw of this performance i saw it from the angle of the back of the band and how the kids who got stuck handled it. When the train passed the kids just ran and caught up with the rest of the band and caught up with the music and choreography like nothing happened. Kudos to these kids and handling situations that are out of their control.
Tachibana always cheers me up and warms my heart with their upbeat music and wonderfully choreograph routines. I can't begin to imagine the hard work and dedication they put into their performance
A laugh and a smile when watching this fantastic band. Coming from Northern Ireland a land that has so many bands this is a real joy to watch. Thanks to all Parents Teachers and the members for their dedication. Well done.

DM with the baton skills! I've never really seen that before, awesome! Say what you want about the technical stuff, this is the most entertaining band I have ever seen. " Mentapu " from the Percussion Corps of the 111th Term is now the Marching Coach. It warms my heart that she returned to K.T. S.H.S. B.B.C. after participating in D.C.I. for five years. Back-to-back Gold Medals have been earned since her return. " Hey! "
I have the utmost respect for all of the DM's I have seen so far, I think they are all great. This DM however is the strongest of the others in terms of her dancing. She also led the band thru a change in leadership. Huge respect for this young lady!

@@jameslipe210 Sorry, I don't know whose nickname is "Pudding". The DM of this parade,"Okazel", is DM of 2018, and she was the national flag bearer of the Rose Parade on January 1, 2018. In the Rose Parade, the main DM was "Ron", who was DM of 2017. Following two DMs were DM of 2016 and DM of 2015. The GBA flag bearer was DM of 2019, "Palinpu".
From other bands, you can say many things, techniques, with very powerful percussions, but a band, that has its own personality, that has the musical quality and energy, some people so involved in it, like Tachibana DOES NOT EXIST, Girls and Guys, my congratulations.
marching, flair choreography, musicality, there are schools that do each thing better than tachibana but no school that seems to do all 3 as well as tachibana together. The other thing I notice from watching other marching bands (mostly western) is that their sound is very much BLEEEAAAH here we are here's all we got, in your face, all the time, are you not impressed with out power of sound. Tachibana has a more 'come along, follow us' feel to it. They're a caricature of a marching band, something you'd see in old cartoons from the golden age of jazz and dixie where the characters would be strutting and marching down the street in a procession. The arrangements they play have instrument sections arranged so that they are speaking to each other in sound and answering back and forth. I don't think any other band has managed to capture that feeling like you're following the pied piper of hamelin, only here it's a gaggle of highschoolers luring you away with this 100 member conga line.
Isn't this particularly the most intense one among all Tachibana performances? The whole repertoire was repeated (twice? 3 times?), I can't believe this! You can see that at the end the whole members look totally out of gas. And I teared up out of unworldly joy. I want to shake the hands and if allowed hug every one of you Tachibana band members. LOVE and RESPECT!!!!

Really changed the doctrine in the marching band ..... really fantastic, unique and funny. You really have made your 2 parents proud and carried the fragrant name of the school and your teachers keep dancing and sing sing sing sing. Here’s the video with the bow occurring at 7:24.It’s just a quick acknowledgement of a senpai, so go a couple of seconds before so you can get situated. She comes into frame at 7:19. From 23:55 you see her follow the parade for a while The bow comes at 15:05. Its quick so you have to look closely.
I would like to suggest all those who participate in future camera shooting work should cover the hard work of color guards, as they also pay very good effort for the whole team.

Hi, I love this Parade. Professor Hiramatsu for the win 12:36. The Lady Fan and supporter on the sidewalk that signals Drum Major " Okazel "that the clarinets and flautists have been cut off by a special train 12:50 for the win. Drum Major Okazel following in the leadership footprints of D.M. " Pimo "and D.M. " Ron "for the win. For me this street is the best one to live in Japan 27:34. " Seira " can really cook a beat to rest by while marching 28:56. The Kyoto Tachibana Supporter Staff for the win. d:)
Thank you for the wonderful impression, I am undressed at the height of my physical ability. I became a fan of performances and performances that do not seem like high school students. It is not found that the stage road and all-round Kyoto Tachibana brass band are exceeded. Please continue to fascinate in the future. I am grateful to the people and people who took the last shot.

@@CaseyRoche DM is elected by club members when she was in 1st year, then trained by senior DMs. While playing instrument in 1st and 2nd year, she prepare herself to be a DM. I think it is a heavy duty.
Marschtanz63, Thank you for a great video, under very trying conditions to video anything. Some of the streets are acceptable for marching bands, other sections seem like small alley ways. Absolutely no offense meant to any body, but the safety of participants and crowds should be a concern. Yes...I know its a Japanese custom for close quarters...... So glad to see Drum Major "O.....(nick name withheld per request of school and family) but glad at 17:42 she twirled her Mace and did a very creditable job....one of the few Drum Majors in recent wind club history that has mastered that important part of her showmanship.... Over all...a great presentation, to bad this is one of the few last times we will get to see this group until next year, To the staff and students of the wind club....Arigatou gozaimasu, for a great season....

.....Eugene, the last student in the band walking solo w/o and instrument is a French Horn player. On this day the Horn section marched at full strength, so rather than not include him, he has the option to still march but not play. There could be many other reasons that we do not and will not know about, but usually that's the case. The D.M.'s red top is probably acknowledgement of the organizer or sponsor of the parade and Festival. Many things that Tachibana and other Japanese marching bands (wind clubs) do is different to what we consider 'normal', just a difference in cultures, most find it very refreshing.
Hi, these are the 115th, 116th, and 117th Terms gathered this day. 2/3rds of which marched/ danced/ played in the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade. The Drum Major carried the Japanese National Flag and the Picolo Player in the last rank carried the Green Band Association Flag and became the 2019 Drum Major.

They can really bounce, just like her"W"
Incorrect. Miss Fujikawa was (111th term) DM (year 2014). This video is 2018 (115th term). Drum Major was "Okazel" but her real name is Yui. She is now a member of O-VILS.

平松氏（京都橘高校吹奏楽部創始者、当時の名誉顧問、元全日本吹奏楽連盟理事長、２０１２，２０１８年のローズパレードに関連してチャリティーコンサートの指揮をとった。）、ホラッチャ先輩（１０８期DM、２０１２年ローズパレードのDM、２０１１年全日本マーチングコンテストで当時の平松理事長より銀賞を授与された。）、１１５期DM（２０１８年ローズパレードでは、次期DMとして国旗を持った。）の３名の歴史的３ショットです。
この期のファンで、撮影者様の全体が見渡せる画も好きで何度も見させていただいていますが、最近 ホラッチャ先輩がずっと並走?しているのに気づきさらに楽しんでいます。狭い路地に入ってからも見え、後輩たちの勇姿を見守る姿が微笑ましいです。素敵なレディになられました😊。

やはりこの橘でDMに選ばれる子は素晴らしいと分かる場面が随所に有りました。
目配り、気配り隙が有りません。尚且つ、ふだんのDM業務で自分自身の練習時間が制限される中、自らのパフォーマンスレベルも磨き上げている。
年代の離れたマスク姿の先輩まで瞬時に気が付き会釈するなど、橘の伝統力と彼女の人柄、力量の凄みを感じました。他にもDMの資質を示す場面が多々有りましたがおそらく皆さんも感じられたことでしょう、私は彼等全員を愛しているので極力個人についてのコメントはしませんがこの動画を見て思わず禁を破りました。皆様お許しを。
今更ですが、100%同意、同感です。直後にコメしたかったのですが、彼女が大学卒業まで待ちました。
後で知ったことですが、2016年で既に学年DMに選ばれていたそうで、1年生で資質はまわりから認知されていたようです。大学(兵庫)でも吹部で活躍しながらオービルズにも参加、ご指摘の通りで心技体で物凄いスキルの持主です。
橘卒部の際、同期と後輩に向けて「いつでも最高のできで答えてくれた」と感謝を発した彼女には、涙がこぼれました。今でも尊敬しかありません。

ご指摘の通り当時は1年目の秋に同期の互選で将来のDMさんが決められていたようですね。スキル重視か人柄重視か年度によって多少の違いは有るかも知れませんがその総合力を一緒に苦労してきた仲間が判断するのですから代々立派なDMさんばかり。ですのであくまで私の好みとしてホラッチャさん以来の大好きなDMさんです。

｢橘｣初めはこの動画になりました。個人的な感覚ですが、2018年と2019年はローズの残り香みたいなモノが感じられて好きなんです。参加した部員さんが残ってるせいかも知れませんがパレードを彼等自身が心底楽しんでいるように感じます。
4年前の見ましたやっぱりいいですね皆さんが元気でダンスしながらの伴奏がいいですね元気でいってください

DMさんのバトントワリング始めて見ました。カッコイイ。でもあれバトンじゃないよね、あんな長い指揮棒みたいなのでやるなんて凄いです。
バトントワリングの元はこれですよ。軍楽隊でバトン（指揮棒）を回す指揮者がいたのが始まりで、アメリカを始め一部のマーチングバンドでバトントワラーのお姉さんが先頭を歩くバンドが有るのは由来にかなっています。
その後競技化するために短くなったのです。橘では何代か前のDMさんも披露している映像がどこかに有りましたよ。

From other bands, you can say many things, techniques, with very powerful percussions, but a band, that has its own personality, that has the musical quality and energy, some people so involved in it, like Tachibana DOES NOT EXIST, Girls and Guys, my congratulations.
marching, flair choreography, musicality, there are schools that do each thing better than tachibana but no school that seems to do all 3 as well as tachibana together. The other thing I notice from watching other marching bands (mostly western) is that their sound is very much BLEEEAAAH here we are here's all we got, in your face, all the time, are you not impressed with out power of sound. Tachibana has a more 'come along, follow us' feel to it. They're a caricature of a marching band, something you'd see in old cartoons from the golden age of jazz and dixie where the characters would be strutting and marching down the street in a procession. The arrangements they play have instrument sections arranged so that they are speaking to each other in sound and answering back and forth. I don't think any other band has managed to capture that feeling like you're following the pied piper of hamelin, only here it's a gaggle of highschoolers luring you away with this 100 member conga line.

Isn't this particularly the most intense one among all Tachibana performances? The whole repertoire was repeated (twice? 3 times?), I can't believe this! You can see that at the end the whole members look totally out of gas. And I teared up out of unworldly joy.
I want to shake the hands and if allowed hug every one of you Tachibana band members.

The bow comes at 15:05. Its quick so you have to look closely.

Not only does she spot her, but someone on the blog pointed out to me that she gives a small bow in respect to a senpai and legendary Tachibana DM at 7:21.

The Lady Fan and supporter on the sidewalk that signals Drum Major " Okazel "that the clarinets and flautists have been cut off by a special train 12:50 for the win. Drum Major Okazel following in the leadership footprints of D.M. " Pimo "and D.M. " Ron "for the win. For me this street is the best one to live in Japan 27:34. " Seira " can really cook a beat to rest by while marching 28:56. The Kyoto Tachibana Supporter Staff for the win. d:)

Is that Okazel (?) leading the band? If so, how do they decide when she should play the clarinet versus being the drum major? Either way she always performs beautifully :)
DM plays at sit down performances
She also played the clarinet when she was in 1st and 2nd year of SHS. She was DM during the 3rd year of SHS.

@@CaseyRoche DM is elected by club members when she was in 1st year, then trained by senior DMs. While playing instrument in 1st and 2nd year, she prepare herself to be a DM. I think it is a heavy duty.

Marschtanz63, Thank you for a great video, under very trying conditions to video anything. Some of the streets are acceptable for marching bands, other sections seem like small alley ways. Absolutely no offense meant to any body, but the safety of participants and crowds should be a concern. Yes...I know its a Japanese custom for close quarters...... So glad to see Drum Major "O.....(nick name withheld per request of school and family) but glad at 17:42 she twirled her Mace and did a very creditable job....one of the few Drum Majors in recent wind club history that has mastered that important part of her showmanship.... Over all...a great presentation, to bad this is one of the few last times we will get to see this group until next year, To the staff and students of the wind club....Arigatou gozaimasu, for a great season....

.....Eugene, the last student in the band walking solo w/o and instrument is a French Horn player. On this day the Horn section marched at full strength, so rather than not include him, he has the option to still march but not play. There could be many other reasons that we do not and will not know about, but usually that's the case. The D.M.'s red top is probably acknowledgement of the organizer or sponsor of the parade and Festival. Many things that Tachibana and other Japanese marching bands (wind clubs) do is different to what we consider 'normal', just a difference in cultures, most find it very refreshing.

Hi, these are the 115th, 116th, and 117th Terms gathered this day. 2/3rds of which marched/ danced/ played in the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade. The Drum Major carried the Japanese National Flag and the Picolo Player in the last rank carried the Green Band Association Flag and became the 2019 Drum Major.

They can really bounce, just like her"W"

This video is 2018 (115th term). Drum Major was "Okazel" but her real name is Yui. She is now a member of O-VILS.
