It's 2024 and I've just gotten into WoW, I've always wanted too but never did. I'm only retail but from whst I've seen and heard on the few discords I'm on, the new expansion is doing some solid work. I know I'll be buying TWW in a couple weeks.

I stopped playing wow after legion and went to private server, been playing there for 10 years or more, now with the release of TWW, I decided to give it a shot and I‘m having the fun of my life, lot of stuff to do and also the game is so smooth with this fancy graphics, I really like it right now, I think everyone should try every aspect of it and stick to what you enjoy
This is the 1st time since I created my account in 2006 that I am not playing at launch and might not play at all. Everything no longer resonates with me. I find the story to be boring and too friendly. I would love for War and Hate to come back in world of WARcraft

It's really not that complicated. I was confused for all of like... 10 minutes when it came out. This system allows for people of all backgrounds to upgrade their gear using content relevant to their skill level while disincentivising degenerate gameplay such as top 1% m+ players farming low keys for valor points.
Too simple is boring. I mean I understand because professions are complicated af but if you spend 5 minutes actually trying to understand it it’s very simple.
im a very casual player who drops in and out of xpacs butim really enjoying this one, especially delves as a solo player. Also you are one of the best wow youtubers ive found, not overediting just giving your thoughts in a fun and interesting way
What a great review. I can't really agree with everything, of course, but this is an honest review. I feel like many big youtubers, during the last few years, try to post a positive review of the game to make their audience bigger. And mid season they are already complaining. My character, that I still play today - which had one mandatory server transfer during the early merges to destromath and one voluntary transfer to get away from PVP servers as I got older and now lives on proudmore and has since MOP - was created on 24nov2004 (I pulled my info from blizzard to see). I actually played closed beta pull 2 and open beta and bough the game on release but had to install and update which took the better part of 24 hours. I still remember the moment my guild downed ony for the first time, and rag, and the first time we went into Bwl and got crushed by Vael (the destroyer of guilds ). I also removed when I got my wrath helm, and my might set bonus. And most importantly- I can remember the moment I pulled quel’serrar out of that evil dragon and got my sword. I have my 10 year thank you statue - which they make you buy now. I paid for my account every month since 2004 because I loved blizzard and would be an expansion tourist. Come, log in get max level, do the raid on LFR, do the dungeons, play the story…. Get a nice high ilvl… and get bored and stop playing. I’ll say this, I’m more engaged with war within than any time since cata/MOP. We will see if I get bored, maybe I will. But I’m happy with my decision to come back. I actually stopped paying and playing during shadowlands when blizzard sent out a employment position and basically said “no straight white men” well if they wouldn’t want me to work there, then I won’t give them my money; that couples with the crap that was shadowlands. I played the last 3-4 weeks of dragon flight - it was fine. I wish gear meant more - I wish they would do different names and looks by difficulty- I want something to fight for and try for like quel’serrar because the different tracks don’t matter to me. It’s getting that thing. So when I get it, I feel complete. Thanks for the video.
Stopped playing in shadowlands. Took dragonflight off because of my overall disgust in modern Blizzard. Getting tempted to try new xpack, but I'll wait until the honeymoon phase is over
It’s alright, the story is pretty mid and delves don’t really have an identity yet, being solo or group content, and the gameplay is pretty fun. Also easier to have alts finally lol

You claim that retail players complain about retail, so they go play Classic and never come back, but that is not true for me and my friends. We went hard in 2019 Classic, came back to Shadowlands and actually enjoyed it a ton, fell off with Dragonflight, went hard in SoD for a while until TWW, and now we are playing TWW more than we ever have played any version of WoW before bcuz it is genuinely excellent. We will 100% be playing Classic+ whenever that happens too. And if we ever get bored, we have Classic Era and Cata or whatever is available at that time. WE CAN’T LOSE BCUZ WE HAVE SO MANY FLAVORS OF WOW NOW. 🎉
It's true for me, after shadowlands I haven't gone back to retail. I now split my time between vanilla and cataclysm as I see no need to go back to retail, especially after that woke crap dragon flight

Long time players are very keen on their own fav classes. Me too. I love Warrior and Pally. And hang me if u wanna but from dps classes i like Arms Warrior over Fury. Caster dps is easy choice for me. Deamonology all they long sometimes affliction.
I mean, i'd highly disagree that people don't care about immersion. Plenty people play specific classes for the immersion. Some people who don't have as much time to play specifically want to play the class they like for that immersion. That point I feel like is more just a self mirroring and not really fact. Also, acting like TWW storytelling is EXACTLY the same as every other expansion and that they come out of nowhere is just blatantly false. The reason you don't know where they come from is because 90% of the WoW playerbase (probably closer to 95%) just doesn't pay attention to the story. Some of these story ties go back years and years. The way they make connections to previous events and how character development has gone forward in this expansion is MILES above anything previously. They're fixing old lose ends. Also, you KNOW Sylvanas is going to come back in Midnight. There's no way she won't If we're dealing with a reunification of all the elves, there's no way they throw aside the conflict between Tyrande Whisperwind and Sylvanas. It will likely have been close to 6-7 in game years (At least) Since Sylvanas was tasked with finding all the souls in the Maw. It seems likely that she can make a return in Midnight, an elf focused expansion. This also ties up any remaining loose threads from BFA/Shadowlands so we can all move past it. Anduin no longer a soy boy with PTSD, Sylvanas will be back, and we have a new home for the Night Elves.
I came back just because I've always been an Anub'arak fan. Played a little in BFA but before that not since Wrath. I'm enjoying the delves because I can just AFK and get up guilt free.
As someone who quit dragonflight season 3, from what i see of this xpac its just a dragonflight 2.0. All they added was 10 extra talent points to the tree. What really is different?
I totally agree on the "solo life". Coming from SoD, where I talked with so many randoms and whenever we saw eachother in orgrimmar people waved at eachother etc. 8/10 dungeons people don't even say "hi" in chat :D
Blizzard clearly rushed this expansion. The numerous bugs and more frequent maintenance than usual. The mass class changes coming in Nov. But it is what it is. I'm having fun for what it is playing casually doing a delve here and there while they are working, a M0 here and there. And leveling my alt army. Beyond that. There is nothing new or innovative with it. It's wow. Level and gear same old story.
I had a tough time getting into Dragonflight and I'm having a tough time playing TWW I boot up the game play for maybe an hour and log off again and I promise myself I'll log back in again later or tomorrow but the truth is tomorrow never seems to come. Blizzard is a formal shell of what it once was. Hell, gaming in general feels like a shell of what it used to be and I'm not really on board.

I don't think it sold as well as Dragonflight and Dragonflight didnt sell as well as Shadowlands. If there's numbers showing I'm wrong so be it. But SL and the audit pushed a lot of people away. Not sure if those people are coming back
They don't ask because bliz asks them not to, bliz sub release info is storied documented. They'll do it in a few months if it makes them look good. The silence being shocking kinda means you are new to either paying attention or wow in general.
No I am not curious in the least how it sold. I played when WoW was loosing massive subs and gaining it was gaining them. I play it if I want to, I dont when I dont want to. Currently, there is stuff on tap that I am enjoying, so I will stick with it.
They should have 1 zone out of the 4 we get per expansion where you can fly if they want a vertical zone. Flying is not the problem. World wide flying is.
Im enjoying it after not playing since BFA and just playing classic but yeah....ive waved tried talking to randoms or in trade and it was crickets lol. I definitely see the difference between playing retail and classic when it comes to the social side of it.
That's great that you used to fight the horde or the alliance, but then they realized they can't keep making stories about the horde and alliance spontaneously allying, becoming hostile, then allying again without losing immersion. They realized games like FF14 didn't need crossfaction enmity and that people were actively siphoning players from other factions. Remember Classic TBC when Benediction became Alliance-only despite being a PvP server? Remember when a 40/60 pop meant that if you were on the 40 side you would slowly see your server die out as people mass-migrated to the 1-faction-only "PvP" realms? Because people really love warcraft... for the first few months before the gryphon riders get camped. FF14 showed everyone that you can tell complex, singleplayer stories with huge pay-off over the span of several expansions, and WoW is still trying to catch up with faulty infrastructure.
I thought i was having fun doing delves, solo shuffle, BG blitz, questing, achievements, mountfarming, world pvp etc... But seems i was wrong, and now im depressed. Cheers.
loving random bgs as always but im just doing the same old bgs and I have close to zero interest to progress into rated content apart from the rewards. As a long time healer I have just reached a point were I am limiting my gametime away from intense sweaty gameplay and childish toxicity towards more chill stuff.
4:25 I jumped in into Dragonflight with the ending of season 3, played whole season 4 but did not run any dungeons or raids(save from a handful LFR). WoW is all about re-running the content over and over. The thing is, for me Mythic+ is trash. I do like the idea that all the enemies in the Dungeon do more damage, I just dislike those "modifiers". I ran M+ in Battle for Azeroth on multiple characters in all seasons, and those modifiers are not "hard"... some of them are forgettable and others are just plain annoying to the point where it doesn't feel "fun" anymore. I have nothing against repeating the content over and over, but the thing is... that content has to be FUN. Mythic+ is not fun, especially the fact that while in BfA you had to run ONE M+10 dungeon a week now since Dragonflight you need to run EIGHT, so you get those 4 choices. In a game where you can play 13 classes(!) they try their best to make you grind out like crazy ONE toon. Weird. I play War Within, leveled 2 toons up, found the Campaign kinda boring. That and the fact that most important characters in the Campaign are female. Nothing wrong with that, but why not balance it? Delves... I found them boring. Delves are like you play a Rogue-light game that doesn't have allot RNG stuff for the level you run into. If you take a look at Deep Rock Galactic, every time you enter the cave it looks totally different. Not so in Delves, always the same cave and enemies, just like a Dungeon. 11:30 Actually yes, Just go try Final Fantasy 14, that one also has really good dungeons. Though the graphical style is different to WoW, not as comic. Also it has a world CD of 2.5 seconds compared to WoW's 1.5 seconds, so it plays slower.
I love retail as a overall game but they really fix leveling and what i mean by that is to make leveling harder. I'm not saying it should like vanilla leveling but now it's an absolute face roll and not fun at all.
So far all I’ve done is level three characters to max and grinder PvP gear on all of them. The gearing process is actually really annoying. You need to craft embellishments, jewelry, and grind honor like fucking crazy to get gen sockets. 150 honor from a BG blitz win but I need 12500 for one gem socket?? Holy shit.
I understand your wanting to know how the game is selling, but I wonder why is knowing that so important? If you are having fun, WoW is likely one of the cheapest (from a financial perspective) form of online entertainment you kind find. $15 bucks a month for 100 hours plus of entertainment for me in that month. That’s hard to beat.
If you can handle the slow combat, you might want to take a vacation in Classic (I know you hate it) most of your complaints would be solved lol. Ya, PvP doesn't seem to be hoping. 8 min epic bg qs, 15min bliz qs, and 20 min solo shuffles for dps. I q with a healer to get around that, but most people don't have that option. Still the most enjoyable PvP game. I'm a fan of cooldown trading.
I used to only pvp but I took a break and every time I would try it I get one shot and there’s nothing you can do till you get gear and then if there was borrow power forget about it
I think i played every MF class in WoW. I was very good at Arms and Demonology. Easy classes. But dont get me wrong, i aint slow. Mechanics from those classes are 4 me cool. Or im just getting old. Whatever.

Play thru even 1 expansion and then if ur having fun just continue. Ppl are mean in WoW for noobs, that much is true. Even in normal dungs. I always tryina play messiah and dont kick those ppl out. Lmao it is not at all. They take wayyy too long, tuning is terrible. Way too many casts. It’s pretty cringe. I’ve been completing them but I’m out here doing calc 2 just to get through them
I don't think the game sold well because the advertisement was TERRIBLE. I took a break after the first patch of dragon flight. just watching the advertisement alone, i have ZERO idea what the game is even about! They just told to me to " get back in the fight". I still do not know what the hell the plot of this game is or why i should buy it. At least with dragon flight the painted it as an adventure to a new land with dragons and things to discover this expansion we got absolutely nothing.

There are some glaring DEI/ESG red flags in this xpac that might ruin it for some people. The female dwarves with beards is one thing; this has literally never been seen before on any dwarf race in WoW but suddenly half the earthen females have big ol beards. It's gross, and you're gross if you disagree. The Arathi faction head missing an arm is another thing; we've never seen characters with missing limbs in WoW before, other than changing your character's eyesight in the barbershop. Here's the thing; suddenly introducing a main character with a very obvious disability was not a choice made in a vacuum; Blizzard is glazing Blackrock and the pink hair brigade pretty hard right now. The xpac is fun, but the DEI stuff is really irritating to see and makes me feel like I've wasted my money every time I see it.
Zuljin…. Kargath…. Female dwarves have beards in Tolkien lore and many other franchises that follow the classic dwarf fantasy. Yes it’s odd that earthen women got beards while dwarves never did, but it feels natural still to me due to knowing dwarf lore outside wow. I’m absolutely not woke. Disney Star Wars is an abomination. You are looking too hard to find something woke here. My major criticism of the Arathi humans is that their design and style is almost a copy paste of Diablo 4 knights faction.
That opening cinematic of dragon flight kept me away from refail. Flying around like Spiro the dragon in a woke infested fantasy world does not appeal to me. Even without the woke crap, flying around fast is a selling point to them? It's a gimmick that adds nothing. The bar with current WOW is very low and it's not interesting at all. Loving my time in classic
I love Wow and have played since vanilla but I’m 47 now and I hate people, life and a people job means I just want to enjoy the world and be left alone. Maybe an ageing population in the game has an impact on the interaction.
I think that's a small part of it. I think this dude is right in saying it's discord and game design destroying the social aspect of the game. I really miss the ridiculous conversations in trade and general.

They should have 1 zone out of the 4 we get per expansion where you can fly if they want a vertical zone. Flying is not the problem. World wide flying is.

Im enjoying it after not playing since BFA and just playing classic but yeah....ive waved tried talking to randoms or in trade and it was crickets lol. I definitely see the difference between playing retail and classic when it comes to the social side of it.

That's great that you used to fight the horde or the alliance, but then they realized they can't keep making stories about the horde and alliance spontaneously allying, becoming hostile, then allying again without losing immersion. They realized games like FF14 didn't need crossfaction enmity and that people were actively siphoning players from other factions. Remember Classic TBC when Benediction became Alliance-only despite being a PvP server? Remember when a 40/60 pop meant that if you were on the 40 side you would slowly see your server die out as people mass-migrated to the 1-faction-only "PvP" realms? Because people really love warcraft... for the first few months before the gryphon riders get camped. FF14 showed everyone that you can tell complex, singleplayer stories with huge pay-off over the span of several expansions, and WoW is still trying to catch up with faulty infrastructure.
I thought i was having fun doing delves, solo shuffle, BG blitz, questing, achievements, mountfarming, world pvp etc... But seems i was wrong, and now im depressed. Cheers.

loving random bgs as always but im just doing the same old bgs and I have close to zero interest to progress into rated content apart from the rewards. As a long time healer I have just reached a point were I am limiting my gametime away from intense sweaty gameplay and childish toxicity towards more chill stuff.

4:25 I jumped in into Dragonflight with the ending of season 3, played whole season 4 but did not run any dungeons or raids(save from a handful LFR). WoW is all about re-running the content over and over. The thing is, for me Mythic+ is trash. I do like the idea that all the enemies in the Dungeon do more damage, I just dislike those "modifiers". I ran M+ in Battle for Azeroth on multiple characters in all seasons, and those modifiers are not "hard"... some of them are forgettable and others are just plain annoying to the point where it doesn't feel "fun" anymore.
I have nothing against repeating the content over and over, but the thing is... that content has to be FUN. Mythic+ is not fun, especially the fact that while in BfA you had to run ONE M+10 dungeon a week now since Dragonflight you need to run EIGHT, so you get those 4 choices.
In a game where you can play 13 classes(!) they try their best to make you grind out like crazy ONE toon. Weird.
I play War Within, leveled 2 toons up, found the Campaign kinda boring. That and the fact that most important characters in the Campaign are female. Nothing wrong with that, but why not balance it?
Delves... I found them boring. Delves are like you play a Rogue-light game that doesn't have allot RNG stuff for the level you run into. If you take a look at Deep Rock Galactic, every time you enter the cave it looks totally different. Not so in Delves, always the same cave and enemies, just like a Dungeon.
11:30 Actually yes, Just go try Final Fantasy 14, that one also has really good dungeons. Though the graphical style is different to WoW, not as comic. Also it has a world CD of 2.5 seconds compared to WoW's 1.5 seconds, so it plays slower.
I love retail as a overall game but they really fix leveling and what i mean by that is to make leveling harder. I'm not saying it should like vanilla leveling but now it's an absolute face roll and not fun at all.

So far all I’ve done is level three characters to max and grinder PvP gear on all of them.
The gearing process is actually really annoying. You need to craft embellishments, jewelry, and grind honor like fucking crazy to get gen sockets. 150 honor from a BG blitz win but I need 12500 for one gem socket?? Holy shit.
I understand your wanting to know how the game is selling, but I wonder why is knowing that so important? If you are having fun, WoW is likely one of the cheapest (from a financial perspective) form of online entertainment you kind find. $15 bucks a month for 100 hours plus of entertainment for me in that month. That’s hard to beat.
If you can handle the slow combat, you might want to take a vacation in Classic (I know you hate it) most of your complaints would be solved lol.
Ya, PvP doesn't seem to be hoping. 8 min epic bg qs, 15min bliz qs, and 20 min solo shuffles for dps. I q with a healer to get around that, but most people don't have that option. Still the most enjoyable PvP game. I'm a fan of cooldown trading.
Loving delves this exp, glad it's not m+ m+ m+ things evolve you gotta evolve wih them... if the story allways stays the same whats the point ? Right
I used to only pvp but I took a break and every time I would try it I get one shot and there’s nothing you can do till you get gear and then if there was borrow power forget about it

I think i played every MF class in WoW. I was very good at Arms and Demonology. Easy classes. But dont get me wrong, i aint slow. Mechanics from those classes are 4 me cool. Or im just getting old. Whatever.

How theres gonna BE new ppl if u wont let them practice!? Its just a normal dung for crying out loud.

Lmao it is not at all. They take wayyy too long, tuning is terrible. Way too many casts. It’s pretty cringe. I’ve been completing them but I’m out here doing calc 2 just to get through them

I don't think the game sold well because the advertisement was TERRIBLE. I took a break after the first patch of dragon flight. just watching the advertisement alone, i have ZERO idea what the game is even about! They just told to me to " get back in the fight". I still do not know what the hell the plot of this game is or why i should buy it. At least with dragon flight the painted it as an adventure to a new land with dragons and things to discover this expansion we got absolutely nothing.

its this diverse group of treehuggers that dont understand what made wow great , it needs strong characters , it needs hate between the factions and more socialization like the vanilla . There are some glaring DEI/ESG red flags in this xpac that might ruin it for some people. The female dwarves with beards is one thing; this has literally never been seen before on any dwarf race in WoW but suddenly half the earthen females have big ol beards. It's gross, and you're gross if you disagree. The Arathi faction head missing an arm is another thing; we've never seen characters with missing limbs in WoW before, other than changing your character's eyesight in the barbershop. Here's the thing; suddenly introducing a main character with a very obvious disability was not a choice made in a vacuum; Blizzard is glazing Blackrock and the pink hair brigade pretty hard right now. The xpac is fun, but the DEI stuff is really irritating to see and makes me feel like I've wasted my money every time I see it.
Zuljin…. Kargath…. Female dwarves have beards in Tolkien lore and many other franchises that follow the classic dwarf fantasy. Yes it’s odd that earthen women got beards while dwarves never did, but it feels natural still to me due to knowing dwarf lore outside wow.

That opening cinematic of dragon flight kept me away from refail. Flying around like Spiro the dragon in a woke infested fantasy world does not appeal to me. Even without the woke crap, flying around fast is a selling point to them? It's a gimmick that adds nothing. The bar with current WOW is very low and it's not interesting at all. Loving my time in classic

I love Wow and have played since vanilla but I’m 47 now and I hate people, life and a people job means I just want to enjoy the world and be left alone. Maybe an ageing population in the game has an impact on the interaction.
I think that's a small part of it. I think this dude is right in saying it's discord and game design destroying the social aspect of the game. I really miss the ridiculous conversations in trade and general.
