When a pair of private detectives, Donegal Dawn and Robert Rand, investigate a crime wave that has hit Vancouver's Chinatown, they uncover an enigmatic cult known as "The Black Robe." But Rand's objectivity is lost when he falls in love with Zenobia, the high priestess of the cabal.
Thank you for sharing this, a real treat! Actors were made of sterner stuff back then... the studio was so cold you could see their breath steaming! Delightful thank you!
Interesting to see an early Canadian production. Lots of fun in this one. The film industry at that time seems to have had a love affair with everything Asian, there were scores of pictures made with this theme, including detective series like "Charlie Chan", "Mr. Wong Detective" and "Mr. Moto". The actress reminds me a lot of a very young Joan Bennett , who was also a platinum blonde at the time.
Thanks for sharing this! Also I just adore your art deco intro🛕
Set decorators were being thrifty and used the same prop - photo frame with figure looking to the left - seen at 3:59 (hanging on the wall behind him to the right) and 23:51 (on the table in foreground). I'll keep an eye out for more! Sorry if I seem to be spoiling the movie for you by noticing such things.
The film is in incredible condition considering the age
Thanks, Pizza 🍕 Flix for sharing Monday Classic Movie night. Love Noir Detective films . I'm ready !! 😉 ...🇺🇲📽️🍿

COWBOY!!! Snappy new dudz pic - when did this happen?!? You're lookin' kinda like a well-heeled riverboat gambling proprietor ORRRRR a gunslingin' private eye from the 1800's big city lights time-travel-shadowing Joseph Diego "Casey" Ramirez in 1984 Princeton (researched him last week). Get 'em, Cowboy! Moved to a nightmare town, like that one, a few years ago.
😎😎😎 LUVVV your Colts. Are your replicas functioning? Kinda disturbing seeing the red on you, though - hope it's a tie, & not blood.
I played dentist today. 😏 Called a certain state's Supreme Court ... finally persuaded, with a little bit of novacaine, an uncooperative appellate's office clerk's supervisor to agree to photocopy & send me a certain 84-page PETITION against a certain TopDogCoolCat & the judge's corresponding Ruling; plus, the Senator's Public Info Dept is sending me the § hardcopy!!! 🎉🎉🎉 (I'd already screenshotted 'em all, but I prefer the hardcopies for perusing & pondering & highlighting & marking in red ink with under-linings & ☆stars☆ - lol. My Federal Senator's aide sent me my pocket Constitution two Autumns ago, which got E-VON more red-penned-up today - lol!) Twas a pretty good day!!! ;)
Homemade tacos & rootbeer time!
Have a good evening, Cowboy!

You know what I like Pizza!
Nothing like jumping right in to some 1930's fast paced action!
No wasting time with this one, Thanks!
Boy, I do love a good 1930s poverty row picture. And when the print is also good, even more. Thanks for another
🍕🍕Thank you 🍕PizzaFlix 🍕Good to see James Flavin 🦍and Lucille Browne not in a western 🤠🐴💍🥰🍕 A good week to you sir 🍕🍕👍
Thank you Pizzaflix! 🎃😀
Yes! Time to watch. Thanks for posting.
Absolutely love these old B movies.
Guy in the turbin needs a new disguise and his freeze, dither, then flee needs work. Also they could have gotten the Romeo.out of there before they waxed philosophical.
At around 12 minutes, after the butler exits, people exhale smoke when they talk.
It's probably so cold, you can see their breath.
@@michelleayres5608set scenes for this movie were filmed in an unheated horse barn. Very chilly and moist.
Many many different TV shows and movies are filmed on sets so cold that you can see their breath. I just seen it on the original Ultraman TV show for example.
Cost a lot to heat those big spaces... so they don't. Screw the actors. 🐻❄
❤I LOVE Pizzaflix❣️❣️❣️😍🤩🥰
It is nice to see more true Asian actors than in many other movies. But what a policeman! One look and he announces the man "Dead!" check a pulse at least! Very enjoyable but how cold were the studios. More old Canadian films if possibly please!
Interesting to see James Flavin a a role on the opposite side of the law, he almost always portrays a cop/detective.
Thanks for sharing Tonights movie
Slow by modern standards but worth the wait.
❤Love this- so much 💕
Pretty cool man
The score reminds me of Bernard Herrmann's Psycho opening. Uncanny
Did you happen to sneak in classic big foot horrors?
So, are we in Washington State .....or. B.C. ?
There's no Chinatown in Vancouver WA but there is in BC.
im assuming Canada as that was what was shown at the outset on the map...
It was filmed in Victoria, BC and I think they actually reference Vancouver Island late in the movie when the plan is revealed.
It's Vancouver. It's in the video description. Good film!
The building at 1:03 still stands, in Vancouver, BC, on Pender street.
Kwong Yee Lung Co. sold herbs there for a long time
entertaining again
