It's funny how many people remember these guys from their "performances" on video games. There's a soccer game called _Football Manager_ where you can find retrospectives online about wonderkids who didn't pan out but became legendary to some people simply for how good they became in that game.
I’m sorry but @stuntedgrowth should easily have over 1 million subscribers with how interesting, knowledgeable and professional his videos are, genuine knowledge. Thank you man keep this up!!
It’s crazy how easy you forget how crazy it was that Kevin Durant was drafted all the way back in 2007. It seems like out Thorton was in the NBA way before Kevin Durant crazy just to think about it.
Damn, this is old-school AL Thorton!! I remember as a teenager watching out Thorton. That’s some old-school shit. Thanks for doing what you do man we love your videos they give me through the long workday or long bullshit day, whichever one.
1. What killed his career was being drafted by the Clippers organization. People truly forget that along with the Sacramento Kings, that's usually where careers went to die in the 1990s and 2000s. 2. He had no defined position. He could slash past power forwards, but couldn't defend them in the paint. He could defend small forwards, but couldn't stretch the floor with his shooting and had a suspect handle that negatively affected his passing and caused him to turnover the ball a lot. 3. He never improved any aspect of his game as was stated in the video. He was overly reliant on his athleticism. Once he started having injury trouble, that severely hindered his game and he was out of the league soon thereafter.
Yeah, I remember when he was drafted, Jay Bilas said "I don't know if anyone plays harder than Al Thornton", but it seemed like when he got to the league, got the big contract and such that he didn't put the same work in, which happens a good amount with pros. Plus, the injuries really did take their toll on him. His athleticism really was his best asset as a pro, but when that began to slip due to the injuries, he really had no place in the NBA
Can you do one on Sean Williams from the new jersey nets I remember he had some potential and hype to him but he never could keep it together and was out the league within 5 years
Oh man, Boston College's finest!!! That was a really good Era for BC...Him, Sean Marshall, Jared Dudley, Louis Hinnant...they had some really good teams in the ACC...Sean was a first round pick and was SUPER athletic, but yeah, he just never amounted to anything in the NBA
His efficiency was never bad, at least from the field. 43% as a rookie, not great but not awful. 45% his 2nd year, 47% his 3rd year & 48% his 4th and final NVA season.
Can you do a spurt growth for Lu Dort, From Undrafted To a two way contract To a fully guaranteed contract To drop 30 on James Harden in a game 7 while locking out the best guards of the NBA To a second contract
Al was my guy. Fsu fan since 2004. He is not a bust. Staff do not know how to utilize talent. Teams draft without an identity. That leaves teams to scramble and try to figure it out as you go. I would've kept em.
Was one of those guys who had all the tools to be a super star except the being a super star part of the game haha. Always made him a star in the early 10s NBA live and 2ks tho.
Yeah, I played some street ball against him when we were younger, right before he hit his growth spurt. I'm from Warner Robins GA, but I knew his family. My aunt played HS ball with his sisters..
He was one prospect i was wrong about. I wanted my Sixers to take his more polished offensive game over Thad young. I mean - at first it looked like he was gonna take off , he produced in his 1st few seasons. Idk , maybe it was more IQ or attitude issues? Seemed her certainly had the potential.
DENNIS RODMAN !!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! DEFENSE - REBOUNDING - NO FEAR PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!! WARRIOR PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! NEVER STOP PLAYING HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!! PERFECT EXAMPLE HOW 2 STAY IN DA NBA PERIOD!!!!!!!! PATRICK BEVERLY PERIOD!!!!!!!!!
As usual, getting drafted by the Clippers is the doom of any player who needs a bit more attention and care to develop. Didn't help that they got Blake a year or two later and went all in on the Lob City vision. Would have been interesting to see how he could have developed on a more competent franchise.
That’s BS claiming someone has no career because he’s out of a fkn show league (that’s what the NBA definitely is) If you think the NBA is the only professional league to have a remarkable career in might just show how limited the horizon of American people is. I think Al had enough competition in all his teams & leagues he played in, maybe even more fun, success and money. Cheers Btw I forgot to mention: your clips are fire anyway, I watch them all :) go on
I felt like Al Torton had a chance to be a quality starter but with his injuries and playing for an organization like The Clippers didn't work in his favor.
Still playing b-ball at 38 yrs old ??? HOPE he's putting some money away and investing it also. The next chapter of his work in the REAL world is shortening, best to leave b-ball before a-MAJOR-injury takes place, which affect his ability to hold down an actual job.
You do know everyone aint supposed to make it big in the nba right? I understand maybe the first yr of doing this but now its like lets pick anyone who was halfway decent and make a video on why their not a 10 time all star man stop it 😂😂😂
Had all the physical tools to be a solid NBA player. With some skill development Al Thornton could've been an all star.
Al Thornton was a great rookie. Thought he would average 20ppg the next year
Do Michael redd please
@@user-mp5hq5fh4t No. Michael Redd was a 2nd Round Pick that became an All-star and Olympian. He far exceeded his expectations
Todd Day
@@absolute95allah7Now you're talking. Should've been Rolando Blackman or a poor man's Ray Allen
Al Thorton!!! I Used To Get Buckets With Him On 2k8!

He used to come in and COOK off of the bench… hated him lol

I love this channel because it's nothing but "I remember that guy! What the hell happened to him?"
Completely forgot about this dude, I remember thinking he had major potential
Remember on 2k for the the psp he'd had a 99 rating on offensive rebounds. Reggie even was the same.
He was like Finney Smith without a Jumper, but with a crazy motor and Athleticism

As a Filipino, I enjoyed watching Al Thornton and his scoring prowess in the PBA. Probably my favorite import of all-time in the PBA.
I forgot about this guy🤦🏽♂️
This a good one, I low key forgot about Al Thorton

I literally thought about Thronton. after watching the Jan Vesely video.

Can you do a spurt growth for Lu Dort,
From Undrafted
To a two way contract
To a fully guaranteed contract
To drop 30 on James Harden in a game 7 while locking out the best guards of the NBA
To a second contract
24 is super old for a draft pick. How much can you really develop? After 2 years or so in the NBA, you are who you are at 26 years old.
I love Al Thornton. Should've been a Jimmy Butler type
One of my fav players growing up. He was nice on the Clippers🔥
I forgot all about him. Appreciate the flashback 💯

I really liked him as a player. Thought he was gonna take up the mantle for Corey Maggette on the Clippers.
Was one of those guys who had all the tools to be a super star except the being a super star part of the game haha. Always made him a star in the early 10s NBA live and 2ks tho.
Hello, how about you make a video about Romeo Travis, LeBron's teammate in high school. Thanks 🙏
he grew up not far from me 🫠
Yeah, I played some street ball against him when we were younger, right before he hit his growth spurt. I'm from Warner Robins GA, but I knew his family. My aunt played HS ball with his sisters..
Daaaang - you're in your bag with this one! Completely forgot about buddy
I just subscribed to this channel. Can we please get a story on Greg Odom?
Still waiting on the Scotty Thurman profile

How about a story on Cory Magette or Adam Morrison
Do one for Patrick McCaw, as what Jerry West said, they’ll be sorry they didn’t take him. Been out of the league since 2021.
Real original 💀
He was a very good player...injuries set him back
Hey @stuntedgrowth have you ever covered Khalid El-Amin?

You should do my homeboy Ricky Clemmons from NC
The nba is one big predetermined drama. Guys like Al threatened the script.
Thornton would kill it in the current NBA. I think they just didn't know how to use him. Also his basketball IQ may not have been as high as others.
How would he kill now he can't shoot or run an offensive system like Draymond?
@@andrebryant5081 huh
