Thank you for sharing your experience I will be starting humira tomorrow it’s been a long 9 yrs for me just finding out what’s going onto finally getting diagnosed with chrons Again Thank you so much you really help ease my mind
Do you work within a hospital as a dietician? I'm an RN and the hospital I used to work at will no longer hire me because I'm on immunosuppressants. Not even a local Assisted Living facility.
I've been waiting for a disability hearing for 5 years now. My hearing is finally scheduled for Dec. 6th. Such a long wait and they don't allow you to work at all before your hearing. With all the damage done from steroids over a period of 5 years, I couldn't work a full shift anymore even if they let me. Been a hard struggle for sure. I feel your frustration.
Ugh. That's tough. I'm still an intern. I'll hopefully be working full time next spring. My hope is to not work in an acute care setting because of the risk to myself. There shouldn't be a need to disclose your use of immunouppressants. I've heard terrible things about disability hearings. But I feel you about the steroids. They are god awful. I wish you all the best!
Thanks, yeah I had to bring my medications when the hospital hired me without knowing I was on suppressants, Of course when I had to bring my medications in for the employee drug testing, that's when they found out and everything stopped at that point. I even asked for an administration position but they said those employees get just as sick as all the other staff in the hospital. Yeah, ugh! Well if you aren't going to be around hospitals, you may be fine. Just be careful and wear your gear if need be with certain patients. Cheers and hang in there. I have Ulcerative Colitis, Psoriatic arthritis and severe dermatitis. But, my Humira seems to be helping quite a bit. Like you, I hope I don't lose it due to costs.
Your videos are so insightful. I am watching each of them. I wish i found them earlier!!
