I'd rather something actually edible.
...oh thank god normal sponsor scott takes
@MetalPetalGW2real i would be concerned if it wasnt edible 😭
@MetalPetalGW2realI actually kinda like a few of them. I've tried maybe 4 or 5 different ones. Yeah, it's not good ol mom's home cooked goodness.. but if ya cook awful like I do, it's a very good meal😅
@MetalPetalGW2real Have you tried it or are you just hating? I've been thinking about trying it out...
The long hiatus of a Scott the Woz video.
Literally what I was thinking😂This very easily could have been a Scott The Woz video, but NOOOO
I find it really funny how Mega Man 11 was already this "Mega Man is back!" moment for the franchise, but they took so long to make a new game that Dual Override is that moment all over again lol.
Just like Scott says in the video I remember seeing Geoff and just a lot of people going "Mega Man is finally back!" at the announcement and I was like "What? It already came back with a good ga... oh right, that was 2018."
Tomb Raider a franchise which has sold over 100 million units defeating the Halo Series 81 million units! ❤ Yet somehow Shadow came out in 2018 so when you exclude Legacy of Atlantis which is just 2007 Anniversary Unreal Engine 5 Remaster and with Catalyst releasing in 2027 that's a Massive 9 Year Gap between mainline installments! 💔 Sheesh these game development cycles feel like they take a lifetime. Okay so additionally everyone who agrees with me that Madison Beer should play Lara Croft instead of Sophie Turner? And I want to say that Madison Beer looks exactly Like 2006 Playstation Two Legend Lara Croft it's unbelievable! ❤ I mean I'm exactly right guys.
there has been a mega man game every year, even before 11 it was never gone… that is more than most series
Pandemic left a big time void between 2018 and this year
2010 to 2018 feels like an eon compared to 2018 to 2026 which feels like a few months
@RusticRonnie That was only before Mega Man 10. after Mega Man 10, the series got nothing but a few master collections until 11. same thing happened after 11 until Duel Override releases.
The Mother series isn't even dead, it is finished.
Why is this such a bad thing in general? Some franchises deserve to be finished.
Fr, a lot of people fail to understand this
Which, tbf, isn't really a thing Nintendo does, like just... finish a series without any chance of a reboot. Most of their franchises will last forever in one way or another
@Stok3dgaming Exactly.
@emilytheimp tbf itoi himself said he’s not bringing the series back
Hiatuses seem so much longer if the last game was bad.
star fox hiatus so long it doesn't show up in the thumbnail
Edit: He didn't even talk about it haha
RIP
what is star fox?
is that the guy from smash?
@sippingthe the furry, yeah
Star fox will be in that grave with kid Icarus, Django and so many others as company
Ya know, maybe this is why Kid Icarus: Uprising hasn't been remade yet. Sakurai probably has no idea how to do such a thing
Gonna be honest right now, your comment made me leave an ad-free browser just to say you are THE ONLY OTHER PERSON I have heard mention that game.
You have my respect for knowing that game.
Maybe Switch 2 mouse controls would work?
@jaysontron6986What? Why did you have to do that to comment?
@jaysontron6986 🎵Again today I will go soaring through the sky! My enemies I'll dish em up in a stir fry! Gracious goddess of light watches from up above! At dinnertime I always show the cook some love!🎵
We've heard that with how Nintendo works, dormant series usually don't come back unless they have some big producer being a cheerleader for them.
Seems like Sakurai's the main guy at Nintendo who cares enough about Kid Icarus to make new games, and he's just been consistently busy with other stuff.
Funny that you say this as Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden just came off their long hiatus with new entries
scott making a video about long franchise hiatuses and talking about the 8 year wait for the megaman game that silently put the half life sub into a weeklong psychosis in the background is mildly amusing to me
Well a hiatus implies they'll actually get a new game eventually.
WHY DO YOU KEEP SHOWING UP EVERYWHERE?!?!?
@zelaird8526 I saw the video he made about it, and I was confused because I hadn't seen him that often before, but now I get it.
I mean, technically we’ve now only been waiting less than 6 years for a new Half Life
@JakvsMetalheads999 the writer of half-life posted the story of episode three online in 2017.
Been way too long since we got a new Rayman. Actual goated franchise
Yeah. Ubisoft is just a mess now.
Tbf we did just get a remaster of Rayman 1... One I hear has a lot of flaws, but does at least exist, so there's hope for something new, also helps that Ubisoft can't stop teasing something's in development too. That said, if you're specifically more of a 3D Rayman fan like I am, we're eating absolute dirt out here
Ngl a simple remake of the old 3d games would SLAP
"Rayman 1 collection has ceased updates" announced a few days after launch 🫠
@valence7don't say that, Star Wars Outlaws was awesome. Ur mean
16:12 I can't believe scott took a long hiatus in the middle of the video!
Went off for some Erotic Violence
I'm still shocked that Castlevania came back from the dead. Like I was not expecting the announcement of Belmont's Curse in that recent State of Play
16:14 Scott had to commit to the bit and take a hiatus in the middle of the video.
Ace Attorney - 10 Years
SoJ - 2016
1:46 did someone say “factor?”
Imo the one of most egregious hiatuses is Rhythm Heaven. First game released in 2006, 4th game released 2015, 5th game is releasing 2026. Over half of the series’s existence has been spent waiting for a new game.
The thing with Mega Man as a franchise is that I don't think most Mega Man fans actually want _classic_ Mega Man to come back. 11 was a great note to end on and there aren't a lot of loose ends that need tying up.
What they really want is X9, or ZX3, or Legends 3. Each of those games have been left on a strong cliffhanger with unrealized potential for 20 years or more.
When a new classic Mega Man game is announced, it's more like, "Okay, you got the obligatory foot in the door, are you going to finish what you started now?"
The wait for _that_ is what's agonizing.
To be fair
Classic’s.. KIND of the main Mega Man.
If those series are gonna come back, might as well start with the one that most people are familiar with/recognize.
It’s why that Mega Man always gets collabs while the others don’t (sadly)
EXACTLY. In fact, I only want Mega Man X9 to have a story closure and then I just want them to keep evolving the Zero and ZX formula of sabre + buster gameplay
Now Mega Man Legends 3 I DESPERATELY need.
I agree, there’s definitely a crowd for classic, but there’s still three really big elephants in the room that really have to be acknowledged
Man this is so true. Dual override could be great but I want x9, zx 3 and legends 3 SO much more. we'd be lucky to get one of those 😮💨
With how long it's been I doubt many of the same people who were in charge of those stories originall are even still at the company. So we're probably better off with them not trying to complete X's, ZX's or Legend's stories anyway. Honestly I'd be more interested in them making a new sub-series for the Blue Bomber rather than just doing more samey Classic games, preferably one that isn't mobile slop like XOver.
29:40 "Didn't talk about Crash Bandicoot", meanwhile, Spyro is rotting on the corner.😂
Facts 😂
Well in all fairness it seems this video is about hiatuses that ended at some point
@Domz-14 good news toys for Bob is making a new game with Microsoft, but we don’t know what it is?
No mention of Elder Scrolls.... Last main entry was 15 years ago.
But at least we have 20 different versions of Skyrim
What do you mean? We've had so many titles since. Elder Scrolls Blades, Skyrim, Oblivion Remastered, Skyrim, Skyrim, Skyrim, Skyrim, Elder Scrolls Castles, Skyrim
Be honest: with how Bethesda is nowadays, do you really want an ES6?
We just got Oblivion Remastered tho?
@batmanbud2 Let's be real even if they did pump them out like they used to the elder scrolls games were always going to end up mediocre.
Their game design is firmly stuck in 2004 and they haven't changed since because they are uncreative and talentless
It really is inexplicable that Castlevania didn’t make any games to coincide with the Netflix shows. Even licensing the franchise out to get something to go with the game would have made sense.
And times have really changed when people are upset that a TV show doesn’t have a tie-in video game.
Dead Cells and Vampire Survivors had Castlevania DLC content at least
Because Netflixvania is just a way for Konami to make more money without videogames. It barely connects to the series outside of "its a vamp story", and it was foundationally written by a writer who hates the videogames.
@tllgestalt1942I get that you don’t really like the Netflix show, and that’s fine, but be so for real, the show is far more than something barely connected to the franchise. The main plot line regarding the death of Dracula’s wife is literally ripped straight from the game timeline, and the show constantly has characters from mainline games In the series, Easter eggs like the legion, hectors main demons from curse of darkness, saint jermain, etc.
If you don’t like the show that’s your personal opinion and your entitled to that, but saying the show is barely connected to the games is literally just a lie, one that can easily be disproven by watching the show and observing how every aspect of it takes plot lines, names, location, designs, mechanics, etc directly from the games.
@justabean5869the show was fundamentally pursued by bad faith writers who undermined the themes of the games and series out of spite. Konami didn't care. Igaraahi gave up on keeping it on course and it continued to devolve because the timber it was built upon is rotten.
That's why Konami never capitalised on in with something like a game release to coincide with a new season, because it's not a celebration of the franchise.
@tllgestalt1942 I don't see why a piece of media needs to be a celebration of a franchise in order to get a dual-release with a game? If that was the case then Konami would've held off on releasing their castlevania pachinko machines or those horrible 35th Anniversary NFT's Until a new game was relased, shihc they didn't, because arbitraily limiting your relase shcdule liek that is dumb and reflects badly on quarterly financial reports.
I'm pretty well informed about some of the background drama regarding koji Igarashi & Warren Ellis, but yet again you're just staight up lying by saying it was adapted in bad faith or that the fina lprojetc was intentinall sabotage. Symphony of the night's whole main theme was that Dracula genociding humanity in revenge for his wife was the opposite of what she would have wanted and made him a monster estranged from his only living fmaily (his son Alucard). This EXACT same scenario and message plays out across the first 2 season of the show. Saint Jermain was a time travelling scholar who wanders through time. We've heard about him in other games but primarily seen him in Judgment on the Wii. Netflix Saint Jermian is ALSO a time travelling scholar that end up wandering through time by the end of season 4. I could ramble on, but everywhere I look all I see is the TV show taking either the EXACT plot line form the gaems or sthe same overarching message and re-telling them in the show.
Also, you keep sating it was "bad faith" and "intentianally sabotaged" but that makes no logicla sense when you think about it for 2 seconds. Thier is an overwhelming amount of easter eggs and refrences to almost all games in the series across just the original 4 season series. That level of detail can't be achieved if the directors/story writers only played 1 or 2 games or speedran them without exloring the locales, digetsing the story, etc. If they truly wrote the show with bad-faith then the yjust wouldn't care and we would've gotten something like the Halo live action wihc upheld none of the main themes of the games and only had surface level similarities in designs and character names.
Koji Igarashi himself has directly stated at PAX 2017 "Yes, I have seen it, I thought it was great. We feel that the people that were working on the Netflix series understood what the game was all about and probably enjoys the original titles. We thought it was great because they knew the ins and outs of it. The art style was also very fitting for the series." The idea that the show as lazy work or an atempt to hi-jack the series and turn it into something its not is just straight up false. It's easy to bring up examples that counter this point and even the lore master of the franchise at that time endorses the final product because he fells it maintians the spirit, themes, and essence of the franchise.
TLDR for anyone who cared enough to read, I think it's fine to have your own tastes. You can think the creator of a piece of media is bad a their job, or dislike the choices they make, but saying that everything they make is bad or "bad faith" because you don't like the person or their methods is stupid. It's like me saying my doctor is bad at their job for curing me with modern medicine rather than the traditional chinese herbs I like, and even though my improving health is a clear sign that they did their job well, I plug my ears and tell them they failed simply because they didn't cure me the way I wanted to.
15:00 I think the big difference is that Red Dead and Smash are big triple A. You expect them to only get one major release every once in a while. One game every generation is the normal schedule for Smash, and Red Dead would take years to anounce a new game, because it takes years to make that new game in the first place (even without getting into the fact that Rockstar have to focus on GTA).
So while it will definitely be treated as a huge headline comeback anouncement when a new game in these series is anounced, it is not weird not seeing them anounced.
Making a Mega Man game is a much smaller scale project.
There's actually an official plok webcomic, most recent one was released in 2022 though, so it seems like it's stopped
It's not the same without the music though
It’s just not what us Plok fans are looking for
I'll have you know that Golden Sun will return in my dreams.
Alternate title: Scott REALLY wants to talk about mega man
I think we're forgetting the part where every employee at Konami was jumping ship because reports were coming out that Konami was abusing them. 😅
That had been going for decades at that point. Kojima jumping ship with most of his studio was the straw that broke the camel's back because he was basically the original game department at that point. But studios like Good-Feel and ArtPlay and other studios were already formed by 2015 and Team Silent had mostly moved on.
I like how he talks about something getting a new entry further and further apart and then I look at his main channel and shed a tear
Almost 20 years waiting for the next F-Zero, and now maybe 3 years since F-Zero 99 but not really with all the updates going on even this year technically.
i really hope they keep the 99 updates going long enough to give us all the BS tracks
Not getting a genuinely new F-Zero is an insult.
@jaybee27D It's a shame they don't use F-Zero 99 to give us an amazing remaster of F-Zero. They're sitting on something special, and it's just a subscription-only online game instead.
@DJCube1701 The problem is that GX didn't sell very well.
@orangeslash1667it sold well for a GameCube game.
Okay but put into perspective GTA AND ELDER SCROLLS both COMPLETELY missed an entire generation of consoles! They did spin off titles but not mainline games
Golden Sun is never comming back because Camelot is traped in the Mario Sport game Dungeon
As someone who was a part of the MegaMan Legends 3 Dev Room, I feel obligated to make a few corrections here. First off, there WAS interest in the game. There were actually thousands of active members on Capcom's Dev Room at the time, and they were doing contests with fan submissions and all the stuff they promised. And there was plenty of fan submissions and everything.
The main issue as to why it got cancelled was because Capcom wasn't being honest with us. Eventually we got word that the game was never even greenlit, and there were meetings with the heads of Capcom and the Dev Room team and eventually, after hearing about how the game was never greenlit in the first place, that really sowed the seeds of doubt and we could tell that Capcom never really wanted to make the game in the first place.
Combine that with the fact that around that time, Keiji Infane left the company and he was known for creating friction with the upper brass of Capcom and it became apparent that Capcom itself didn't want to make the game and Inafune was the the only one pushing for it. And that's pretty much why all those MegaMan games got cancelled, because he left and all the games got cancelled because he left. And most of us assumed it was because Capcom did it to spite him, as he was not very popular with the other executives in the company.
30:02 if you think Golden Sun is dead, how do you think Shining Force fans feel
Tell me about it. Just finished Shining Force 3 and I really wish they finished Galms story.
Bunch of 'spin off' games. Lead artist is a hentai artist.
Man... man. At that point just make a brand new franchise, and lean into the perversion like Nikke or something. Cynical half-hearted stuff appeals to no one.
.... Cue the 'Phantasy Star' gacha game that had nothing to do with Phantasy Star. Idola. The character designs there were amazing, they were like anti-memes. I'd look at something and it'd slide right off. It's really incredible, and only a salaryman who doesn't care about game or fantasy or anything like that could have created them.
It's the exact opposite of the kind of thing you should be trying to make. Geez.
Can I interest you in some Boktai? 😂
@mrbattons7181 I recommend unicorn overlord for a good strategy game from Sega.
It's insane how many Japanese game devs are just retired and their collective work is being scavenged by hundreds of indie devs.
"There's no way Golden Sun is coming back"
The ArtePiazza developed Golden Sun remakes in 2027:
honestly thought Scott was gonna say something along the lines of if Bubsy can come back, anything can lol
I appreciate how people around our age can finally gush about our MM9 nostalgia. That game hit at the perfect time
CtrlAble here. What really stood out to me is your point that a franchise hiatus doesn’t always mean the series is “dead,” it often just means the company has no idea what to do with it yet. The Mega Man example especially shows how fan panic can kick in way earlier than it probably should, while Castlevania feels like the opposite case, where the franchise itself wasn’t the problem so much as Konami just refusing to really make games for a long stretch. That contrast was super interesting.
Oh, Konami still made games at the time, but it was just arcade releases for their long-running rhythm games and random mobile games that aren't officially released outside of Japan
@luigifan4585 CtrlAble here. That’s a really good clarification, and honestly, it reinforces the point even more. Konami was still active, just not in the spaces or formats that most people associate with their legacy franchises. What’s interesting about that is it shows how a franchise can feel “absent” even when the company itself isn’t. If the output shifts toward arcade titles or region-locked mobile games, especially ones that don’t carry those flagship IPs forward in a meaningful way, then, from a broader audience perspective, it still feels like those series are on hold. And I think that’s where the Castlevania comparison really lands. It wasn’t a lack of development capacity; it was more of a shift in priorities. The games being made just weren’t aligned with what people were hoping to see from those franchises. That disconnect between “the company is active” and “the franchise is evolving” is kind of the core issue, and we’re still seeing it across the industry today.
@CtrlAble Konami barely needed to make games because they were successful with Pachinko machines, until it stopped working because of japanese regulations. So now Konami has to make games.
@orangeslash1667 CtrlAble here. That’s definitely a big piece of the puzzle, and I think it highlights something people sometimes overlook about how companies allocate their focus. When something like pachinko generates consistent revenue, it naturally attracts attention and resources in that direction, even if that means traditional game development slows down or shifts priorities. At the same time, I think it’s less about “Konami had to make games again” and more about how external pressure (like regulatory changes) can force a company to re-engage with spaces they had deprioritized. What’s interesting is that this kind of shift doesn’t automatically mean a return to form for those legacy franchises. It just means the conditions changed. From an accessibility and player experience perspective, that gap matters a lot. When a company steps away from its core franchises for years, it’s not just about missing entries; it’s about missed evolution. Accessibility features, design philosophies, and player expectations keep evolving, and long gaps can make it harder for a series to reconnect in a meaningful way when it returns. So yeah, the pachinko angle explains why the shift happened, but the bigger question is always how they choose to come back, and whether that return actually aligns with what players have been waiting for.
@CtrlAble The new Castlevania game is being made by the same team that made Dead Cells.
Meaning Konami had to hire a third party company to make Castlevania for them.
There's a lot more nuance to the Mega Man situation, but i understand this is a general overview. My two cents as a fan is that the majority of the Mega Man sub-series all have serialized storytelling, most of which have been unresolved and likely abandoned. If we wanted our gameplay fix, there are the classics and a million inspired indie games. But only ever getting Classic entries when it does get brought back is pretty discouraging.
When people talk about Megaman they rarely talk about "the plot" but in reality, Aside from Battle Network and Starforce which are rather silly and somewhat considered resolved, most Megaman sub series have really really good lore and world building too. X and especially Zero are just 9/10 - 10/10
Since they're releasing a megaman collection every 3 years, I'm excited for the megaman collection collection in 2029
Feels great being a Kirby fan and not worrying about my series goin on hiatus for more than a year or two
Atlus has put out more games beginning with "Persona 5" than they have with any Trauma Center :c
Trauma Team might just be cursed.
man, trauma team was sooo good
@batato9626 The late Jonathan Joss may have voiced Hank Freebird.
I can only remember one f-zero game coming in life, at this point, I associate captain falcon with Smash more then his own series
6:30 the fans of legends did interact with it, alot. The information you got that not many people interacted with it, so it got cancelled, is false.
I can't tell you whether the fans interacted a lot or not, but one of the staff at Capcom did say that there wasn't enough involvement by fans. There probably was some internal number that they wanted fans to reach and we didn't.
@Arkai68 that Capcom staff said it in a ridiculing and inflamatory tone, to get people angry and cause engagement.
I assume that may be where Scott got his info too.
Capcom released a statement after clarifying things, and that staff may have been fired.
@Rihcterwilker The other problem is ever since Monster Hunter became a hit, MM was no longer in Capcom's top 3 anymore. So they didn't have any faith in MML 3 when inafune left.
18 years later, still no new Banjo Kazooie games, not counting the smash dlc or NSO re-release of the N64 games.
Good news, yooka-laylee replaylee is based on Banjo.
@orangeslash1667I know about Yooka Replaylee, although I do wish they kept the classic Banjo Kazooie styled dialogue boxes and UI from the original version, at least as an option.
@S@Samsungsam07 how picky!!
RIP Golden Sun
It died the natural death of having increasingly worse games and a studio with way less staff. Camelot can't make RPG anymore and Nintendo does not care enough to outsource it to someone else.
@briansilva3765 On that note, I'm shocked fans expect a new GS game from Camelot. I doubt the people who made GS are even still there, or the people that are there know how to make RPGs.
@briansilva3765 this is actually how I learned there was another golden sun game besides the gba ones
@briansilva3765 That's not what happened. Camelot Software Planning (formerly Sonic! Software Planning) was acquired by Nintendo's branch for sports games. Before Nintendo they made the Shining series RPG games throughout all of the 90's, and according to interviews done, a lot of the talent got frustrated with getting assigned to work back to back releases of Mario sports games, especially when they had to make them in the specific way Nintendo wanted. Mario Tennis: Power Tour was the next sports game Camelot made after Golden Sun 2 and you could tell a lot of the RPG team was still given a lot of creative liberties to make an RPG story to tie in with Mario characters. Well, rumor is while most Nintendo execs were happy with Power Tour, a few were upset with the RPG aspects of the game (some have suggested Miyamoto).
It's not like Camelot couldn't or didn't want to make sports games, but the studio's staff and talent were really dedicated to RPG style games and sports games were a change of pace for them. They made the original Mario Golf and Mario Tennis games, after Shining Force 3 but before Golden Sun 1 got greenlit. After Mario Tennis: Power Tour, it was just a glut of very standardized sports games over and over and over. A lot of staff held out hope for a Golden Sun 3 sequel to get greenlit, but a lot of the talent had already left by the time Dark Dawn got released. That's why Dark Dawn felt so different and worse -- many of the original Camelot Studios RPG experts left to other studios where they _could_ work on RPG games.
Nintendo's insistence on assigning Camelot nonstop sports games is what drove away Camelot's RPG talent and pedigree. Today, a Golden Sun sequel honestly wouldn't really be done best by Camelot again, the talent they have on staff is pretty much honed in on sports games. It'd probably be best done by Monolith Soft (which does the Xenoblade games).
It died with the 3rd game, with the shift to bad looking 3D graphics and awful instrumentation of the music. It also starts off as treating you more like a kid than the first 2 games did.
It fills me with joy not seeing Pikmin on this list, considering its last two main series games came out 9 and 10 years apart from their predecessor. That community was practically self-immolating prior to Pikmin 4’s announcement.
The influx of sane people into the community with Pikmin 4 stabilized the core of the fandom. It’s only a matter of time until Hey! Pikmin 2 comes out and destroys it once again
24:13 I was thinking Yoshi's Story and Mischief Makers.
It's just interesting to me how, with movies and TV shows people always complain when a series gets an unnecessary reboot, but with video games it's the complete opposite. People DEMAND reboots or remakes for old games. That's probably because you can easily watch older movies and shows through DVD or streaming, but older video games aren't easily accessible to the average player (emulation bros, put your hands down for one dang second please). Most people can't easily access old games like they can other mediums because of the hardware required to run them, so I guess re-releases or reboots are the easiest way for most people to replay these games.
Sometimes it’s also just wanting ti be part of a group. Like New Pokemon Snap didn’t sell nearly as well as you’d think given how many people online wanted one. I feel most people don’t actually want a hl3 and just do it for memes but that’s imo.
X3 had the best boot upgrades and armor look for X, IMO.
It's been almost 6 years since the last Yo-kai Watch game
Tbf I have no idea what mess is going on at level 5 rn lmao
@abramallen4940 They have a bunch of Japanese exclusive games they just refuse to bring over for some reason.
@abramallen4940 3 underperformed and 4 REALLY underperformed
Considering Level 5 is using AI now, I don't want another one.
That Golden Sun jab at the end was like a dagger through my heart.
Scott's Stash is basically the new home of those "I wanna talk about anything random that comes into my mind that day" episodes, and it makes me super happy as a fan of those kinds of scott the woz episodes.
Golden Sun 4 exists in my headcanon
Rip my dear sweet golden sun 😢
I don’t mind long hiatus for certain video game franchises, but I hate the development hell for games that don’t need to be that big! I just want these games not to be bloated and messed up, games like Duke Nukem Forever was already a generation behind and the original game developers have left the company or the game engine gets changed. Also Kingdom Hearts 3 was delayed and felt underwhelming, but I’m glad that the game was released on PS4 and Xbone.
Bro, ppl complaining about hiatus are not kids. Games takes so long to release that kids will never experience waiting for a sequel bc by the time they release, they arent kids anymore. Megaman had 1 game per DECADE, no one is growing with megaman anymore
Konami pachinko mention: HIT THE LEVER!
Can't wait until the Spore hiatus is over :)
It's definitely just a hiatus :)
One extra thing to add during the whole bad megaman news of the early 2010s was the whole bad box art megaman character in Street fighter x Tekken. People were so angry this fat comedic character was added instead of actual megaman. It felt like they were crapping on megaman and the people who were fiending for something at the time.
I just miss F-Zero man :(
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
30:06 you say golden sun I heard shining force
"Megaman lost the plot" Turist.
Scott this video was made for me! thank you!🥰
Hopefully, with the upcoming Mega Man 12, we'll get Mega Man X9 soon!
That’s what we said with Mega Man 11
@aionicthunder I recommend 30 XX for a successor to MMX.
@orangeslash1667 Is that going to resolve the cliffhanger at the end of X8? Is that going to show the Elf Wars?
@aionicthunder No!!
See Keiji Inafune wanted the X series to end at x5, but Capcom wanted more. Not because of the story, the reason was( They got to have money).
So why bother ending X8's story when X5 was already a good ending???
@orangeslash1667 Because Megaman Zero isn’t a follow-up to X5. It’s a follow-up to a game that doesn’t exist yet
A few examples come to mind when I think of this.
Banjo-Kazooie
Kid Icarus
Golden Sun
Castlevania
Mega Man
Danganronpa
Ace Attorney
Rhythm Heaven
And of course plenty others, but the main ones responsible are Nintendo and Capcom
Different name idea: Scott talks about a game where a guy has a gun for an arm, a game where a guy has a gun for an arm while you run around a maze finding upgrades, and a game where you run around a maze finding upgrades
I think it's funny how some franchises after a long hiatus will come back with a fresh new idea for the series whereas other franchises disappear for so long that a sequel that sticks with the original formula is appreciated
i think i mentioned this before, but i love how Scott keeps the sponsor stuff to his bonus channel so he doesn't interrupt the flow of his normal videos with that kinda stuff
Star Fox is so dead he didn’t even mention it
Mega Man has so many comebacks it hurts.
It's been 6 years since the last Kingdom Hearts game and it already feels *ETERNAL*
its crazy Scott not looking like a kid anymore
Scott really took a hiatus in his video about hiatuses.
comparing Red Dead Redemption and Super Smash Bros dev times to 2D same formula every game Megaman is insane
PLOK MENTIONED
plop
That boss music goes hard even years later.
Line in the Sand, baybeee
Just recently bought Plok for the music alone
My goat PLOK finally got some recognition
I had 3 copies of Megaman Legends 3 preordered
They cancelled it on my birthday
Games move slower than they used to
A decade ago, 5 years without a new game was a death sentence, nowadays 5 years is 2 less years than the expected
We are finally getting another Turok game :)
So..... Megaman X wasn't Megaman 10 this whole time?
Plok 2 can get announced any day now
I find it interesting you mention Red Dead Redemption, when the developer Rockstar Games also puts out Grand Theft Auto, which hasn't seen a mainline release in 13 years (but will later this year).
Published by Take Two, more like Take Two Decades.
The Castlevania hiatus is also quite perplexing because the Netflix shows aren't even entirely new content.
The first series is an adaptation of Castlevania III and the second series is an adaptation of Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night. Konami was diving into remake territory long before Metal Gear Solid Delta
I won’t lie, calling out the golden sun franchise like that hurt Scott
Golden Sun, my beloved... 😭
RIP Star Fox
Thanks Scoot
Part 2 needed
I WAS JUST THINKING THIS
I can tell this video was made before the announcement of Bounce 2
Scott, the reason why it felt so long is because - imagine getting only 1 game EVERY 10 years, and in between its just collections and re-releases
If you thought Half Life 3 is long, now imagine this just to get a new megaman game
Comparing this to some other franchises is so funny.
Like, Atelier has been getting nearly yearly releases since its inception.
In 2025, 5 games came out, 2 new ones, and a collection of a few older ones with all DLC packed in.
0:25 damn he hate factor 😂😂😂
3:50 now say this about Mario
You don't know the pain of Half-Life fans.
Even here bloodbourne gets snuffed
I know some folks here will mention F-Zero while forgetting that in 2023 Nintendo shadow dropped a 99 player online game for it, similar to Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99. The wait from Climax to 99 was a whopping 19 years, but to be fair there was that one mini game in Nintendo Land that referenced F-Zero. F-Zero 99 is still alive and well, only hardcore fans still stream it, it’s still receiving updates and there’s even some fun gimmicks to spice up races. If you don’t count it as a new game you’re not a true fan 🤷♀️
Yeahh my problem with the Megaman series is that we're only getting the classic style now. It feels like they don't want to put in as much money or risk doing anything they can't guarantee won't at least break even in terms of sales.
That ending joke gave me depression.
The way Scott emphasizes the script for the factor ad makes it sound facetious 😂
"While I was gone, they set the world on fire. Wasn't a war anymore; it was a remaking. Some losses are inevitable. Some...unthinkable. Now they've built a new world. Armies of steel and thunder. They're rewriting history. But they forgot about me."
