I was stationed about 30KM Southwest of Bremerhaven some 30 years ago and spent most of my free time here. Thanks for posting this. It brought back so many happy memories.
I was born in Bremerhaven and I live here. I love this town. Thanks a lot for this video and your description and impressions. You can find so much reportings about the bad situation here. But it´s just a little part. There are so many good things, nice places, great feelings, beautiful spots right here, that TV stations ignore. Or citizens. My daughter moved with her family to Florida a few weeks ago and I send her this link, so that she can enjoy your video of her hometown. Whenever you´ll be here, please go on and do more videos and share them with the world. Thank you so much.
well thank you so much and I love Bremerhaven and I just posted again Christmas decorations from there on the page so check it out...I posted 2 days ago and I will continue to make more vids...I will be back in a couple months after I am off holiday so maybe meet you all there some time i hope.... ty for your comment...I would love to meet some of you all from there some time....
As I mentioned to Matt and Jeff above, I'll do a nostalgia trip for one night in Bremerhaven this May. My father, a Navy commander, was stationed there from 1955 to 1958. I'd like to see my old haunts and thought having a guide to take us around might be a good idea. Any recommendations? Thanks
I saw the reference in your other video on a day visit to Breverhaven so I searched and found this one. Very impressed with your presentation. I have been to Hamburg, which is only about 60 miles away, twice, but after this I want to visit this very nice little city. Thanks.
Thank you so much for the video and comments. I was born & raised in Bremerhaven, and I left for Weedsport NY in 1967. I have visited Bremerhaven three times, but I haven't been back in about twenty years. Other than the Buerger and Columbus Center, I do not recognize anything anymore. So the video is so wonderful to watch, and I shall watch it again and again. Thank you, Matt and Jeff. You are THE BEST!
Thank you for making this video . I was born and raised in Bremerhaven. In 1989 I left to go to the U.S and I have not been back yet. So, Thank you for giving me a piece of my home. I miss it very much.
I'll post more again and I just posted some footage with all the Christmas decorations behind the Columbus ball if you want to check out that video it's on the channel
Thank you Matthew for this video..i will be working there in few months now and kinda excited too..this video has help me picture bremerhaven looks like..
Great video. Love street videos like that.. Thanks. I always wondered what it's really like there... I grew up in Chicago, but my Mom and my Aunts were born in Bremerhafen, Germany
Usedom I just made one in Antwerp Belgium just like this and I like the video I gave it to Matthew and he should be posting it pretty soon so definitely check that out I think you will enjoy it
I lived here for a couple of years in the early 80's. Very interesting to see all the new buildings especially around the harbour. I'm still using the plates and cups I bought in the Bremerhaven Woolworths every day nearly 40 years later! I enjoyed the walk!
I was stationed at the Army post (CSK) in the late 80's. I think we called the mall the Columbus Center. Maybe the name has changed. I've been there a number of times but I don't have any strong memories of it. I think there was a museum U-Boat you could board close by.
25:40 "The water's a little low right now. I don't know why..." Because of the tide. It's turning to ebb tide. We have a difference of 3.5m between low and high tide in Bremerhaven.
I notice every time there the current seems heavy and heading toward the sea.....interesting....Well mate I just arrived home for holiday today so I can relax and I will go back to work October......Glad to hear from you and have a great day

I liked the dinner I had there. Am Schaufenster Fischereihafen An der Packhalle IV Nr 4 Is this same place you telling me about? If yes I will make video there and eat again...I loved it....
Wow, long ago and faint memories from the past. I had English, Australian and Rhodisian musician mates living in Bremerhaven back in the 1970s and used to go visit them when I could. Splendid place, mostly good people, some with unfortunate memories with leanings towards Fawlty Towers and The Muppet Show on VHS ... very into physical comedy as I recall, and very big on 'rules' like no mowing the lawn during meal times. Oh happy days, even so. Sunday afternoons down to the cream cake cafe, hence the large amount of girth amongst families. Memories of clambering down the Type-XXIII U-Boat parked up at the Ship Museum where I almost bashed my brains out on a watertight door handle. Eeeek! Last time I was there, 1994 when mates were moving on. Haven't been back since. I recognized one church and that's about it - places change and a good reason not to go back.
I was stationed (US Army) about 30 minutes away in Garlstadt 1990-1992 and Bremerhaven was my happy place to go to on the weekends to get away. Bahamas Disco was the place to be on a Friday or Saturday night! I lived there in 1993 in Bremerhaven. I went back in 2003 and again in 2012. I was supposed to go back in 2020 but covid hit. I'd love to go back for a visit but I'm thinking that they're going to force people to be vaccinated in order to travel anywhere and I don't want to take the shot since I had covid already and have natural immunity. Bremerhaven is my favorite place to be outside of the US.
I live in BRHV 46 Years and this city was so good. Makes me sad to see that the city turn around to a poor city. 30 Years ago was so good here. I hope this city stand up in a positive way again. You see already in your Video, not much people. I remember 30 Or 20 Years ago, the city was full of people. But I love Bremerhaven. In the summer it is better and more people because of tourism.
Joel Pinto I went there a couple weeks ago and they did not have one which I was surprised but I will get one in USA I should be back in bremerhaven in about another two and a half weeks
Back in the olden ages when I was an electrical engineer, a broadcast engineer, the first ones were called steady cams for ENG newsgathering assignments. One thing I did notice is that the streets of Bremerhaven seemed to be very clean.
Nice to see you filming and vloging a kind of Bremerhaven. Next time you need a guy who picks u up and show you more like your steps through the "Bürger". You are welcome
I was born in Bremerhaven and was looking to if I could find my sisters, I was adopted by American family, my father was in the US army. All I have is my mothers name and my birth name, so that may not be enough to find anyone. I was born in 1948.

The water was a little low because of ebb tide! Bremerhaven is not directly at the ocean (North Sea) but at the mouth of the Weser River.
Thank you very much for this Video and kind regards from Bremerhaven! :)
