@@evilcritter In Norway we can buy them in conveniance stores and every store that has a outdoor/sports theme. Maybe send them a email and ask if they send to Canada if you buy a big box of them.
If you're drinking coffee here, you're drinking black BITTER coffee. This was my highlight in the Norwegian army. The coffee in the middle of the woods. It has been 17 years, and I still love it! It's avaliable to buy in the store. It's so good!
Artic packs are given to soldiers in the winter because they contain more calories than the summer variant. You would mostly eat slices of bread and a few Field Rations a day during summer and at least 3 Arctic rations during winter + - slices of bread. Most of the Rations you are given are good but you will find 1 or 2 you would trade for the ones you like the most :)
Brilliant and hilarious review you two. My wife thought I'd gone mental as I was crying when you started talking about the Not (Nut) Cream as I was listening with headphones on. Keep it up.
Usually in my company we just eat the “Nutella” and throw the bread away. You loose some calories but it is what it is. Next time you should try and mix cacao powder with the breakfast MRI. It makes it so much better and you get more calories in a singe meal. The breakfast comes withe the energy drink or cacao powder from toro
About the expiration date from the dry-tech website: "Field rations have a best-before date of approximately 2 years from the production date. The shelf life is determined by the product in the ration with the shortest shelf life, such as an energy bar. The remaining contents will have an equal or longer shelf life. The main meal in the ration has a shelf life of 7 years from the production date."
@@miniripperI don't think we have stronger coffee than other European countries, but we do drink a lot of it. I used to drink 7-9 cups a day, but have cut down to about 3-4. I believe only Finland surpasses us in that regard.
@@miniripperI suggest going for the original G35 Gudbrandsdalost for brown cheese. We have many different flavors, but that one is made of goat milk. It works well on a cracker, like Kornmo Original. Should be available in most grocery stores.
I believe you might have experienced the müsli less bitter if used with hot water. IIRC the arctic ration is just a kit with the REAL full or light meal and the accessories to bulk up the calories. (Drytech is the manufacturer and REAL is the brand name).
Some people eat them when they are out hiking in the Arctic parts i guess, but there is nothing arctic about colombian coffe. If you want Arctic flavours, you need sami food.

Rhe brand name is REAL, in norwegian pronounced much closer to the real in real Madrid (reh-ahl) than the english. It means real/true, but also dependable, sturdy, as an adjective. It's hard to translate. It's a good name.
Ramdom recommendation from YT, didn't disappoint. I've eaten thousands of these amd have fifty in the basement. Unofficial best before is at least 20 years if kept sealed and not too warm (this from a Drytech employee). The oldest I've eaten was 18 yrs old and totally fine. If anyone could send them pulled pork, that one is legit. Have had them all and thats my favorite at least. Also, Real in this context would be translated to English "proper" or similar.

We have fun in this hobby, or burn out quickly. It is quite all right to ad lib, as you go. Adapt, improvise, LOL. Have fun friends!! Very cool meal. Glad all enjoyed. Peace from Ky. John.
I bought 11 packs of dinners from Drytech earlier this summer, the Arctic field rations are all very high in calories because you eat them when you are on manouver so you spend alot of calories and these are meant to replenish them, that means if you try eat these and not being very active you definitly will gain weight. However they have on their store... dinners without all the other stuff but the dinner itself have about 500-600 calories and that is pretty normal for a dinner. Bought several of these in various type like flavours and these are also great for emergency type of food ... especially now when government urge us to have atleast 7 days of food in case of emergencies. Also ... best before date means just that... its best before but its still eatable ...
what you do with the wet wipes/Disinfectant wipes is you save up 2 of them, then you use them to field "shower". 1 for the armpits and 1 for the crotch. Also Drytech is the company that makes them, sadly the Norwegian Government has decided to put out a bid for future field meals so Drytech is no longer the default provider for the Norwegian armed forces for field meals. Dont know if a single company will win (like Orifo that does most of europe already) or if there will be a mix of brands (kinda like the older versions of Drytech before they added production lines to cover for other brands).

Fun fact about the gum in the packet. It contains laxative to help you poop when you are out in the field so you don’t use energy to contain it😂

Joshua needs more training, he keeps looking at the wrong camera when he talks to the audience! Such a rookie, needs to learn from the man in charge!
The trashbag isn't really about not leaving trash outside, it's more about not leaving trash behind that could help the enemy find you.
Actually that's the benefit of bringing the trash with you in a battle situation. Which the Norwegian soldiers rarely are
Best way is to open the packs before a mission and sort it so you don't have to use the green packet at all. Waste of space when you are in the field.
i love these videos so much, the dynamic between you two is just awesome. keep up the great work!!
You should try to get the Italian mre with alcohol (Cordiale) in it. But theyre super rare and are the so called Holy Grail of MREs
