I had the privilege of meeting the combine man Ron Knight a few times. A few times at working events but a couple of times he made some hard to find bits and pieces for my old combine. Its hard to find words to describe his amazing collection of vintage machinery its just amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the most extensive and varied collection of combines in the world. I visited him when he was rebuilding the only self propelled Marshall combine still in existence, 1 of only 2 built. He literally had a heap of rusty metal and two photos of the machine when it was new. Using the photos he eventually managed to bring it back to new. Amazing stuff! I wish i had spent a bit more time with him to pick up some of his methods. The Massey 780 in this program is part of his collection now. He bought it of the farmer after the program was aired.
This has been a phenominal series, the team are great and very clever and also the experts they seem to find for the finer points, makes a super piece of entertainment for us mechanical buffs. Thanks so much for sharing these!
I can totally relate to this video, I had hours sitting behind my dad on the toolbox of a Massey Harris 780 special. I remember to this day the smells, the sounds, and the whole experience of it during my school summer holidays. Excellent video.
Love the history behind the machines... WHY isn't this series still going? I mean.. Time team is very good-informative, but the Salvage Squad teaches history, and makes it work. I want 20+ more seasons of Salvage Squad please.. Better than time team.
Nice to see it restored and working again 👍 from alison sadler England 🇬🇧

My favourite one of them all but does anyone know the name of the song played at the beginning and the end?
I’m a bit more technical than Ron. I use a screwdriver with my hammer.
