*Actually there's 10 pieces if you include the 2 small rear pillar ones.

Another outstanding video. I will consider it for my Model Y.
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for doing this review. These are very interesting to me…but I am also looking at Tesmat’s privacy screen. The privacy screen by Tesmat covers all of the windows with flat black fabric…and it stuffs into one very small sack. I would still buy some ceiling sunshades and probably a windshield sunscreen.
Not a problem. Hope it helped with a decision.
We have this set and use when camping especially. But they are cumbersome to carry with us when traveling, since we use the roof pieces too.
Completely agree. I usually put them up in the cargo box so they’re out of the way. I hope they come out with some sort of sleeve for them.
I agree with your upgrade points. For nearly $300 bucks, they should get it right. For another $100, Dreamcase seems to have gotten it right!! As for Tesla, for the price of their EV, (I own a Model S), they should include the roof shade. The heat coming through that glass roof in the summer is ridiculous.
Dreamcase is nice, but the price combined with magnets on the outside make it a no go for many. Nothing screams somebody is inside like hockey puck sized magnets or straps all over my windows. I do occasional stealth camping so wouldn't work for me, but if someone is just using them for normal camping and can handle the price tag, they do look very nice. I'm going to be testing a new set from a different company soon that look very promising and about half the price of either of these options so stay tuned. Appreciate you watching and for the comment 😀
I completely agree with your statement. Please let me know of your discovery in an alternative .@@bryanhauer
I love tesla model y
Me too. Thanks.
So glad I found your channel. Sorry for all the questions too on previous videos. But do the 2 front door windows stay in place when you open or close the door?
On the Model Y they slightly move down while the door is open and then close again when the door is closed. Here's what Tesla says on their website... "To avoid damage, windows automatically lower slightly when you open or close a door. If you manually raise a window when the door is open, ensure it is slightly lowered before closing the door."
@@bryanhauer yea I’m aware the front windows of the Y drop a bit. But if I installed the driver window shade then open the door. Does the window shade fall off?
@@vin374 If you're looking at these shades from Evannex, then yes, anytime you open the door the shade will fall. Takes 2 seconds to get it back in, but yes it will fall.
What are you using for your roof storage? Would love to get one of those, if you camp inside the car, it sucks to have all your stuff ALSO in the car. Especially as a couple lol 😂
I now use the rear hitch cargo box, the Yakima EXO system, and it works much better than the roof due to it being about 5% range loss vs 25% or more with the roof, plus it's quiet, easier to get into and you can cook on top of it. I'll link to it below along with my review video. I'll also link to the Yakima rooftop box I previously used.

Did you end up finding a way to pack these into some carrying case when you don’t have the cargo storage on the roof?
No I just put them all inside the windshield one and keep them in the rear cargo area until I need them. It’s Anna’s the slide around, but has worked ok and have yet to lose one. I keep the tiny ones behind the drivers seat in the storage area. I wish they had a case/sleeve though.
hey man, i wanted to ask for an update relating to your window covers. are they still viable for camping? have you found a better alternative? thanks for the info!
Hi Andrei - Yep. I still use them today (Gold/Black version) as you can see in my latest camping video and have yet to find anything better. All the pieces fit and work great without the need to even use the suction cups provided except the two for the panoramic sunroof. Those I find a challenge to stick properly and do need the suction cups.
For the others I put a black piece of gorilla tape over the suction cup holes on the black side and that works great. If you're interested in picking them up you can use my link. Hope that helps! 😀 geni.us/u5CKE
I've read in a few places that these help insulate the vehicle and reduce your heat loss through your windows when winter camping. Has that been your experience? Does that affect whether or not you use the sunroof cover? Wife and I are planning to go to Yellowstone in the winter, and are looking at potential upgrades to our camping setup.
It definitely insulates it a bit for sure and keeps the warm air inside which likely translates to a tiny bit of energy savings. For me though, it's more about privacy. I've never used the rooftop one as the suction cups aren't very good for it, but imagine that would help a bit as well and makes it easier to sleep a bit later after sunrise 😉
Thanks for this video. I’m considering getting them. Do you have an updated discount code?
Thanks Glen! I don’t currently have a discount code and don’t see one on their site, but I’d wait till later in the week as I’m sure they’ll have some type of Black Friday deal.
Hi,
I'm looking for similar things for my model s 2022 refresh. Any ideas any advice? Like mattress (extension) window covers etc what you found helpful in stealth camping.
Hi - Congrats on the new Model S. That's a beautiful car! Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with it as I've never had one, but many of the same items I mention on my channel for the Model Y offer products for the Model S as well like these window shades. As for the mattress, I don't believe the EXPED MegaMat Auto fits the Model S although I believe one of their other options would work, but I could be wrong so I'd suggest reaching out to them directly. I wish I could help more, but have never camped with the Model S. Many of the other tips should translate to the S though.
Just got mine. Really good quality. I took those ugly, yellow stickers off 😂
Haha! Yep me too, immediately. Also, in later videos you'll see I put small pieces of black Gorilla tape over the holes on the black side so there's no way to see through or see light. It's been on for 6 months now and looks like I just put it on. You don't need the suction cups except for the panoramic roof. Glad you like them 😀
Put like black duck tape to cover up those holes
Yep was thinking that or Black Gorilla tape. Hopefully they can release a new version without them, but still think they're great.
@@bryanhauer I will get them when I get my Model Y
@@weekendfisherman8072 Nice 👍🏻 They're the best ones I've seen so far.
Cut a circular piece of a duct tape and stuck it over the holes.
Yep. You'll see in later videos I put black Gorilla tape over the holes and worked perfectly. Overall I've been loving the window shades.
Bryan, just put black tape over hole!
I did later on in videos. Used black gorilla tape and has been working great.
