Get a free trdlnik with every vignette
maan, when I hear the word trdelnik I always imagine the bulgarian word "prdelnik", which means the body part that "farts" or "prdi" :)
@@jiroscop Get a free prdelnik then
The simplest move from "the EU" would be to just make it illegal to "resell" the toll stickers - or buy them for your customers. The only legal sales points are the official machines and websites. And then you crack down on the scammers.
I think the Czech government could do that far quicker themselves, if they wanted to. Probably someone's being paid to look the other way. Maybe we could do with someone doing for European roads that "The Man in Seat 61" website does for railway travel.
I've made a lot of car travel in recent years and always, and I repeat - ALWAYS bought needed vignettes from official websites working in these countries. It amazes me that in 2024 people still want (?) to buy vignettes on borders or gas stations. Greetings from Poland, you're doing a fantastic job :)
If you fly in and get a rental car you don't know the license plate number upfront. You don't have a choice.
@@onnonius in this case you can buy needed vignette on your phone in like 5 minutes, when you are already in your car.
Honestly, the little austrian sticker on my windshield reminds me of the Amazing trip I had and im quite glad it is there. But I purchased the swiss one online, and Im glad as the queue was so long
A physical vignette is a nice souvenir for some. But sadly the scams are so common that I wouldn’t buy one again either for Czechia etc. Online is safer when it comes to this.
It amazes me that they still use a vignette system, that was 90s technology
Stinks of corruption. Take care, Janek! We need you!
Sorry, unrelated question, but would you consider making a video about Christmastime in Prague? (specifically if it's worth it to visit Christmas Markets in Prague) I could not find such a video from you yet, and I am planning to visit Prague again this December (as I believe many other people do) as the Prague Christmas Market seems to be quite hyped over. But I remain ever sceptical, so I'd love your opinion on it😊
Why wait for the EU, you should make that website. In Janek we trust!
as an American this system is so confusing
Because it’s downright backwards
Life would have a lot less scams if sponsored results were not allowed to be in the top 3 search results.
Yes, the Hungarian vignette has been abused for years by these fraudulent sites. The Hungarian state ignores it, as does the Czech state.
In Austria it's less of a problem because of a stupid rule that you can only buy a digital vignette 14 days before the first validity date. 🤦♀
Update: A miracle happened. I checked the Asfinag website and you can now buy a vignette with immediate validity. 😮🥳
Highways aren't the only roads with toll. Here in the Netherlands, a few regional roads have toll, too. For example, the N62 has toll booths right before you enter the Westerscheldetunnel.
sweden is the third largest country in the EU has no toll roads, only three toll bridges.
For all good people, official sale of vignettes for Slovenia is via the DARS website, other websites are scams.
Also, at every border crossing you can buy it, and the prices are official, so there is no fraud like in the Czech at the border crossing.
sweden does not have vignettes or stickers. there are only three toll bridges in the entire country and one is charged via automatic plate recognition of the vehicle and sent a bill if using those bridges. There is also congestion taxes in stockholm but that only applies at certain times.
In belgium, we don't have any tolls in the highway.
Belgium is an actual european country. This one is still basically an eastern european one
Thanks.
Same internet scan also for Switzerland since e-vignette is available (mid 2023).
If EU authorities do not want to interfere by at least publishing a list with official sales websites, the national drivers associations should do so.
Just that some of those drivers associations also sell overpriced services such as for physical vignettes for their members.
New video from the legend!!!
To be honest, the vignette system is something I wish we had in france. I travelled a lot in june for public exams, and 1800km on highway cost me 220€.
The real scam is the A28 ALiS, 50 minutes, 120 km = 32€ for a single car
Privatisation is a scam
Privatisation in France was a double scam.
Sarkozy sold the motorways (in fact the right to levy road toll in compensation for highway maintenance) at half of the estimated value, with extremely expensive compensation in case of early contract termination.
And the toll companies have limitations on increasing tariffs - but are allowed selective increases - so higher increases are applied to motorway sections with most traffic.
Simple fact it's ....the guys who own these business also own people in government otherwise it would have been sorted ages ago. Fact is they pay tax and employ people and regular czech people know about this scam and Europe in general has made it a hobby to rip off tourists , tried to charge me 30 euro in norway for a bus to a skylift which is in fact government provided and free of charge but they will still sell you a ticket that no one checks.
The easiest solution is to abolish vignettes. Germany and Netherlands enjoy a wide network of free highways.
Germany wanted to change this, but toll collecting countries protested and found a EU law to block it ;)
Now it makes sense why when I was looking for Hungarian vignette I found 2 web pages and different prices while both claimed to be the official one...
Thanks guys!
Actually the vignette website that this guy made was brilliant. He does not sell a vignette to people but only a service to buy a vignette for them and give them the vignette, so he is only a middle man. It's like someone goes to a travel office and ask them to buy a Ryanair flight ticket for them, although they could buy it themselves on the Ryanair website, but maybe they don't know how. Of course it should be mentioned on the vignette website that they are middlemen and they sell a service, otherwise it really is taking advantage of unaware people.
At least a travel-agent will get advantageous rates from airlines because they buy in bulk and in advance. That's impossible with a fixed-price product.
it surely is in a 6 points high smallprint on the last page where nobody ever reads it.
@@tyrgoossensdepends, usually prices with a travel agency are the same but instead of some large corporation like Booking or Google getting part of the ticket price, the travel agency as a local business gets this part (I think around 5-7%).
Capitalism at its finest. Buy low and sell high.
No! Corruption at its finest!
What’s the alternative mr genius
And that is why in Croatia we don't heave vignette systems, we have paid systems for type of traffic on main highways as we call he it here "toll booths" which are going to be replaced with same system but on modernized type using ENC (Electronic payment for toll booth) which you top-up and use anywhere on highways, it is worth as you can have enough for few years of travel or just enough for few quick travels.
There were talks about vignettes to be implemented on our highways just like other countries, like neighbors Slovenia, but meh, Croats seems to have good idea and well, I can say - it is worth a shot. Replacement ENC (after old dies and it is possible to transfer funds from old to new one) is about 20 Euros (had to replace this summer after old died within 8 years of various usage and top-ups from Croatian kuna to Euros) plus we kept all funds on it (about 50 Euros that we topped-up before summer travels). How did we found that it doesn't work - short travel in early summer time, dad wanted to get outside to one city and on ENC machine didn't received signal correctly so he paid in cash that day, day after that (thankfully it was Monday when we got location of HAC to get new ENC) replacement was completed.
P.S.: If don't wanna pay with cash or after ENC only will be implemented it could be used also with card payments as well, know it as once had used it because nobody had spare 10 HRK in wallets so I said, f*ck, this, put my card into new system and it paid correctly travel from Split to Zagreb in minivan.
Go to Norway, you will not pay tolls as they can not claim it from you ;)
No tolls but it costs $25 per/hour to exist in Norway
I have no idea what the toll roads are like in my home country, Romania. The only thing I know is that as a vehicle owner, you pay lots of fees to go around Romania if you are Romanian (the Romanian government says that these fees go to the country's budget and there have been zero investments in improving the overall Romanian road infrastructure in the last 30 years or so).
Aren't the tolls from the Czech border owned by the Czech government, are they? They should be involved more in stopping those scammers...
You do understand that there's probably something going on there with this interraction, don't you?
I have no idea what you are talking about. What are these fees? I ask as somebody who has travelled through Romania many many times. I only know you have regular road vignettes like in the video.
@@MartyTheGamer I'm talking about the regular fees which are extremely expensive and the government has been collecting those for many years. And there were few investments in the infrastructure.
@@dariusionescu726 I am also from Romania and very curious about what you are talking. There is the vignette witch is around 28 euros for the whole year and some tolls for using some bridges. But those you can count on the fingers of one hand. And by the way the scam about the value of the vignette is targeted at tourist as they might not know the real value. If you are native and buy a vignette with a surcharge the that is on you and in that case it is called a idiot tax.
I do believe that there are issues in the application of the vignette around the EU but it is not in regard with the value but the way it is levied. For example in Romania you can buy it any time after you entered the country before the day ends. That is not trues for other countries that require you to have it practically before you enter the country, like Bulgaria for example and i suspect Czechia thus putting pressure on you to buy it at the crossing from sketchy sellers.
We also crossed the border in Drasenhofen this summer and only found the official Czech point of sale thanks to your video and Google Maps. Unfortunately, it was too late for the electronic vignette because it only becomes valid a few days after purchase.
Great job, thx for the info. Greetings from Hungary!
I found that driving an EV into chzechia was also cumbersome even with the official site, had I driven hydrogen or a hybrid, I would've gotten a discount without much fuzz, but because I drove an EV I had to jump through *a lot* of hoops. On the bright side, it was free, but I imagine *a lot* of people can't be bothered because it's way too much work, and an entirely manual process that has to be done months in advance.
Their are those people that scam everybody and those that never scam. It is a moral question. The law will always be just paper.
Was anyone else looking for a list of official websites to purchase vignettes in the description of this video? Anyway, thanks for the video, but I didn’t understand why you didn’t include a list.
All countries within the EU should make it illegal to resell such tickets. A hefty fine per ticket may quickly end these scams.
Fortunately, Germans couldn't make up their minds whether to incur the toll charges on our Autobahnen...
It's not directly because "Germans couldn't make up their mind".
Chancellor Merkel had promised "no toll for cars", Bavarian CSU party transport minister Scheurer promised "a toll only for foreigners" by reducing national car taxes together with the motorway toll for cars - combination refused by EU court.
Scheurer had signed contracts shorty before court decision with companies to put in place the toll system - breaking the contracts costs German taxpayer 243 million Euro.
As an American if I were told I have to pay a toll I'd simply use my American Credit Card. Then when I'm done in Europe I'd call my Credit Card issuer and dispute every single toll explaining I didn't knowingly or willingly enter and I was being held against my will told if I didn't pay I wouldn't be allowed to leave freely.
This scam would also get me to call my senators, and the our ambassador's in the respective country. I expect better from Europe. Toll roads are bad enough but deceptive practices will not get you my American money. although I'm certain plenty of my fellow countrymen allow themselves to fall for this and just take the hit.
Your eleborate plan would fall apart from the get go as you cannot pay these tolls with AE cards. But keep on making up all kinds of schemes. Or stay away.
Google can do that with a snap of a finger by showing official tolls website in maps . but they wont 😅
Ain't no way the honest guide are using AI art. We really ARE in the darkest timeline
I need to know where to get that sunset picture in your studio.
Google be like : we dont even call google ads customers if they face issues , we only email , we encourage these kind of scams alot we dont care about our users 😂 whoever pays us tops the list 😅
It's all infuriating, isn't it?
Thx bro !
A markup of max. 10% is kind of acceptable - above is criminal.
No, it's completetely unacceptable. This is kind of a tax which should never be outsourced.
Thanks man 👍🏻🖖🏻
Great video
I wish there was a vid about esims
So it's almost like playing the game. Finding Waldo??😂😂 in this case find the matjine and pay less.. like playing loto you win discount.😂
Praise for Germany ones again, they don´t charge for cars.

Zabawa w chowanego in Polish.
You should speak to Fidias
Nice
👍👍
Love how toll-roads arent allowed for Denmark. To hell with the EU
0:44 Really a content creator is using AI generated image? So I guess I can take your video to train AI model on...
if you asked me then I would say ''sure'', but I do not even have a real channel though :D
AI is an interesting form of Communism, delivered to you by corporate Capitalism.😂
big L for using an AI image. really Janek? you have a natural gift to making engaging videos. making this one generated image into a 5 second sketch would increase this segment's quality by a ton. but what I see now is just laziness.
rest of the video is great quality. you can do it, you're better than this
