Thanks Mynda, for now I’ll stick with doing it myself and not relying on the AI
Wise 😁
Great video: yes, learning comes from doing more than copying and pasting. When you learn to write a new formula, you then have a new tool that can be applied to new problems or combined with other formulas to create something much more powerful.
Well said. Must remind my boys of that. It's all too easy to get ChatGPT to do the work, just as it is to have social media entertain you or distract you from the mundane.
Thank you, Mynda! I've always been skeptical of such technology when it's being heralded as "outstanding" and "world-changing". If people just blindly accept its output as truth, they'll forever be ignorant of the real truth. I really like you stressing that any answer needs to be verified. Such technology has its place but it's not a replacement for LEARNING, something you, again, stressed here. As always, great presentation. Thanks again!
Indeed, Steve 🙏
Good explanation. Thank you Mynda!
Glad it was helpful, Ivan!
Hi Mynda - great video as usual.
I have used ChatGPT with Excel and Google sheets formulas and it did save some time as it explained some long formulas that others had written and I was able to fix these.
In other cases the formulas did not work.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing 🙏I've also found it to be quite good at explaining functions, although the bigger they are, the less useful it seems to be.
Thanks for talking about ChatGPT. Admittedly I’ve used it when I can’t remember how to do something you’ve shown in previous videos. I’ve had good success having it troubleshoot errors by pasting a few row and columns of data into the prompt and asking for help. Now I understand why my math teachers were always asking me to show my work. 😂
I agree, it's good for some things and I'm sure it'll get better.
I just stepped through these same questions and ChatGPT gave the correct answers instead of what was shown. Obviously, ChatGPT is a work in progress and is learning as it is being used. Thank you so much for this great video and a heads up about the latest AI/ML tools like ChatGPT. Thank you, Mynda!
Great to hear. I also found it has improved with GPT4. Exciting times.
Love how Mynda summarized it 😃
Thanks so much!
Amazing video. My own take on chat GPT function is that it is collating data from the questions users are asking, its storing the activities and if it analysing the questions asked and answers given simultaneously. It will improve itself using complex mathematical analysis by applying really advanced algorithms as the time goes by. I can easily compare it the how google has improved over the years
With the growth of internet, the search results have improved massively.
Thank you! I agree, it will improve massively and then we will stop being free 😁
Thank you so much for this!
My pleasure 😊
You right. Seem ChatGPT useful in writing VBA code, at least to get an idea or plan what the code will do.
A lot of us figured out solutions to problems from our jobs through channels like this.
We'd be grateful to still have these jobs with videos like this...
Thanks for your support!
Great video. I experiencied myself same type of good and bad answers.
I guess the advancement for ChatGPT is to, at least, understand the questions in plain language, but, for sure, still quite some room for imprvement in the answers.
Thank you! Yes, I'm sure it'll keep improving. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves.
and I agree that it is required to validate the answers that it generates
Great explanation. Congrats
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Mynda, good cautionary tale! :) Have you tried the ChatGPT 4 yet and used any plugins to help with all this?
I saw your earlier review about the chatgpt extension or add-on to include with helping to analyze the formulas. Is that still the better way to go? It's also inside Excel and can read the data too, which makes it easier, I think.
Please give your current opinion - if you have had a chance to re-check everything since 5 months ago.
Thanks so much!
I haven't tried GPT4 yet or tried any plugins. I'm waiting until Microsoft's copilot is integrated into Excel.
Your video is THE best I have seen. I share your horror. AND, the best and most correct conclusion you came to is: ChatGPT is like a politician, you have to fact check everything. And if that is true, then ChatGPT is useless for the very people who are tempted to use it most: beginners.
Thanks, Mike! I think it has a way to go before it’s super useful for Excel, but I have no doubt it’ll get there.
ChatGPT can easily make up an essay based on a false premise. It is common to keep getting "Apologies.../Sorry, you are right..." from ChatGPT, even for straight-forward boolean stuff.
I find it quite useful in regex/formula related questions though (When given the criteria and fed with sample input/output). We can get pretty tailored solution without asking it on a forum.
Yes, and it's getting better all the time!
شكرا على كل هذا الجهد المبذول من طرفك
My pleasure 😊
PSA: ChatGPT is like an idiot savant you meet at a party that the longer you talk to them the more you realize that mixed in with their brilliance is a certain amount of creative fiction spoken with convincing authority.
😁
Ah yes, I work with one of those people! Haha
This is a crucial and important video thank you for posting
Glad you liked it!
Thanks
You're welcome 😊
I work a lot with text files - pdf, doc - and many version of gpt I tested are vert limited. Beond 5 pages, it get lost or only can find info on the first pages.
Interesting to hear. I haven't tested it with files.
Excellent Analysis keep it up, chat GPT (GENERATIVE PRE TRAINED TRANSFORMER) latest version 3.5
Thank you!
thanks
You're welcome!
Have you tried Bing Chat AI for Excel queries? You'll need to sign up for the waiting list first but I've yet to try Bing with Excel queries yet. Could be interesting? :-)
I'm already on the waiting list. It looks promising.
It hasn’t yet given me a formula that has actually worked. I ended up basically doing the hard work for it (although it did understand the formula I gave it in the end, it didn’t suggest it).
It also has no knowledge of the newest dynamic array-related functions (although that’s probably easily solvable).
Personally I find it somewhat more satisfying to solve these sorts of problems myself. I’ll use AI if I’m really stuck, although it looks like it has some way to go to be properly usable on that front.
I agree, there's much satisfaction in solving problems yourself, and much learning that happens as a result too.
chatgpt is a game changer indeed...if integrated with exccell...it can work wonders
Yep, I'm sure it's coming. Exciting times.
I asked ChatGPT to tell me about the pros and cons of using VLOOKUP vs XLOOKUP, and it came out with some bizarre stuff.
Initially it said VLOOKUP was more versatile because it can return approximate matches and can look to the left, while XLOOKUP can't.
Then it said VLOOKUP was more efficient because it was a 'two-function solution'. Pushed it on that, and found it somehow thought VLOOKUP was used in conjunction with MATCH!
A bit more subjective admittedly but it also said that VLOOKUP's syntax might be considered more intuitive and easier to understand than XLOOKUP's... closed the chat at that point 😁
Interesting 😁
I asked chatGPT what was the excel keyboard shortcut to move between the four corners of a selected range, and it told me that there was no such shortcut. And only after I told it that the keyboard shortcut was Ctl+. that it corrected itself and said I was right.
😁 too funny!
It learns hahah
Does excel have a between function?
Excel does not have a built-in BETWEEN function, but you can use other functions like IF and AND to achieve the same result as the BETWEEN function.
For example, if you want to check if a value is between two other values, you can use the following formula:
python
Copy code
=IF(AND(value>=min, value
Or when it isn't given a leading question it gives you the correct answer.
Те, що чат не правильно помножує числа, це для мене відкриття. Дякую за корисне відео!
My pleasure!
Where are you from? The UK? I really like your voice and accent. And videos too 😎
Thanks so much. I'm from Australia, but I lived in London for a long time 😊
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub thank you, that might be that secret ingredient, as many UK people have very strong accent so they are hard to understand 😏
chat gpt 4 answer the between function question correctly.
I asked for a list of random items and it provided a list of personal electronics. I think that random is more expansive.
Interesting. I haven't tried that. I've asked for random data, but I've specified the type of data.
❤
Thank you!
"The bottom line is chatGPT is a bit like politicians,
You have to fact check everything it tells you"😊😊
I have found errors in Chat’s literature answers as well. It is not as familiar with Romeo and Juliet as you might think.
😁
I guess chatgpt is esefull for those who uses excel in english. Unfortunately excel in other language version uses different name for some functions and no matter how had I tried chatgpt havent been able to gave me single correct answer which included any function. Its quite huge downside
Yes, you would have to translate the functions to your language. You can use the Functions Translator: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-functions-translator
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Thats neat addon ! Thanks for answer. Frankly it seems like very dumb idea to to change exel functions names in countries which belongs to "west". Addon doenst support my language but there are othe alternatives. Highly dubt that any employer would allow addon instal tho
Chatgpt in Excel is a mad thing !!! Without the human knowledge & skill Chatgpt can't help accurately
It won't be long before ChatGPT is consuming it's own nonsense for answers...🤦♀️
🧠💥
👍
Glad you liked it!
ChatGPT is like a politician! Classically correct…😅
Thanks, Jason!
Correct my non tech ignorance but this 'knowledge' is based on a giant library searched over time, plus a learning algorithm. On top of that a language interpreter, literally learning the human input and generating a natural language output.
So three major areas where missing or wrong or nefarious data might exist.
All of which coded by flawed and biased humans.
The learning level is like a very gifted but delinquent kid trying to be grownup... That should not be trusted with knives but who we want to think can do brain surgery...
And probably is plagiarising vast swathes of the web without attribution, including maybe your forum experts ...
I.e. it's not a magical oracle but repackaging information we could have found using a search engine, albeit a lot slower.
And not sure it isn't also leveraging the search terms used along with any corrections you make... So who is helping who here??
I too wonder about the issues around the use of our content. If tools like ChatGPT replace the need to visit websites, then website owners will stop creating content for ChatGPT to answer questions from. It's a tricky balance to strike.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Yes, if I was younger I would be terrified of the future this might extrapolate to. Like C19 factory workers tending the machines, compared to their artisan ancestors only a generation before...
ChatGPT can be useful for ideas (to get past writer's block), but is bad for answers. My biggest concern is I've seen some terribly overcomplicated/cluttered formulas that I'm afraid people are going to throw in their spreadsheets without taking any time to refine them or even understand how they work. Quick to create, but awful to understand or to edit later.
Yes, there certainly are traps for the beginner relying on it.
It told me that we drive on the right hand side in the UK
😁 better not take any more driving advice from it!
"MATHS"
😁I had to make a choice of saying math or maths (my preference). I went with math because 80% of our channel visitors are from the U.S. and I figured I'd get a lot more complaints if I went with 'maths' 🤔
Not for me. I get satisfaction from devising my own solutions and, when they don't work, teasing out why.
Me too 😊
You guys are now out of job in the future
😁 maybe one day. Many of the easy questions can be answered by AI, but a lot of people's Excel questions are often far too complex to explain in natural language and require the support of example files and screenshots etc.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub I did not fail to mention "future" , chatgpt and other AI assisted tutorial site will further enhance and amplify the speed of guiding the interested individuals.
