Tretinoin and I have been besties for 7 months now and I love her so much. I was initially on Accutane for 6 months which healed my face completely and my dermatologist prescribed me 0.05% tretinoin for preventative measures. We’ve been in love ever since. I look like a whole new person, glass-like, smooth, silky skin! I wear my tretinoin at night. I’m in my 30s but tretinoin seems to be making me younger and younger everyday❤ Cleanse, tretinoin(leave for 20 minutes) then I apply my moisturiser and seal it with organic rosehip oil. I keep it as basic as possible cos of how potent Tretinoin is. Works for me ❤ 7 days a week for the rest of my life. Tretinoin forever ❤😊
Hello hello. I took accutane course last yr(6m). Did not take retinols serious and mild acne came back. Now derma has asked me to start another course and he says after it straight jump to tret for lifetime. But i am scared of purge since accutane gives you so much smooth baby skin🥹
@@Atiya111nisarI am not an expert this is just my opinion but I would suggest thinking about just starting tretinoin, since you said you have mild acne, and seeing if it helps. If not, maybe you would need another round of accutane.

Thanks for all of the videos on tretinoin. (Male in my 60s here.) I use the 0.1% every night. I put a little on my neck as well. It took a while for my neck to adapt, but it's fine now.
My cousin has acne problem for so many yrs. Until last yr she decided to go to a dermatologist. She’s been taking spironolactone 75 mg daily for her hormonal acne and tretinoin 0.05 mg every other day for 10 months now. Her skin is really clear now. No acne and even her freckles is fading now.
How odd….I take Spironolactone as a "water pill" for my Congestive Heart Failure. I don’t have acne issues, but then I’m a 52 year old post menopausal woman.
Good Morning, Dr. Dray! Thanks for the refresher on Retin-A. I use the 0.25% crème nightly. I use the Gold Bond Overnight Retinol Cream over it. I know that’s not necessarily recommended but my skin has never looked better! Have a great day!
I’m going to try that I use the gold bond retinol overnight lotion on my body every night but never thought to use it on my face although it does say face and body lotion😊
Bought me a tube while in Mexico @ .50 percent since no prescription is required. I’ve used it before for acne in my 30’s but use it in my 50’s to help with aging gracefully. 😁 Love it!
Been on tret for a month now, in a matter of weeks my persistent hormonal acne is gone🙌🏻 started on 0.5 right off the bat, every night (bold I know) But I know my resilient skin and have used retinol and differin in the past. Hi Dr. Dray. I have been following you for a few years now. Thanks to you I learnt about the importance of sunscreen and a consistent skincare routine. However, even though I am turning 25 soon I still deal with cystic acne. I am currently having the AviClear laser treatment that is meant to target the sebaceous glands. I love my tretinoin! I’ve seen great results in just four months. I can’t wait to go back to my doc in October as I will be asking for a bump in strength. Yahoooo.
Is tretinoin supposed to be on your skin 24 hours/day, i.e. apply morning and night? Also, does wearing a sunscreen over the tretinoin stop it from degrading?
I appreciate how packed this is and all important so this not not a points off deal. I’d like to know of the validity of the expiration date. It’s expensive of course and it seems to take me nearly a year to get though one tube. Obviously I don’t use it nightly. I do wash it off because I double cleanse morning and night and I’m assuming the tretinoins effect is used up by morning 8 or more hours after application. There are 3 strengths. I used lowest for a year so I suffered no peeling of uncomfortable irritation. Then I moved to the second strength and that’s been 2 yrs now with no real discomfort. I’m wondering, am I suppose to increase the strength again or if I stay at the mid level will it still further my skins improvement. I use it on my neck, décolleté, and hands sometimes. I would never wear it in daytime because I use other skincare and cosmetics - besides the important degradation.
@@DrDrayzday thank you for your information, huge question. What about when it comes to legs my legs have hyperpigmentation the product I got said it has 0.05 tretinoin with 2% hydroquinone. Happy Tuesday, Dr. Dray and Friends!🎊 How far does retinol (or any topical) spread once applied to the skin? I’m very sparing with retinol around my eyes, keeping my application contained to the ocular bone. But a lot of my wrinkles are closer to my eye than that. Will the retinol spread to treat those wrinkles? Thanks!☮️💜😊
How long should I wait to apply moisturizer after applying tretinoin? There are so many different answers on the internet. Some say put moisturizer on right away. Others say wait 20-30 minutes. However, this dries out my skin as I don't lather tretinoin haha, just a pea sized amount
Oh, thanks so much for discussing this topic! This has bugged me for quite a while, I just could not figure out what was the best time to fit tretinoin on my routine! I like to do my nighttime skincare right after work when I still have some energy. However, this is around 6 pm and on summer there is still light outside coming through the windows. I thought about applying later on the evening, like after I brush my teeth, but, after that I like to read a book, under a bedside lamp that is very close to me. So, to be sure there is no effect at all, I thought about applying the tretinoin jus before I go to sleep, but, I am a side sleeper, so I was afraid the tretinoin would just "rub off". So basically, for optimum result, I would have to apply it just before going to bed, but wait about 10-15 min in the dark and laying on my back, doing nothing, before actually going to sleep, so the tretinoin would be absorbed before I put my face on the pillow and stuff. Which is very unpractical LoL From what you said though, I guess it would be okay to apply in the evening, as long as I do not stay too close to a window, or at night, even though I stay close to a lamp, since the effect should be little. Is this correct? p.s. Sorry for the long post, I got excited about the topic 😁
I appreciate that you've covered that tretinoin degrades to isotretinoin. And, do guys have any idea where retinol, and retinyl palmitate degrades to? And does isotretinoin further degrade too?
Happy Tuesday, Doc! I have always applied my tretinoin in the evenings, but not immediately before bed. I like to apply it around 7pm and then apply my nighttime moisturizer right before bed about 3 hours later. Are there any issues with that application? Granted, it's only dark outside at 7pm in the winter here. Should I apply my tretinoin application a little later?
I love tretinoin and have been using it for years now. I have one huge issue, though: peeling skin. Ladies ❤ what are your tricks to remove it? My job requires you to wear full makeup (flight attendant) in a dry environment. Makeup becomes caky and shows peeling skin under. I have foreo brush and use one a while, but it does not work well 😢 any recommendations?
Hello Doctor, I used retinol for years and I have recently started on Tretinoin (I'm 34). I immediately noticed that my skin has gotten oilier. Why? What should I do? Thank you!
So are computer screens and cellphones okay? “…an unrealistic exposure to lightbulbs and artificial light.” I work from home at night in front of a computer with a lamp on my desk.
Treti does not help with my inherited genetically anomalous sebum production > acne (only her cousin) but it keeps me frozen in time, I swear. I' m gonna turn 50 next month and it makes me experience some dissociation in front of the mirror, a simultaneously weird and kinda pleasant feeling. I' ve been seeing the exact same face every day for the last 20 years🤯 and my brain knows that a 50 yo person is supposed to have at least some lines🤷🏻♀️. Ikd, it' s very convoluted and I' m not skilled enough in english to articulate an easily understandable explanation🙈. Needless to say, Dr. Dray, I could watch a daily video about retinoids with pleasure. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Dr. Dray I've been using tretinoin for a long time, as well as Kiehls brand - I'm thinking of adding a new one. What do you think about Medik8 ? better? the same? TY for your advice - I'm a long time folllower.
Dr Dray, sometimes when I forget to apply my retinol serum at night, I apply it the following morning followed by a broad spectrum SPF50 mineral sunscreen on top. Will the sunscreen protect the efficacy of the retinol?
So would the taro .05 not be as affective during the day? I only ask because I've been using it during the day for a bit now and wanted to know if I'm getting the full effect of it. Is there a way I would be able to tell??
if tolerated, retinoids can help with rosacea, though retinaldehyde is a cosmetic ingredient, and use of retinoids in rosacea is going to be largely prescription retinoids
@@DrDrayzday thank you! I suffer from rosacea with papules and pustules. However, I don't have insurance. What would be the closest over the counter retinoid I could use? I would appreciate any suggestions.
I am curious if Adapalene is recommended for use at night as well? My dermatologist does not feel I need a RX for Tretinoin as I do not suffer from any skin conditions. I only wish to use it for anti aging.
I had a really bad experience this past winter with tretinion. I had been using it for several years with no complications until this last winter. I got eczema on my eyes, around my ears and neck really bad. Had to go to doctor and was given some creams to heal my face for 3 weeks. Now I can only do once a week and even then I notice flare ups. I use tretinion for skincare anti-aging. Wondering if I need to change my dosage back down??
@@Keepitpink I would always put on all my skin care right after. Some of the other skincare would go on my eyes which could have made it worse. I have gone to the lowest dose now and have to start from scratch.
Are there any other benefits to Retin-A Micro? When I switched insurance companies they switched me from Retin-A Micro to regular Retin-A. I do apply it right before bed. I’m wondering if I should ask for Retin-A Micro again if there’s additional benefits. I’ve been on it for 15+ years so irritation is no longer an issue. I use it for melasma.
So many derms and you recommend cerave retinol so I got it because tret can be too strong for me, I used it and it broke me out in red dots and also dry spots all over my face. Not pleased at all!

Thank you for this!! I am still really new to using tretinoin and feel like I wasn’t using it right.
Isotretinoin with erythromycin gel is best to treat acne but the thing is it's really hard to tolerate it
Please shed more light on it ۔ I have done a lot of research on this and very curious to learn more
And yet another EXCELLENT video!! Thank you so much.💖
You are so welcome!
@@DrDrayzday thank you for your information, huge question. What about when it comes to legs my legs have hyperpigmentation the product I got said it has 0.05 tretinoin with 2% hydroquinone. Will this work if I put it on every night, and at the end of the three months it says to take a break what product should I use during that time, thank you so so much
now peeps are using red/uv light therapy at home - worth a mention and your special brand on insight on this maybe?
Thanks for sharing! Love and take care! 💛
Thanks for watching!
Very deep insight. Thank you very much Dr. Dray!
The question is how much trentinoin is absorbed over 2 hours, 4 hours etc.? How much absorption does your skin need to be effective?
Dr. Dray, what do you think about salicylic acid (nuetrogena) morning and night and tretinoin every other night? Are the 2 ok together? I have oily skin
Routines vary from person to person
This comment may seem rude so i apologize in advance. The way i see it is we all age we cant escape it. I have acne but its mild and it doesnt bother me much with that being said. If you have severe acne i can see why it would bother someone. Im just saying i dont care to go all out on the skin care for flawless skin in my opinion it will just happen anyway. Plus the side effects to some of the skin care isn't worth. So i just on in life without caring what ppl say
Interesting topic! Thanks for the info.
Hi, Dr. Dray. I am not sure if i missed it in the video, but what about cell phone light? Could it affect the efficacy once it is on the face? Thank you!!🎉
Happy Tuesday Dr Dray and everyone . This was so helpful . I am using adapalene . HAve a fabulous day love to mom and Tybee xoxoxo

Hi mary ann Gonzalez. Have a great day and take care.
I have A bottle of Nivea repair and care Fregrance free and I am wondering if it’s 1.a good moisturizer to use all the time and 2. If it’s safe to use on my face.
Thank you!!
I love your videos!!
I use retinaldehyde 5x a week i can see improvement in pores size and texture in just 2 weeks
Good to know! 💙
Thanks!☮️💜😊
Greetings Barb Owens hope u r well n Happy Tuesday😀👍💜….
@@whitneybrown4067 Hi, Whitney! I’m doing great, thanks! 😊 I hope you’re enjoying life and feeling well! ✌️🫶
She recommends eye products containing vit a for the eye area
Thanks for this. I you have a great day everyone ❤
I really need to be much more consistent with using my tretinoin, I’m just not used to having it in my small skincare collection! 👀🤦🏽♀️
Happy Tuesday!
Same to you!
hope you're all enjoying your Tuesday xo

…apply on spa nights for fun 😂😂😂❤ consistency is the key !!! 😍 Thanks
@DrDrayzday : How about retinol and LED masque? Does inactivate the retinol??
Great info as always. Happy Tuesday 🌞🌸🌼

@@DrDrayzday Video title is incorrect; shows retinol not tretinoin.
Actually many have desk lamps at work. Also meds can make you photosensitive.
How long should I wait to apply moisturizer after applying tretinoin? There are so many different answers on the internet. Some say put moisturizer on right away. Others say wait 20-30 minutes. However, this dries out my skin as I don't lather tretinoin haha, just a pea sized amount
Applying moisturizer right after is fine.
She has a video on best moisturizers to use retinol and explains how to use it.
Hello Dr. Dray, thank you for the video. My question is should I quit using tretinoin during summer months? Thank you in advance.
Thank you for this information!🥰
You are so welcome!
Which is very unpractical LoL
From what you said though, I guess it would be okay to apply in the evening, as long as I do not stay too close to a window, or at night, even though I stay close to a lamp, since the effect should be little.
It is unlikely an issue
Just wait until after sunset…that’s basically what she said in this video.
Happy Tuesday Dr dray, have been using tretinoin for 2 years, it really helped with my acne a lot 😀
Thanks for sharing!!
Hello Doctor,
I used retinol for years and I have recently started on Tretinoin (I'm 34). I immediately noticed that my skin has gotten oilier. Why? What should I do?
Thank you!
I have read about retinal recently, saying it is less irritating. Can you share your thoughts on this vs. retinol? Love your videos!
Hi Dr. Dray, is it true that for decent UVA protection on mineral sunscreens you need above 10% zinc oxide? Some sources citing above 20% is needed.
So are computer screens and cellphones okay?
“…an unrealistic exposure to lightbulbs and artificial light.”
I work from home at night in front of a computer with a lamp on my desk.
Will sunscreen protect the tretenoin if you apply in the morning and also how long after applying tretenoin do I want to avoid the sun?
Dr Dray can you please make a video on the Crystal Hair Eraser, like Bleame? I have seen a lot of ads about that on the internet
Very helpful, thanks!
Dr Dray why don't you look into an SPF stick-on invisible film that you apply to the windows? Isn't this easier than wearing sunscreen indoors?
Beautiful dr dray love you put a youtube today 😊❤xx
I put Retin A on my Under eyes and Eyelids twice a week because I’m built different 👹👹. My entire face every night.
How long do I have to wait to apply my moisturizer after tretinoin?
Have you tried the new La Roche Posay gentle foaming oil cleanser?
Doctor dray, please kindly suggest what treatment/ointment one can apply to a itchy beards.
I do the same, good question.
So would the taro .05 not be as affective during the day? I only ask because I've been using it during the day for a bit now and wanted to know if I'm getting the full effect of it. Is there a way I would be able to tell??
What do you think about studies that suggest that retinaldehyde helps with rosacea (with papules and pustules in particular)?
if tolerated, retinoids can help with rosacea, though retinaldehyde is a cosmetic ingredient, and use of retinoids in rosacea is going to be largely prescription retinoids
@@DrDrayzday thank you! I suffer from rosacea with papules and pustules. However, I don't have insurance. What would be the closest over the counter retinoid I could use? I would appreciate any suggestions.
@@eggyboi419 Use a Good RX coupon... The lowest I saw was around $30. Your Dr. still has to prescribe it to you though..

I am curious if Adapalene is recommended for use at night as well? My dermatologist does not feel I need a RX for Tretinoin as I do not suffer from any skin conditions. I only wish to use it for anti aging.
She has a short on adapalene gel saying it can be used day or night. You can also check out her video on adapalene gel for anti-aging.
I have a shellfish allergy and read that tret has some ingredients that might trigger my allergy. I’m so sad because I’ve been wanting to get on it.
I’m allergic contrast dye/shellfish. I use .1% every two days on my skin
Snail mucin has that correlation, non tret
Dr. Dray- What are your thoughts on skincare with exosomes? Do they work and are they worth the $267 price?
Walking W right here
According to RUclips captions this is a video about some guy named Trent Nolan 😅
Curious if the brand/manufacturer changed? or cream vs gel ?
Are you using tret on your eyes? You’re supposed to avoid the eye area because it irritates them
@@daniellemcvay5832 I was using Curology cream.
@@Keepitpink I would always put on all my skin care right after. Some of the other skincare would go on my eyes which could have made it worse. I have gone to the lowest dose now and have to start from scratch.
nice mic!
I use it for melasma.
retin A micro is less irritating. It is more expensive, which is probably why your insurance switched to regular Retin-A
So many derms and you recommend cerave retinol so I got it because tret can be too strong for me, I used it and it broke me out in red dots and also dry spots all over my face. Not pleased at all!
