Dr Jim, you are an impressive teacher, taking something complicated and breaking it down in a very organized, comprehensive and concise style. Looks like you are speaking off the cuff, not reading notes. Your fluid speaking style keeps me from getting me bogged down in having to work to pay attention. Well done! Thank you for the very valuable content!
This is fantastic and some of the best educational content I have seen on Tastytrade yet . Huge thanks, Dr. Jim. You've got to understand how unbelievably hard this subject is to teach and you crushed it with no hesitation. Most impressive. Thanks for the help in understanding options!
Possibly, one of the best recap courses ever. Professional, understandable, and to the point. A great starter to dig further. Great job!
Yeah I agree.
Indian traders here
all are scamer in indian stock market
I am here from Indian Market
You are the top of the tops !! I've been following more than 3 courses up to now. No one gave me the clear picture about 1) vaid strategy & reasons behind it ! 2) clear understanding of greeks usability 3) clear understanding that we have to trade with option prices changes during time and not relying of being ITM or OTM. Thanks !
This is the 4th options video I've tried to do a deep dive in and the only one I've been able to stick with and actually glean something from. Not that some of that isn't user error, but kudos and thank you!
Please bring a crash course on Futures too.
Has he made one yet? Or have u found a good one?
The BEST explanation of options I've heard anywhere. Just sort of stumbled on this video, and glad I did.
Dr J. its been a long time since I've attended a presentation on such a complex subject and been so impressed. The content, pacing, and structure of the program was spot on. I have a lot more to learn about options and trading but this has been a superb foundation. I can't thank you and tasty enough.
excellent video!! I started trade options a couple months ago, I watched numerous videos about it... but this one is professional, given by a professional. congratulations!
Jim, THX a lot for the best (free and costly) Option-Course I've ever follow!!!
(I invested hundreds of hours & thousands of €)
Just the sort of thing I’m looking for rn as a beginner
Awesome, TJ - reach out if you run into any issues at all.
Wow. I found this fantastic. Tied together so many elements for me. I could not stop watching and will find the other crash courses. Thank you, Merci
Awesome, brother...thanks for watching!
This is a great video on options. Thank you Dr. Jim for this impressive video.
So well explained and simple to understand. Thanks so much
I tried to simplify things as best I could...so glad it helped you!
I have watched 5 times now...
GREAT presentation. Crystal clear and very helpful.
Mind blown. Thanks and GOD bless you
This by far is the most informative and honest course ever..
Love your teaching style. Do you have a course on futures trading for complete newbies?
Handsome, more of this type of educational video, please. We love you and keep up the excellent work.
Preciate you so much!
Great content and great presentation, i learnt a lot! thanks bro
Excelente. Muchas gracias desde algun lugar de Sur Amreica
The best crash course on basic options!
Thank you so much Sir! I feel it's better to learn from such crash course over reading books. Kindly explain about uncorrelated strategies and what are things to be considered to come up and confirm these are uncorrelated
Hi Dr. Jim.
First of all thank you for this, this is amazing!
I just had a question regarding the strategy @ 1:21:56.
In the short put vertical, the short position is 3.20usd while the long is 2.54, max profit = 0.66
While in the short call vertical, the short is 3.40usd and long is 2.59, max profit = 0.81
How is the max profit on the strategy 194 and not 147? Please correct me.
wow ,,,great teaching, this change my outlook on what i thought i knew about trading, i feel more focused and confident in my approach even after trading for 7yrs
Best and most underrated channel for trading options, thanks alot for all the efforts into making these materials 😅😅😅
This breakdown is awesome I have watched other options tutorials but came away with more questions than answers. This video is exactly what I have been looking for
One of the best courses I’ve ever been through. Thanks Dr Jim
BTW when will Tasty come to Australia?
The best explanation of options that I have watched.
The Professor is in the HOUSE! Great Job!!
Taking y'all back to the classroom!

You and me both
Wow so glad this video is back in RUclips. Can't wait to watch it again. God Bless you
thanks for taking the time to make the video .. great work
Awesome, appreciate you!
Hot dawg, this was very informative. Love that is was both macro and micro on individual positions and management as well as portfolio approach. Thanks
I loved the video, watched it all and will rewatch sections. I do have one remark. If the presenter mentions other videos it would be awesome to link those in the description, otherwise it's difficult to followup with all the references made in the material. Keep up the awesome work!
Just added links to the description! Thank you for the feedback and so happy this course could help you!
@@tastyliveshow wow that's what I call ace community management :)
The greatest presentation about options trading.!! Thanks
Excellent video Jim. Clear and understandable explanations. Great work.
Very informative and knowledgeable explanation. Thanks for this
Excelente video, haremos así para México
Superb job, Dr! I have already recommended it to two friends.
That's so cool! It's because of people like you that we can do what we do, so keep sharing the message.
At 32:25 or your video, should that slide be titled EXTRINSIC VALUE?
🍻 Absolutely Fantastic. Loved it!!!! Cheers
Oh, good catch here - correct!
Absolutely the best information available
Thanks, Dr Jim and the Tasty Team!
Daily trade the SPY that’s all folks
Thanks Jim. Lovely and super useful to have all this information in one space and course. And i'm totally not surprised you were a professor before joining Tasty. Although i have to admit i did think you look too young to have been one! Keep up the great education guys!
The lecture was good and clear until we got to an actual Short Vertical Spread example at 1:16:51. The next few minutes are totally confusing: "This make you net positive Theta, that makes you 20 cents a day and you already on 27th" - on 27th what? 27th day? How do I know we are on 27th day? There is nothing on the screen mentions 27th day.
"On trade bar Tasty is already converted to a whole number for your" - where is it on the screen?
"Net Positive Delta because it is a bullish trade" - how do I know it is a bullish trade?
"Net negative Vega" - is not displayed anywhere.
"Max profit $100 on the credit you collected of $1dollar times 100 shares in the contract" - where did I collected it? Where this $100 came from?
"Width of the spread of $3" - how is it calculated? Spread is the difference between ask and bid. Bid is 4.66 and Ask is 3.70. Where is $3 came from?
Further explanation like “Spread is in the money and you have to buy it for $2.70” is utterly confusing
Thanks Man!!! Absolute awesome content
I love your content guy! Cheers from Brasil!
this is a really well put together video thanks man
How should one manage the situation when in Short Call Vertical Spread at expiration Price of stock is above Short Call Strike Price but lower than Long Call Strike price. and similarly In Short Put Vertical Spread
Thank you for this content! Are there videos on Tasty that walk through how to place, manage and close a trade on the platform and how to utilize the platform with regard to the Greeks , IVR and liquidity? You explained the concepts really well and now I’d like to understand how to put them into practice on the Tasty platform. Thank you!
We have a series called Options Trades Today where Tony walks through finding and placing a trade on the tastytrade platform! ruclips.net/video/OE2WgpQuoLk/видео.html
Thanks for great explanations🙏
Thank you very much DR. Jim
Great program, even for a recap. Thanks
17:46 it says the max loss for a short put is unlimited. But isn’t the max loss capped at (strike_price * 100)?
At 1:21:45 on the Iron Condor setup, I don't understand how you know we're collecting 0.94 on the short put spread and 1.00 from the short call spread(?) I see the put premium on the order details at the bottom left of the screen is $0.66, and the call premium is 0.81 ... just doing the math quickly (P = 3.20-2.54; and C = 3.40-2.59).
Great content as always Dr. Jim. Just a minor comments IV is higher than HV in several underlyings but not in all😢
Good morning, have a question on stocks. It is my understanding that say i own a stock that is a $10.00 per share stock. and i put in a sell order GTC for $50.00 that my share could not be used for shorting. Is this true #1 and would having a covered call have the same effect ?
Very professional job.Thanks.
Thank you so much
I wish there was a paper-trade functionality so we can practice - none in ireland let you do covered calls etc
Great content as always Dr. Jim. Just a minor comments IV is higher than HV in several underlyings but not in all
Thank you! Yes, there have been times in the recent years where IV < HV, but historically, IV > HV most of the time, and that is what we're trading.
Great work Dr. Jim!!
🙏 very educational.
Great content, thank you!
Thanks for the great content. So many scammers out there trying to sell this same information.
Preciate you!
Yes I see it everywhere!
can you please share the rolling strategy playlist
ruclips.net/p/PLPVve34yolHY2tN8U9QySzujt1iP_YHT0
Thank you for this masterclass
Should divide long videos into many shorter ones. Will help get more views and subs. 10-20 min videos.
That's why we added the chapters into the long video, so you can easily bounce around to find what you want, if you don't want to watch the whole thing.
I still can't muster up the courage to get wrapped up in an undefined-loss option contract. 😳
Totally understand. Start with DR trades for a while for sure. Then, when you want to consider UR, only do indexes under $60 to start with - that will limit just how bad it can practically get.
Is the slide show used in this presentation available as a separate file?
01:13 30 Defined Risk Strategies. Please amend this time missing colon :
AWESOME
Dr Jim, in your GLD Short $164 and loss is $16k, what happens if you only have $5k in your account and that you cannot pay the balance? Will this trade be allowed anyway knowing you only have $5k? Sorry for this just a newbie in this.
Awesome!👏
Many thanks for the crash course.
You touched on how to select candidates for trading, namely by using the default and Tom's list. Would then look at their charts to ensure that it's trading in the direction that is required.
With regards to risk allocation, would you allocate 1 to 5 % per trade or per strategy?
Thanks again
Nice ✌️
Love from Bharat.
Great video
I like this guy.
NVIDIA Rising
Is atr same as expected move
awesome!
I think the Black-Scholes equation will have to be revised and a variable for "meme stonk" added! 😂
Need a 2023 updated version
This is great. Thank you very much. Coffee on me next time you are in NYC
Deal!
If we sell a put beyond the 1 SD, will the probability of the put being OTM at close still be 85% even after a few days if the stock moves or volatility increases ?
No. If the stock moves towards your put. Then the probability of expiring OTM decreases.
With IV spike, then expected move is increased aswell. So, then the probability of expiring OTM decreases as well.
💯 percent approved 👍
This is great but how exactly do you "stay small" on undefined risk strategies? Are you referring to small BPR?
So staying small is basically for each undefined risk position stay within 4-7% of net liq buying power.
Good stuff, Jim. Awesome content and wonderful course. Thanks to you, Bom and Pony for the programming.
Love from India 🤍🤍
Don't you have to have 100 shares of a stock to sell puts or calls?
No .Thats a covered Call !you need Cash for puts and Calls
No, thank you Dr. Jim!
Every broker, every adviser, every hedge fund, every exchange. got into the business because they learned the only way to run viably make money in the markets is
to take money from John Q. Public. If they had any secrets to beating the market, they sure as hell wouldn’t be giving them away.
What about the instructors that share their P&L?
@@REALPLSHOWN I listen to a podcast and the guy actually tracks all of his trades and its all publicly on his own website, but patrons can see it the moment he logs the trade. He talks about both the wins and the losses. But I agree with Notrocketscience101s idea of a lot of scammers out there.
Goldmine!
The market maker can also be a she or it (algo) ^_^
1:06:21 Correction: Buyers don't need to nail direction if they are long things like straddles/strangles or are delta-hedged with shares.
Does forex have options?
@tbd1812 Do you know which brokerage allows you to trade forex options? I have TD Ameritrade and forex options don't even show up in this brokerage trading platform
@MyrealTV Your best bet is going to be currencies futures on TD, what exactly are you trying to do?
@@sethc27 I normally trade nake puts on ETFs and blue chip stocks like SPY and AAPL. I'm looking to get more leverage. Futures options like the /ES gives me more buying power and leverage and I heard that forex options has even more leverage
Hello doc , in very last part of video are you talking about IVR concept .... the video from tasty trade back 2016 ruclips.net/video/KvuQGqKBh2U/видео.htmlsi=hkUtCjGdtBfexSOz clearly says : IVR can NOT be above 100 , but in your video you have IVR above 100 , slide 1:49:50 says IVR =106 .....so , is there a difference between IVR and IV% ? please clarify which one should be used for the concept of mean to reversion ??? what is the application of IVP /IVR
Good info. but a 3rd grader wouldn’t understand it.
