This was amazing. I never thought rope could be this calm and focused. I would love more content like this, where you are visiting different kink scenes and be shown the real scene of that kink instead of what movies and media decide to show. Your friend was also lovely, I loved listening to her point of view as well. ❤
Firstly, I just want to say how much I adored this video. But honestly, I think the most important part of this video was how you both checked in with one another throughout the whole process. More content like this please!
I really like her teaching style; very clear and informative without getting technical on beginners. I've watched other videos about rope but they were by BDSM and kink educators so seeing this one from Hannah's perspective added a different perspective I can relate to more since I don't practice any of this. I'd love more videos in this style; very chill but also very educational at the same time. I could fall down a rabbit hole learning about the topic even though I realistically can't participate.
Many people don’t realise how dangerous rope bondage is. It is a form of ‘edge play’ due to the high level of risk associated with potential nerve damage. Another point to note is that rope you get in ‘beginner bondage kits’ typically come with synthetic rope which feels lovely because it’s soft, however it is more likely to cinch in on itself when any kind of pressure is applied to it. I love that she has recommended safety shears straight up, and that she recommended a single column tie and demonstrated it for you. If you are someone serious about learning rope and you are over 18, find your local kink scene and ask for knowledge about rope!! Most would be happy to help point you in the right direction. Happy safe tying!
I've always saw bondage as a dance: One person leads and the other follows, but both have to move in unison for be a good dance. Thanks for showing the class. It was beautiful and interesting.
I love this! I didn't know there were rope bondage classes. It sounds like such a great meditative thing to do and get out of your usual routine once a week. You are doing so many cool things and meeting so many cool people through your channel, I am a bit jealous and very happy for you!
I've been intrigued about rope for a while now, and this was a lovely, informative introduction! Especially learning how calming this can be as someone with a racing mind due to anxiety and ADHD! Thanks 😊
@@Tooscared2blink It can go both ways I guess. I also have adhd and I looove rope, both being tied but also tying and learning new ways to tie people. It's very tactile and muscle-memory focused which I find much more engaging than other kinds of learning. And yeah there are a lot of adhd folks on the scene - rope in particular I find incredibly calming, done well it puts you in this state of timeless bliss.
I wonder what the crossover is like between people who used to be Scouts or Guides and people who are into rope bandage, because my eyes lit up when Anna started talking about Reef and Granny knots 👀
It started out as a Japanese military prisoner binding torture thing, from a long history of meditative ritual knot tying at shrines and such, and it almost immediately became a popular erotic practice from out of that. But yeah I'm curious about the link to navy/sailor/scout people in its current globalized context as well.
Oh my, this is such a well done and informative video! The emphasis on connection, sensation, and safety is beautiful and has made me want to learn more. Thanks so much for posting even though it’s been age restricted 🙏🏼
Really interesting, especially the part about the importance of feeling and connection between people and less focus on esthetics. On a side note - it's crazy this needs to be age restricted.
I learned my roommate was a bondage instructor in his spare time like a month into sharing a room with him. I flat out didn't believe it was a thing, or that he would be someone who would teach that, until he showed me photos of him teaching his class 😆
I didn't even think about getting into particular kink stuff when I started. I almost wish I had thought about this side of stuff, loved this video! I will say watching people play with ropes at parties definitely pushed me to want to know more, and now this video has shown me where to look.
omg, this was so informative. i was working last year as an assistant at the ropes course (climbing activity) and i've learned some helpful knots, but these look very creative (and are obv used in a different context). thanks for making this video
This is so interesting! It does look like fun. I crochet, and I guess the idea of this appeals to me on some level for that reason. Thank you for introducing us to this concept! I look forward to more videos taking a peek into the various types of play out there. :)
when i first saw you post about this upcoming video i was so excited! a really lovely watch, made me itch to do some tying again soon (i've not had much time between work and my biggest passion which is dancing
Absolutely loved this video! Anna really is what I've imagined a lovely rope instructor to be like, and you seem to enjoy yourselves so much!! Also I'm very much into this new format of videos of you going out and meeting sex positive people and trying out new things! 😍
I love how calm and chill this video was and I wanted to try this before btut even more so now! And I like that the sexual part of this has been completely detatched from this so both things can coexist.
Thank you soo much for this video it can be difficult to know where to start with things like this. I am so excited to give it a go think it might be my new hobby ☺️
Wow! Never did I think rope might be something that could appeal to a vanilla gal like me but the slow tension looks amazing!! Thanks for sharing this Hannah!
Though I've been aware of rope play like this for a while, I've never had a broken down like this. I'm so interested! The focus on sensation and connection with the other person is something that is so appealing to me. I'm a Blues dancer and when I'm having a really good close embrace dance with someone I'm really comfortable with and trust it is nourishing to me in a way I think this would be for the same reasons
this is such a lovely video, it's made me really interested in doing this sort of class. I think the bondage community in my city is quite small though and mostly involves my partner's parent-figures (like his informal foster family) which doesn't feel super comfortable for me. But maybe when I move somewhere else I'll try find classes to take... It looks really fun and I think it would be a really satisfying skill to master
I have always found rope play to be very calm and meditative. My husband and I appreciate it as an erotic art form. It's been a while for me, but this is a good reminder to get the ropes back out!
This was so interesting and surprising. Thanks so much for making this video, Hannah! This made me very interested in trying some classes and experiencing it with a partner.
I believe strict bondage mutes or deletes your body's physical attachment with reality. When as many senses are taken away as possible I believe it leaves pure consciousness left soaking up what stimulus are applied. This would be the "flow" state where experiences are extremely disassociated with reality and senses are actually at their highest. I believe people's inner being seek out this disconnection from "earth" and bondage is the cleanest, purest way to it, with the exception of maybe a sensory dep tank. It's where our soul can temporarily detach I guess is a better way to phrase my opinion.
This looks like a lot of fun and a great medatative experience, maybe I'll drag a friend to a studio to try it out. On an unrelated note, I just got done with the video featuring Jamie, Ben and Anand about masculinity. The part about expectations in differently gendered friendships is fresh on my mind and I think it's interesting that you brought a female friend to this rather than a male friend.
They kind of skim over the nerve impingement thing: Check in with each other on tightness and sensation. For the binding person, stick as much as you can to tying the squishy bits with muscly and bone bits underneath, so not like the belly, or the sinewy lanky bits near one's joints. For the bound person, regularly touch your fingers together, wiggle and twist your stuff a bit, and immediately call for loosening or untying if you lose sensation or feel a big pinch. ONLY PUSH THESE LIMITS OR DO SUSPENSIONS AND TIGHT STUFF IF YOU'RE EXPERIENCED. Oh also, in practice not every harness bind looks like you made a pretzel person. You can adapt everything to how flexible the other person is or wants to be. (Trust me I've done three or so workshops and was raised an overconfident white man)
This is actually pretty interesting, Hannah. It definitely clears up a major misunderstanding I had about it when seeing rope bondage in porn... Especially since it doesn't even have to be about that...
I've watched content from some BDSM and kink educators and that's one important thing I've seen them bring up. It doesn't have to be about sex in any way. This video did a great job of showing this too.
You could watch this video with her. Tell her you found a cool video you want to share with her, then it could be easier to discuss the topic without it seeming like it came out of nowhere. Maybe check out the book they mentioned too.
I absolutely adore rope! This was a really nice intro as well! Although I would perhaps encourage anyone wanting to get a feel for the experience of what rope can offer to ditch the bunny-ears tie (which most people find gets uncomfortable pretty quickly) and instead just experiment with wrapping the rope around the body in different ways, starting from a single column tie around one or two limbs. You get loads of opportunity to try different amounts of tension and discover where best to place rope on the body to stop it slipping, while your bottom gets to learn about the sensations of rope and how it feels in different places and how tight they like it to be. And because there's very little to fiddle with you can stay much more connected to your partner. Even after years of learning shibari I still like to do this kind of minimalist play very regularly because of how fluid and connective it can feel. And it's something anyone can do from day one!
Platonic non-sexual bondage is a real pleasure to have fun with between friends or in a structured environment! It's really a lovely art form and practice! ^_^
This is awesome and my favorite activity to do to my sub in BDSM play. It makes me feel in control and have power over my partner in a sensual way. The only problem is if I forget to take the rope off... jk 😉

its great for ADHD to be tied but let me be honest, learning the proper knots was/is a chore with ADHD xD
