Although I really admire the way he made sense of his depression and how he was able to get out of it wiser, taking medication is nothing to be ashamed of. I've been depressed for more than 8 years and I tried several types of therapy (just to avoid meds) and only last year when I was put on antidepressants that I finally started to feel better.
In some cases medication can help, but in other cases it makes things worse. Every person reacts differently to certain substances. Unfortunately in my family there have been two cases where medication made things worse ...
Stop going to therapy and taking medication, all of this is detrimental for yourself. Start boxing, learn to be a stoic, travel and enjoy life instead of moaning about what's wrong in your life.
@@fulippuannaghiti1965 I think he is not moaning about his life, he is just talking about his depression. You wouldn't tell a diabetic to leave insulin and travel more. You wouldn't tell a scorbutic person to leave his vitamin C. Depression is a chemical imbalance that sometimes can be solved by the body on it's own, but sometimes additional help is needed.
@@marco.trevisan your hormone imbalances are controlled most of the time by yourself; it's all about the message you convey to your brain and the hologram it decipheres from it. The cases where hormone imbalance is a uncontrollable anomaly are rare, most of depressed people are self made not born. So don't compare a diabetic person or a scorbutic one with a depressed individual. I was depressed because I wanted to see the world grey and the glass half empty, I changed myself so my depression disappeared and I stopped paying those thieves called therapists, which without you being depressed they would be working at McDonald's. Buffon should wake up every morning and be grateful of what he achieved, selfishness and ungratefulness are the first cause of depression.
@@fulippuannaghiti1965 Everyone find their way out of depression. I'm glad you found yours. Even so, I think you would benefit by learning about depression. It's not just about feeling sad, it's a measurable imbalance in the body's production of dopamine, serotonin, GABA and other neurotransmitters. It's perfectly comparable to diabetes or scurvy. When the imbalance is small, it can be fixed with having healthy habits, same as vitamin C deficiency can be cured just by having a lemonade. When the imbalance is big, solutions at other level are needed. There is no reason to feel ashamed when someone needs help. Many people die every day to self harm for avoiding this help.

What a humble guy! Depression is a human epidemic that, thankfully, isn't regarded as taboo to discuss. I battled with it for years and it's encouraging that people who are at the top of their game also struggle with this debilitating condition
"I must prove to myself that I deserve the gift of life" Wow, that's profound. Was not able to get over my depression without medication despite all the therapies in the world. But that phrase speaks volume to me.

Dear Gigi, your message to hope is wonderful. The mind is important like the body, but sometimes the depression is an enemy very strong to kill.Sometimes the medicines are necessary unfortunately.
@XZSANTOXSZ 'many of them are caused by genetics and chemical disorders'. This may be true but for the most time depression is caused by situatiational factors and mostly nurtured. To treat these factors, medication is NOT THE SOLUTION. Like Buffon said: 'you have to look internally to find what has bothering you'!
@@lucaaz14 But even in those cases medicine is sometimes needed not make the patient able to overcome their struggles when they are to deep in the depression. And the treatment of depression is very difficult because no depression is the same.
@@milliecookie8539 I completely agree with Lucas here. Medication should be taken with a lot of care. Everyone can react differently to certain substances, and unfortunately I have witnessed two cases in my family where medication made things worse. In some cases medication definitely helps, but in my experience a lot of psychiatrist nowadays prescribe pharmaceuticals way too often, just because it is a lot easier for them than trying to find potential causes of the issue and suggest personal, non-pharmaceutical treatment. Another thing that might play its role in this is that drug companies make a lot of profit selling those pharmaceuticals ...

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truthand the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
You can fake happyness and satisfaction, but you will never have the peace of God until you confess your sins to God and believe that he died, was burried and rose again so you may have everlasting life.

One of a kind player because he always was more than a player.
You don’t know how much football fans love you
Such an intelligent and well-spoken guy for a footballer. Should be a motivational speaker.
I keep coming back to this .
"if you always seek external solutions to your internal problems, you will never be able to really solve them"
This is a very true and spiritual principle that he talks about.. Cool and inspiring to see!
But depression can be attributed to a chemical imbalance.
Depression can't be solved by thought alone
@@66kaisersoza I never implied that it could be solved by thought alone. But I do think we underrestimate the power of thought and intentions. Either way yes ofcourse there's a chemical inbalance but most of the time this really isnt the case.
Gigi is a great man as well as a great athlete
how does a man's leg start to shake from depression and not when he's playing in front of the entire world in the world cup final?

I've watched him play over more than 15 years as goalkeeper. Never seen him in this light before though. Respect to this man and his vision.
What a humble guy! Depression is a human epidemic that, thankfully, isn't regarded as taboo to discuss. I battled with it for years and it's encouraging that people who are at the top of their game also struggle with this debilitating condition

Love this man's honesty. Depression is a terrible illness and can be debilitating for most. The fact that he went on to be one of the best goalkeepers ever, in a pressure cooker environment, says everything about the man.
I've always been a fan of GiGi since I started supporting Milan/Serie A. All i knew about him that he's a lovable person on and off the field. What a legend.

Profound words from a legend. Depression seems to manifest differently in some but so similar too. He is right that it is something that can and should be talked about, nothing to hide or be ashamed of. Find those “tools” as he put it, that do help. I’ve suffered for years with it and my heart goes out to anyone else going through it and those around us that it can effect too.
