One of the most underrated tracks in all of FF. The entire 12 OST gets overlooked for obvious reasons. The way this piece slowly builds up is amazing. 4:15 always gives me goosebumps.
People often dont realise how to appreciate the artist who makes these nostalgic and beast of music and then we have the stupid news channels debating if game music is actual music
@@Ireallylikeeggs I have to disagre, even if I love FF12 soundtrack; both FF13 and 15 despite their problems have incredible soundtracks. Especially 15.
One the couple of good memories I have of my dad is when I was about 14 or so, and I played through the whole Bahamut Fortress climax on the PS2 while he watched, and he was blown away because the last time he played video games was on the NES. He was like, "this is incredible!" and I couldnt have agreed more.
Love how on the first half of the fight the music themes come from the Empire and the villains, but then the hero themes dominate the second half of the track.
Nice observation. Hellfire from FFXV does the same thing. It's a really cool technique that makes the music so much better as a listener when you notice it.
Played this game for the first time on Monday, beat it today on Sunday. First Final Fantasy to 'click' with me and the first I've seen all the way through. Absolutely stellar game!
In my humble opinion, Imperitur is one of the few Final Fantasy final bossess that truly deserves to be one. P.S. Imperitur is his name in my language. I just find it cooler than the Undying.
One of my favorite last boss themes of all time. Up there with Chrono Trigger's World Revolution easily. The way this song incorporates themes that you've been listening to all along throughout the story makes it beautiful just like CT's. Especially after the harp @ 7:15, beautifully composed.
There's this windchime like instrument that comes in at the ending of the complete thing before leading into the next repetition and I'm sort of in love with it. For such a huge arrangement it's the little things that really push this track into legend-status
The undying preparing for Teraflare The undying unleashed Teraflare (all but Balthier is wiped out) select party leader Balthier : I'm the leading man. (grab gil pouch) and the leading man never dies! (throw gil) basically what I'm doing during boss fight
Feels slightly weaker in this version but Sakimoto means its almost always going to be incredible 12 was incredible Of the original 12 Final Fantasy games Its easily in my top 3 games in the franchise
@@mmmmm9678 I said it's slightly weaker and only due to RUclips's horrendous compression. I normally like the company's remasters although fans normally beat them to it by years. Recently rehearing it on Spotify with headphones and it's incredible just how much more audio is identifiable there.
I played this game as a kid when I was like 16-17 never beat it couldn’t get past the damn disease status recently went back because I’ve been playing through the ff series and I must say beating this game seeing the final battle plus cutscene just hit different as a 28yr old I was way more invested than I was and it just made this game feel more special
Somehow I feel the old version of this song is better. I only just listened to that for the second time today, for comparison. I think the volume is just bad here, not sure if it is the video, but fully orchestrated music often has this issue of not properly emphasizing.
@@LunaCorart Yeah, I used to spam Quickenings in my first playthrough since I sucked at optimizing. But on my other playthroughs I almost stopped using them. Berserk cheesing is too good.
@@LunaCorart Even then, they are pretty much free damage whitout any cost other than mist charges in The Zodiac Age. Of course, if you can summon Zeromus, Zordiark and the like, you will do more damage, but Quickenings are safer in case your character gets KO before the summon can pull their ultimate.
One of my absolute favorite pieces of any FF game! Though I definitely prefer the original's music, same with the FFX remaster. They lost some of the soul during translation and reimagining. Here, for example, they're missing the big OOMPH in the transitional part starting at 1:56 from a lack of brass, drums, and accented notes. Brass is very subdued overall in this version and actually kind of clash with each other a bit from 4:30 - 4:50.

I have to agree this track in particular is the most criminally overlooked Final Boss Theme of the FF franchise.
Without a doubt, the best soundtrack for any modern FF game.

Incredible indeed
"Won't Cid be eager to learn what has happened here...History begins anew..."
Sorry to break it to you but he is dead.....oh and you're dead too
i have this game on nintendo switch and at the time in 2007 on the ps2 but that was for me then to extreme but now? its epic!
this plays also on the nintendo ds final fantasy 12.
Finished this game last night for the first time, what a great game
same here lol
Day before yesterday. Third fave entry in the series right after 4 and 8.
I finished it like a week ago.
Fantastic 💕
Great remake (loved the x2 speed feature), although it’s a shame that the game is now even easier than the original game …
It really is one of the best ff games. However it's my second favorite beaten only by ff5

Hitoshi Sakimoto is genius
He should change his name to Eugine Sakimoto. Cause he's a Eugenius.
The best part is the boss theme times well with the cutscene too.
the way this tune drags you through the deepest mud just to lift you up to the sky

Me when Ff12 has sexy bunny girls :
what did he mean by this?
Nice observation. Hellfire from FFXV does the same thing. It's a really cool technique that makes the music so much better as a listener when you notice it.
For as much as i love Vayne as a FF villain i just can't get over the fact that he turned into Broly (and then Mecha Broly) at the end.
He actually turns into a mecha version of Bahamut. Which now that I think about it they'll retake the idea for Caius in FFXIII some years laters XD
I played this for the first time in 2018 yet my nostalgia for this game reminds me of the PS2 days as well. They don't make RPGs like this anymore.
The Zodiac Age remasters are absolutely stellar. Such a massive improvement. Love the actual orchestration too.
Well, for the boss theme I actually prefer the original one
You do know nothing changed for this theme compared to the original.
when that motif hits... it suddenly shifts from hopeless to hopeful. Brilliant!
I love Final Fantasy XII. Everything about it. The world and it's lore. The art and music. Would love to see more of Ivalice.
Tactics and Vagrant Story take place in Ivalice.
@@azazel166 I know!! I hate both games for the PSTV but no controller 😢
And FF XIV for one quest :D

That halfway mark when it kick in. Ugh so good
One of the best OSTs ever made.
From 4:00 it's godly. Still one of my favourite Final boss themes ever even if XII isn't my favourite (that would be IX).
@Joe the Wise ☝🏻 Glad to see someone else put The Extreme as a top 1.

When that brass hits at 4:24 . Just *perfection*

This and ozmoze plains alone make it my favorite FF ost
Ozmone Plains, Skycity Bhujerba, To the Place of the Gods, Dalmasca Estersand, Eruyt Village, Salikawood.

Now this... is.... epic.
I need to say. This is far better and epic than other FF final bosses ost of the saga.
Damn, this game is good. Surprise it isn't talk about as much as games like FF X and FF VI.

The Dissidia NT arrangement of this is great. I much prefer that version.

The funny thing is, at this point in the game mist abilitys are shit, even summons as you can't have your teammates

It's too bad that the fight itself is so easy you barely hear any of this.
WHEN WILL THERE BE A *FINAL FANTASY!?!!??*
I think the final final fantasy is 15 for now
When the sun explodes
@lukeperry3454 you're off by one.
Time to fight Palpatine!!!
