For step 17 (connect wires 6, 7, 8 to to the terminal (B) in each row), did you connect each wire to a single switch? And all in the same column? In the video it looks like you did this in the second row from the left and not on any of the other switches. Does it matter what column you select? Please forgive me if my question is poorly worded, I’m new to electronics and attempting to do this mod on my m9. I think your solution is very elegant but I’m having trouble seeing the details of your wiring and the schematics in the video. Any help is very much appreciated!

Hi if you look at the wiringdiagram it's easy to see the connection. Wires 6,7 and 8 are common signal of each pcb. You connect one side of all the switches to this wire. The wire is RED'ish on the video. The green wires go to switch in each column. Try search for M13 Service Manual or M9 Service manual. Then You can understand the schematic of the switch setup. If You have a multimeter, You can meassure where the originale wires go. (Disconnect the wires from main pcb first). Hope this was what You needed. Good luck on modification.

What is the name of the bit that widens the holes in the switch covers? At time stamp 0:47.

Would you by any chance have access to the M9 diagrams?

Sorry but I don't have the M9 diagrams. Use Google and You might be lucky. Try to seek for the service manual.

Now I get why it's said it isn't a mod for the average DIYer.

Everyone who knows how to use a soldering iron and a hand saw, can do this 😉 Just be careful and precisely.
