As an emotional eater, I can understand your struggle. Do what's best for your physical and mental health. I came across your content on Instagram during COVID, and I love your recipes. But what kept me watching your videos was the comforting feeling and relaxation I experience every time. Keep creating and take care of yourself!

Julia, you are amazing. i've grown up in a household where my parents think mental health isn't really real, and nutrition is just health. Its really effected me, and made me realize that i need to prioritize my well being over what ppl say. Its tough! people judge others beliefs and lives when they dont even know the person! You live ur life girl! take care of yourself! and to all the mean commenters! think please before commenting! if you dont want ppl saying those things about you, dont say them about others!

You love us, but more important you have to love yourself no matter what others think.some people will never be happy with others and that says a lot of how they feel with themselves. So youre doing so grate and your best and seeing you so happy and in tune with yourself is very inspiring to me.❤❤

Before you started talking about it, I was thinking about “the video” and wondered how it may be effecting you and I’m glad you are still being your open and honest self. You encourage me more to talk in therapy about my disordered eating and learn where it comes from. Sometimes I feel ashamed, until I talk to other ppl about it who are compassionate. Thank you x

Thank you, Julia, for being open and vulnerable, not only with the world but also with yourself. No one and nothing can dim the light and high frequency you've created for yourself; that's also something I had to learn - true power means learning not to depend on external sources but to shine from within and find joy by simply being ourselves. Lots of love and positive energy!!

I’ve been dealing with dry scalp and flaking for a year and finally went to the doctor and eventually a dermatologist. Because of having eczema it turned out to be seborric dermatitis. Doing prescription shampoo and also a formula drops for my scalp.

Sulfur and or zinc soap helps my itchy flaky scalp! I can't go more than 3 days without washing my scalp or it gets so itchy! I also use a comb like you do on your scalp to try to get the dead skin and build up off. Doing regular scalp exfoliation with sea salt helps me a lot too. When I had a lot of rosemary in the garden I would make a large batch of strongly strength tea with the rosemary and when it cooled I would pour into ice cube trays to freeze. Once frozen I would pop them out and put into a bag or container to keep in the freezer and the night before washing my hair I would take a few cubes and put in a mug to defrost overnight then use the liquid as a final hair rinse concentrating on my scalp. I wouldn't rinse it out. I hope you get some relief and find something that works for you!

i get terrible dry skin and dandruff on my scalp, it gets so itchy! i personally found oil didn’t really help and the other thing that works for me is medicated shampoo as dandruff can be fungal and this is the only way to kill it off. i also recommend hair drying your hair and not sleeping with it wet

Okay girl for your scalp issue I highly recommend the apple cider vinegar rinse from Just Nutritive. It’s an all natural brand, very trustworthy. Just use an adequate amount of the vinegar rinse in your scalp after shampooing your hair and let it sit for about 2 minutes and helps with all types of scalp issues. It helps sooth inflammation and helps with hair growth. Just try it!! ❤️

Try mixing a tablespoon of baking soda with your shampoo.
Put the desired amount of shampoo in your hand, add the baking soda, and wash your hair with this, i do it for two washings, and it usually helps a lot! Give it a try!

** About the scalp issues, long but helpful**
I struggle with the same scalp issues especially during season changes. I use a tea tree shampoo, and its helped so much, make sure to leave the shampoo on your scalp for at least a minute after scrubbing so it can lift all that dirt and soothe your scalp. On days where I am out and about & don't have time to wash my hair I carry tea tree essential oil and it works WONDERS in a pinch on those super itchy hot spots. I do not recommend the comb method, I used to do that and then my scalp would overproduce oils and make the situation worse. Double cleansing has helped my scalp health as well, first I do the tea tree/clarifying shampoo then go in with my regular shampoo. Also if you use a sulfate/paraben free shampoo make sure to leave that on for at least a minute as well after scrubbing. I hope these tips help 💜

Hello there Julia! I live by coconut oil and tea tree essential oil. I only out a few drops of the tea tree and both of those are anti microbial and antifungal it could be a combo of both things happening and just washing with some Castile soap until it heals, also it’s not that gross at all you’re exfoliating and that’s so necessary to let your scalp breathe!

I’ve been dealing with scalp seborrheic dermatitis most of my life and after trying tons of things I can’t recommend MCT oil enough (you want C8 & C10 type, they sell it on Amazon) If it is seb derm you are dealing with, coconut oil is not recommended (it can feed the yeast) but MCT is safe and actually effective since it’s a more potent anti-fungal and doesn’t contain the yeast-feeding properties. It’s a pain but I do overnight scalp oilings (you could use a shower cap) and wash the next morning. This has been the only way that I’ve visibly seen my scalp flaking less and also itching less!!!

A few drops of tree oil and blow dry your hair. Leaving your hair to air dry can have the opposite effect on a dry scalp!

I would try to make an emollient of some kind that is antifungal, antimicrobial and also helps with moisture. Maybe Coconut oil and lanolin? Lanolin is absolutely a miracle for me. It is a byproduct of soaking shorn wool, so animals are not harmed to make it. You can heat it up to make it more spreadable. I've never tried applying it to my scalp but it works so amazingly everywhere else, I've used it in place of antibiotic ointments even and it heals things rapidly!! Sheep make it to protect their skin from cuts and nicks and tears from heavy wool, as well as keeping them waterproof.

  • @steixeira644

You might have seborrheic dermatitis. You need a medicated shampoo for dry skin and try washing your hair everyday, let dry naturally and never go to bed with your hair wet.

i have had scalp problems for years and tried literally everything lol and i've noticed the biggest triggers for the scalp situation are dry shampoo and letting my hair get too dirty. i have had periods washing every 7-10 days and every single day and im in a sweet spot currently going no more than 3 days between washes. if i go too long even by a day it gets irritated again. humidifiers if u can :)

  • @fleurdepapillon

Be careful with coconut oil! It can actually further dry out some hair types- especially low porosity hair- as it can prevent moisture from reaching the shaft of the hair. Good luck on your hair journey!

I am so sorry if my previous comment was at all insensitive. I too have a history of childhood trauma and a battle with anorexia that began in my teenage years. Like you, my ED was a way of protecting myself and trying to earn love. Loving myself through all of it has been difficult. I am still trying to let that little girl run free. For me, a plant-based diet was a choice I made for health reasons, and believe it has truly healed my relationship with food in so many ways. Yet, I completely understand how it can be a slippery slope into orthorexia. We are all on our own path, and I would be a hypocrite to sit here and judge your personal choices. I know what it is like to feel as though others are peering at you through a microscope and picking apart everything you eat. It is violating, to say the least. So, please know there are so many people who support you and love this channel because of your authenticity. Sending you love ❤️

You may have picked up a fungal issue from the other country. I have a friend who served in Iraq (back when that was going on,) he came back and had picked up a scalp issue where it is always itchy and like nothing works for him. He goes through phases where it's really itchy and then gets a bit better. But there is no cure, unfortunately! Better get yourself checked out to make sure!

It itches bc your pores are clogged. Just wash more often whenever ur itchy its simple. The reason for your hair falling out is also bc ur pores are clogged it happened to me before when i used to not wash my hair so often to protect my "natural oils" but all of that didnt matter. Just wash julia.

I was a vegan for quite some time before switching back to eating more omnivore style. However getting back into eating pretty much everything my scalp started to get really bad. I read that a lot of people are allergic to eggs. I love eggs and didn't want to stop eating it. However I stopped eating eggs for three months and my scalp issue went away completely! I went back to eating eggs to try again and again it came back each time I introduced eggs back into my diet. Now I don't eat it and have not had issues with my scalp. If you are introducing protein, try a little beef as your animal protein source. Just a suggestion.

Re: your discussion on veganism and EDs, as a psychiatric nurse practitioner who treats individuals with severe EDs (and in recovery from an ED myself) , being on ANY kind of restricted diet can be harmful when in recovery. Respecting animals is extremely important and necessary but not at the expense of your own health and mental wellbeing. You preach and practice balance and kindness and I'd argue that's so much more altruistic than using veganism as a way to weaponize you own righteousness . Much love to you and your recovery journey

our problem is not with you going back to a speciest diet, julia. is not your "diet". you do what you want whenever you want. the problem is involving veganism in the middle and blaming an ethical stance for your eating disorder. and this will be pretty much our problem, because we care about something beyond ourselves. soon you'll be a carnivore just because it is "ancestral" and helps the "spiritual". this sucks really.
