I played it because I was aiming for a world record in each category on Speedrun.com,
The offline video works better. The basic chart is much the same as in the video below.

If you want to cut down your time even further, you will have to act on the assumption that generators and safe houses are present.
It is hard to recommend it because it adds a strong element of luck.
That said, there are some good things online, and there are bridges in the valley,
There were some nice miscalculations, such as a bridge in the valley and the use of reinforced battery strikes in the eastern part at the end of the game.
As an introduction to Speedrun, I think you will enjoy it if you start with the Online setting.
