  • :O) with love to the memories-
    Salford song -James Herring 2010
We've seen the roads of shiny cobbled stones,
the crooked shops along the lower road,
could smell the ale from the poets on hot days,
slid down the hills at peel,
if u know how that feels..
    then sing our Salford song.
We've walked the halls of schools that now have gone,
played on the Croft where houses had been bombed,
We've walked along the Irwell's winding banks
that if you've walked along and seen it now with swans,
    then sing our Salford song.
    Salford people's hearts are strong,
    our history is long,
salt of the earth you've always said,
in our hearts and in our heads,
    sing out our song,
if you're salford born and bred.
We've walked each bridge that stitched us to the town,
our sister that wears it's rainy crown
We've seen the paint as I looked through Lowry's eyes,
    he loved our Salford ways,
    with Broughton in his site,
    his canvas nailed us down.
    Salford people's hearts are strong,
    our history is long,
salt of the earth you've always said,
in our hearts and in our heads sing out our song,
if you're Salford born and bred.
