To become better 1st baseman, learn the techniques of proper footwork, positioning at the bag, and the mental preparation to catch anything that comes your way.

What I do is keep both heels on the bag to be able to move in whatever direction a bad throw may be. If it's a perfect straight shot I'll quickly aim my glove and step with my front foot as far as I can go to reach the ball quicker. I also have a 7 foot stretch span. Every centimeter and 10th of a second matters in this sport.
