You really did a spectacular job of showing off my product. For anyone who might be interested, it is actually 50% for the Steam Winter Sale, so now is the time to pick it up. Feedback is greatly appreciated, and there is also a free demo. Like Hera said, there is a link to the store page in the video description, so check it out. As far as the tier list goes, I would have put Saracens at the top of S tier and Franks as the lone F tier civilization 🤣. Joking aside, your tier list videos have always been amazing and have been a source of inspiration for me while I developed my product. When you agreed to use it to make a video, it was like a dream come true, and being the GOAT as you are, it is no surprise how phenomenal the video turned out.
The crossover nobody asked for but the one we deserved
what is this demo how it works
@@dfhy65 On the Steam page for Virtual Touch Screen 2, one of the first buttons on the page is an offer to download the demo.
@@dfhy65 The demo is available on the Steam store page, in the link in the video description.
Seeing a semi-transparent hera staring at me through the back of my screen is terrifying
THIS
Amen
The view that 1600 players have when Hera get matched against him in raked.
He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake.
It’s the Xmas gift I didn’t know I needed. Great tier list video as always 👍🏽
Props to Hera for holding his hand up for 40 minutes.
He’s stronger than a boxer
That must hurt
At the beginning i think u mean this mic as a robot hand lol
@@ns-islandsroblox For sure.
In ice climbing, where you hold pickaxes above you for prolonged periods, people refer to the feeling of repelling back down as the "barfy screamies" - the feeling of the blood rushing back into your extremities. gl hf dd Hera.
If you are being held at gunpoint blink three times.
"How many heras you want?"
"Yes"
2024 will be a weird year.
On the one hand we live in the future with Hera moving stuff around with modern technology
On the other hand mongols are considered S Tier like we have the year 1160.
the transparent hera makes me feel like im looking at my monitors reflection.
i am hera now
A small fun fact, since 2020 there have been 2197 Arabia games on S and A Tier tournaments (well, I have 38 games from 2 B Tier tournaments from 2023 that I was to lazy to filter out and Qualifier are included) from those 2197 there is only one civ with over a 70% win rate on Arabia.
With 17 wins and 7 losses for a 71% win rate, the D tier civ Bulgarians is being dominating tournament Arabia games! (Sicilians being the worst instead of Bulgarians in the tier list kinda ruined a bit the joke XD) even more funny, Hera is the best Bulgarians player with the only one with a 3-0 with them in those 24 games.
With 104 wins and 44 losses for a 70% win rate Hera is the best Arabia player too (well for players with at least more than 10 games on Arabia S and A Tier tournaments games) followed by TheViper with 131 wins and 59 losses for a 69% win rate.
So Hera is clearly trying to take us away from his best secret Arabia civ with this tier list (just in case, this last sentence is 100% a joke)
would love to see the player match ups behind that data. You often see Hera or Viper intentionally picking worse civs in the early rounds for clicks and not showing their strats and winning in spite of the civ.
Maybe correct the civ data for average seed delta.
@@daarom3472 Well I tried to share the link with all the data twice and not sure if it's youtube, a mod or hera himself (my bet is yt) but the message is being deleted, so sadly I can't share the web with all the data.
Tournaments having drafted civ choices greatly affects these numbers, not really a good indicator of their overall strength.
My man got his hands up like he's getting arrested 😂 I like the creativity
Hi Hera,
I rediscovered the game a couple of years ago and kept playing thanks to your videos and cool guides. You are doing a lot for the community. Regards from Spain
So, Hera ranks his own hairline as S tier but his eyebrows only as B tier. A bit of a flex, but sure. I am curious whether Viper also ranks Hera's eyebrows as "Viable" and hairline as "OP".
I certainly agree about his mustache belonging in D tier (Bad). Same as T90's.
Hahahaha

Won't lie, think we need a F tier for T90's mustache, love him but kids run from him at the park with that thing.
@@Kozuu7 To be fair very few men look better in a mustache than without imo.
I've seen a few pull off a mustache when combined with like a light stubble but I would say that is cheating a bit 11

Two Hera, double Fun. Nice :)
Your the man! keep up the good work I love the Passion
Hera just casually posting from the future, like a champ.
Seeing you put Mongols, Persians and Portuguese in S-Tier really explains why they have such a high pick rate overall, because Arabia is the most played map.

@Hera. Could you create a tierlist of naval civiliations? I'm curious how they all stack up. And how the introduction of the Dromon may have changed previous dynamics.
Slavs are an easy S for me. They have literally everything except archers and Navy
It's time for this.
Please make a tier list of good 3v3/4v4 team game civs. A lot of us plays with friends and not to climb the 1v1 ladder. Love the insight btw!
keeping your hands up for the duration of just one AoE2 game would be a challenge
I mean, he did it for the video, didnt he? 40min is probably most AoE2 games.
The most controvesial choice in this tier list is the transparent Hera in the back, I loved it tho
Give us dressed up Hera for Christmas
as always, thanks for the great content! 💪 Can you maybe tell me which AI tool u used for the green lines on your hands? I was looking for something like that 1 year ago but couldnt make it work back then!
I find it really wholesome to show Yahm0n's product and it is an interesting way of doing the video (maybe keep your hands down part of the time or you'll get tired). Also i agree with every civ position and i have a few suggestions to balance some civs:
First with Teutons. I think the effect of garrisoned infantry shooting arrows from crenellations should be given right away as a civ bonus and the other effect of crenellations be like castles and tower firing an extra arrow or something. This is because of Teutons lacking mobility so they need to push slowly and a defensive bonus could help them not being that agresive but also not to weak against speed and range units.
Second is Sicilians. I think the only bonus they'll need is every farm upgrade gives farmers a 4% up farming rate, this bonus should help them going through their rough feudal and early castle age, in feudal helping them going for food units or faster castle age, in castle they'll be almost with slavs with only a 2% difference that would help them in getting to serjeants or knights and finally in Imp they'll have the best late game farming eco making them have the possibility of spaming trash units or asserting dominance with resistant (to damage and conversion) Cavalier as long as they have relics.
Finally for cumans. I think most of the people think tweaking cumans is difficult because at lower ELO they're a broken civ, but i think part of the things that make them strong in different ELOs are the key to balance them. First i think moving their cav speed bonus one age earlier is necessary, because faster exploration is good to finding your next TC position or a good place to rampush and in feudal you're automatically on pair with husbandry civs but for free so it is not so strong for lower ELO that doesn't micro a lot and also trend to autoscout. Second tweak is that 2nd tc builts at normal speed if its not further n tiles away from the original TC and as long it hasn't been rebuilt. This is because the main reason of slowing second TC building time was for avoiding douche, making games messy for the opponent while you're booming without being punished, but doing it at home also means youre spending a big amount of wood for feudal economy and the timing could also make it awkard because it could still be affected by tower rushing. So making it built at normal speed in... let's say fifteen or twelve tiles away from original TC can avoid these two problems because even for 2000ELO its not even an OP eco bonus because you still have to balance it and if you're creating vills from both, you have no chance going for army immediately and thats where it can be punished so you have to keep 1 tc production and 2nd tc idle to balance making eco and army at least in early and mid feudal.
Another tweak is giving them bracer as kipchak aren't even better than Mangudai so bracer will incentive players to play them more often and its not that OP because is a late game technology and doesn't affect Cumans peak strength wich is late feudal to early and mid castle age.
Finally the last bonus is adding that on top of the -75 wood on archery range and stable, adding that barracks and siege workshop cost -25 or -20 wood. As i said Cumans bonus are great but it came with a lot of wood spending and one of the reasons because ram push is not seen that often at least in arabia is because it coasts a tremendous amount of wood to get, i mean a ram is 160 wood, plus Siege workshop is 360, but siege also requires blacksmith so it increases to 560 and finally you want to protect that ram so even if you're going for infantry only that's 735 wood without adding farms and houses so that is impossible to afford in early and middle feudal, even more if you are going for 2nd TC so maybe -50 wood is not a great savings but it helps more in timing of getting those buildings up.
Those are my thinking's i dunno what you guys think.
Hera does a tier list at gun point lol
Can you do an arena team game tier list?!
Hera, you enjoyed this in the palm of your hands joke way to much
Nice
Thanks Hera! You are one of the best 2024 gifts
I love how the tiers are balanced, there's no 15 civs in s tier

I came for the info. I stayed for the Green hands 🤗
I love this shit, very informative video as usual but with a cool gimmick that's also showing off the hard work of another community member. Great stuff Hera!
But yeah, seeing big background Hera staring into my soul is giving me strange feelings.
Are you sure about Hindustanis ? According to aoestats they became rank 1 in all elo ranges with the slight buff they got. It seems that getting cheaper vils is an insane bonus according to stats. That's also why they used to be number 1 back then.
I love playing Ethiopians, but they feel anti-synergistic sometimes. They're an archer civ, but they get food from aging up, which you can't use for archers. You can use that food for fast castling, but even then you tipically don't fast castle specifically for crossbows. The bonus gold and food would be good to both get a fast castle and to get your knights on the field quickly, but they don't have bloodlines. Their main eco bonus is good for aggression, but their best units are low mobility.
Currently I like to start with archers and an early blacksmith, the bonus resources are convenient to get fletching basically right away at least. And bodkin arrow by castle age. If I don't end by early castle, though, I stay on the back foot for the rest of the game unless I can make it to Torsion Engines Siege Onagers point, however, even when games make it there, I'm on a timer before I run out of gold.
I want to experiment more with fast castle, particularly if I'm against scouts, as I can imagine how brutal it can be to turn around a cavalry aggression when you get pikemen right as you age up.
Oh and by the way, oblicatory fast attacking arbalest+torsion engines siege onagers deathball reference.
That's basically what Hera said. They either win with their archer power spikes or they fall behind, I don't see anything unsinergistic with that, you can even keep the aggression going with a siege forward and pikes.
Early food is great for archer play because it makes affording Fletching and one archer in feudal super easy (So you can go on gold a bit later and only put 3), and Crossbow Bodkin in Castle is a lot smoother.
Even in an FC situation it means they can not send vils to gold at all and still have a free Monk.
If they played cavalry it would be a lot worse of a bonus because Knights need a bigger economy to sustain them and a 200 res powerspike doesn't help that.
39:17 no ones gonna mention how he gave malay the malians free infranty armor upgrade?
As always I go to the end of the video, then watch individual civs. Anyone else?
Did Teutons get the new monk technology? So now their knights resist even more plus having +1 in castle age.
yea they did. Teutons very underrated. IMO at least A tier. By mid castle age assuming you made a total of 30ish farms you've already saved 1200*0.4 = 480 wood. Over the course of the game it can easily add up to 1-2K wood saved.
Free murder holes and herbal medicine is great. The melee armor makes your knights stronger than most knights as well. Near impossible to be raided as well.
@@daarom3472 Defensively they always been one of the strongest, this list is based mostly with the top players though. No husbandry is what always hurt them at high level. Their knights are amazing when they can force the fight in 1 spot but struggle against mobile units like ca that can hit n run.
Hello to all the people reading comments while watching the video. Since Hera is random picking civs, you can play a mini game of guessing what the next civ he will pick.
I have a question about the AOE2 vocabulary... what does a civ player mean? For example, Hera said that the person that designed that software/equipment is a Saracen player. It's not the first time I've heard that term. I've also heard that term from Spirit of the Law🤔
"new pathing" is a thing
only in AoE2
Thank you for the Video and your work! A little feedback to the new technology: for me as an ADHD-person, it is very hard to follow what you say when so much is going on on the screen. I was a little bit overstimulated and couldn't finish watching your video. I understand that it provides a lot of benefit to others, but for me, it made it impossible to watch the video unfortunately. I thought it might be of interest to you! Thanks again for your work and merry Christmas my friend! ❤
You can always turn your screen away and listen to it as a podcast
Improvise adapt overcome
Huns being C-Tier on Arabia hurts
Burgundians are definitely B tier. I’ve had lots of success with them
Burmese and Dravidans together seems so fitting
Bulgarians when you random... made even worse when your allies on B.F. don't even get BBCs or any other good countre siege.
Persian Castles against even Mayan Eagle spams now that the unique tech countres infantry (castles even did good damage before), but yes Savar versus Eagles with cheap archers if you need to snipe pikes (given the archer line's innate anti-spear damage) and really the only thing they reliably miss is 'Siege Engineers'. So agreed that they're ahead... also you tricked at the start with Saracens - randomised the civ pick-order, yet stuck to the start of the alphabet mostly.
Haha, then you say Berbers die to anti-cav stuff then put them just above the 40 bonus damage Halbs of Bohemians (and those food costing monks). I guess the cheap cav countre the weaker Hussite Wagons however.
Dont sleep on Korean late game. They have the arguably cheaper trash than byzantines. Costs around the same total resources but with less emphasis on wood, which becomes more valuable in trash wars than food
Is it necessary to keep your hands up all the time to this mechanism to work?
On a more serious note, it seems really crazy how Poles got rated A on 1v1 Arabia just year ago.
While seemingly noting had changed for the civ itself?
So what's the deal?
@@14augustneverforget Doesn't seem like Ethiopians got any real buffs since December 2022, and yet they are above Poles while they were below.
Probably some inconsistency, or Hera just changed his mind, Poles do seem to be performing rather poorly on high ELO now.
don't forget map script changes. alot of civs that prefer comfy bases with walls are in the bottom parts of arabia tier lists now
I feel like it's kind of a mixture between some pretty hard nerfs, changes to the Arabia maps, general power creep and just people figuring out how to counter them.
They got pretty significant nerfs to bot the stone minors generating gold and instant Folwork food, which slowed down their overall smooth gameplay.
Arabia is generally more open now and has more hills, which makes it harder to play purely defensive and place good Folworks.
We had like 3 of the biggest patches this year and a lot of civs got buffed, pulling some of the former top tiers back down.
And everyone and their mom knows that Poles get a big power spike with Slachzta, so you try to harass them as much as possible and have counters ready the moment they start spamming knights.
They are still great if you get to that mid - late game, but they aren't as smooth and overwhelming as they used to be.
Oh cool program! I feel like I could kick your ass in aoe2 like that, maybe I even have a chance at beating you if you use your full two hands!
Ghostly Hera lookin like Jacob Marley, haunting us right before Christmas.
Weird how many civs are rated behind Bengalis and Dravidians on Arabia. What does Bengalis do better than Burgundians for example? The two vills bonus?
please make a "best nomad civilizations", i want to hear your opinion on nomad maps
😂 For the past month ive been using only Sicilians on Arabia and most maps and using the Dungeon rush in Castle age. Went from 1150 to 1350 elo. The weakness is archer rush in feudal but its really hard to counter. Mayan and brittons have been my only losts in 15 Games.
Day 11 of asking Hera to do Wolf Rush strat
I just want to quickly point out that Goths can just make forward Barracks in Dark Age, and then very quickly push with 3-4 MAA and starting Scout, and if the enemy wants to counter (you want to attack houses/walls and occassional villagers to apply pressure), then 1-2 Archers just isn't enough, they have to invest wood into Barracks, Archery Range, then Archers, and probably also Fletching. That's a ton of resources to spend if you wanted to go something else, and on my level (~1100 on Arabia) I really felt MAA pushes to be almost uncounterable, even against Malay Elephants (just add Spearmen). Basically the only real way my enemies had to stop good MAA push and come alive from it was to go FC, and the thing is, I don't care because then I just go fast Imp and take Huskarls + Halberdiers or Hand Cannoneers and it's GG more times than not. So MAA pushes on lower levels aren't actually bad if done quickly enough with a good balance.
My fav civs thematically are knights & infrantry european civs. I love Teutons and Sicilians but they are kinda lacking. Seeing them at the bottom is kinda sad.
Do you recommend any civs that fit the description but are better? Are Armenian a good infrantry civ or are they kinda meh?
I'm talking around 1200-1300 elo so no highplay
Try slavs bro, they got some nice eco boost for that too. And an amazing uu in late game if you got gold
@@steelyr5466 Are vikings good? Maybe archer opening into berserk transition?
@@Sisstra Yeah that could work but might be difficult to pull off. You'll need a castle, upgrades from barracks and blacksmith, food which you usually don't focus on as archers and time to get the ball rolling. It could work but you really need to plan ahead and try to make it smooth. Transitioning into a different unit smoothly is often very difficult. Even when i watch viper or Hera play, they often say: Ah i should have made this unit, or i should have made this unit earlier. Recognizing when to switch is very difficult and a pain in the ass to do often
but the viking eco bonus does help with that a lot. But i think you should keep the archer production going or you''ll lose all momentum during the transtition@@Sisstra
@@steelyr5466 What do you think of Romans? I also like them very much
Hands up!
*accidentally puts Bulgarians in S tier 😂
Odd question, do you think meso civs are inflated by the fact they're comparatively rare?
Here's my thought process: I was a competitive fencer many years back, and everyone hated going up against left-handed folks, cuz it changed how the sport was fundamentally played - which is fine - but being a minority, they had a TON of practice against right-handers, and right-handers had far less practice against left-handers. Being left-handed was just an advantage.
Now, it's not totally the same, because meso civs are always picked less, but the thought kinda stands.
If meso civs were 50% of the pool, would people feel more comfortable playing against them and their average winrate go down, I wonder?
The American civs are, to some extent, all buffed and nerfed together, much like the Step Lancer civs or the Elephant Archer civs. Back when Step Lancers were broken, all civs that had access to them were pretty good as a result. If Elephant Archers were suddenly a unit worth making almost every game, then those civilizations would suddenly jump up several tiers. Eagles are a unit on par with Knights and Archers and will probably feature in most games that at least one side has access to them. As a result, American civs are good.
@@beaky8138 That's a really solid point too! Thanks for the input!
It's very strange to have your head in the background + the cam
So this is what a student feel when the teacher is just staring at them during the exam.
Hera does not give TheViper the benefit of TheDauT.
😂 i like you but the background Hera is too much. It’s hard to watch 😅
Sicilians need a lot of work. Imho, after extensive modding, i've found that Sicilians feel really good with the following changes..
1.) Civ bonus damage resistance at 45%
2.) Hauberk now works like opposite Shrivamsha feature, blocks melee attacks instead of dodging ranged attacks
3.) Serjeants reworked ; bit higher cost, bit longer train time, bit slower Donjon build time, but has new attack feature a fraction of its damage is armor piercing, Elite version has hidden resistances that makes their anti-counter bonus operate more at the 55-60% range
4.) Gain Fortified Wall
5.) Gain Heresy
Turks need hellebardiers or dlite skirms. Late game so bad.
!Bulgarians
This tierlist is so confusing. Is it meant for the super pros or mid elo players?, 3 vill start or 9 vill start?, easy wall version of Arabia like in T90 events or open version of Arabia like Memb events? For super pro games, the type of map and conditions for Burgundians and Poles to be good is the same needed for Georgians. Passive map where they can boom by spending on churches instead of folwarks and spam cheap cavalry unit. Otherwise Georgians start with -50 food, have negligible benefit till castle age and will easily fall behind. By the same justification given to Burgundians and Poles, Georgians are an easy C tier imo. Monaspas are cheap and good but so are Coustillier and Obuchs. It just feels like a "New is OP" perspective for Georgians.
Out of the remaining civs, I'd put Franks, Malians, Hindustanis, Chinese, Byzantines and Britons a tier above where you've placed them and Goths, Italians a tier below.
No WAYYYY BULGARIANS IS D TIER mamammamamamamamammamamamamamamamamaaaaaaaaaaaaaa😢😢😢😢😢
