  • This particular male was first seen in 2014 as a 3-4 year old in a area referred to the Burstall Pass, and because of that i named him "Burt". Not yet a dominant contender he chose this middle ground to avoid conflict with bigger males in the places with better food sources. Each spring I'd see him venture east to the front country to find a suitable mate. It seemed like every season he was pairing up with a female the same age, who had yet to reach sexual maturity that would allow her to have cubs. Finally after mating with her in 2018, she emerged in 2019 with two cubs.
    You could every spring he was a little bit bigger, and really filling out to become "the bear" in terms of hierarchy and the right to mate. At the end of the video you can see from the images supplied, he has become a massive and gorgeous male bear. With him pairing up with his favorite girl yet again this May, and with her recently booting her two three year old cubs who actually are most likely his, there's a great chance in 2023 she will have new babies belonging to Burt.
    Enjoy this video and many more at ‪@TheBearGuyCanada‬ , thank you!

      I was in some bushes with a grizz this year. I had no idea he was there, I'm pretty sure he knew I was though. He was downwind and had to be close. I would have never known he was there except I backtracked and found his prints which weren't there 5 minutes before. He eventually popped out at me about 50 feet ahead and proceeded to leave, crossing a river. I think human-bear encounters are far more common than we believe. Especially in black bear country in the U.S. so many near, so few attacks.

      They will also eat other grizzly Cubs if the mother can’t defend them.
      Even though smaller, female bears have evolved to go crazy when with Cubs and chase off large males.

      I hope hunting bears will become a highly punished crime. There are only a really really few cases where I agree that using a firearm is ok ( a bear comes inside your house where your children are inside with highly aggressive behavior) or some really extreme life to life situations.
      They are so majestic and for the most part chill if you keep your distance.

      No bears will be killed. Humans and bears can co-exist. This is proof. And bears do actually need to be hunted to some degree otherwise other forms of wildlife and their numbers will go down too much. Grizzly bears and wolves have no predators other than man. Hunting has its place. Most people that live in British Columbia understand this. Its funny to us when reading some of these comments. Yes they're beautiful but so are Elk and if wolves and bears are never hunted the elk populations will suffer.

      @TheBearGuyCanada  2 года назад +6

      He's becoming the dominant bear where younger males will leave the area and avoid any conflict with him, he's earned his space and has every bear's respect. He is entering his prime, where he no longer has to fight or contend, where he gets to choose who he mates with, and gets the best of food sources. But he is also getting to the size and having such a commanding presense that younger immature females ( sub adult age) will also fear him during the mating season and will actually run from him.

I love bears myself and wouldn't be mingling around them either but I watch videos like this to learn about bears just for my enjoyment I find them very peaceful , like watching wild elephants. Personally, I wouldn't go on a jungle safari as that's a lot of infringement on the animals territory. I believe people should just leave bears alone, don't feed them, don't interact but sometimes people have to, in order to keep them safe and that should be done like people such as this guy. He studies them, keeps them safe, and respects their boundaries. Go fly a kite someone else....
