I think Toyota/Lexus really hit the nail on the head of the 2024 GX 550. From the Styling, Ride Quality, Performance, Tech Package and Off-Road capabilities, you really can't ask for a more complete package.
If you need a 3rd row alllll the time and you don't want to (or can't) spend Suburban/Escalade/Expedition/Navigator money, buy a minivan. If you need a 3rd row rarely and for short drives, this is fine. If people are looking exclusively to mid-sized SUVs for their 3rd row needs, they are likely either uninformed or more focused on image than substance (both show they don't really care much about their own money). Sure, there could be some edge cases where a 3 row luxury mid-size SUV is the best choice, but I can't think of any. The Overtrail is def the best trim for the new GX.
Agree. If you need a 3rd row all the time don’t get this. If you’re a mom/dad and drop off only. Get an awd minivan. This is a nice mix. I’ve a dedicated off-roader, daily driver. And 2seater fun car. The GX tho is a pretty good impressive one car so most of it all.
I’m married and have two kids. Would love to get the overtrail, BUT we do go out for events/dinner/day trips with my mom occasionally. We need the optional 3rd row. I don’t want a minivan for the 5% of the time my mom is with us and our family doesn’t need a large SUV. Even if we did go to the beach or a long a drive, we will be the cargo pod for the roof. The GX 550 premium plus (with captain chairs) would fit our needs/wants perfectly.
Why do you think Overtrail is best? Solely for the off-road advantage or anything else? I would only use it for pavement. Very rare will I use it for off road.
Such a great design, love the boxiness. In my opinion the grille is way too busy with all the plastic slats. The shape is nice, but it needs less slats and more simplicity.
The front is too angry looking especially in lighter colors where the grill stick out and honestly- the tow hitch cover is hideous - new Land Cruiser looks better overall.
Great video! 3rd row is a game changer for 2 more seats in the back. As a mom of 3, kids like to have friends over and you need the seat option. I was thrilled to see 3 rows. I’ll probably use with on seat down for sports bags etc.
I swear no one cares about gas mileage especially with the way people drive in this country, premium gas is cheap when you’re buying at this price point in the first place.
It does crack me up tho. Seeing some dude making 150 a yr driving a 80k truck and driving 90!! Pissing away all his relative money and having shit to live on retire in……..

@@dwnshftthanks. Agreed but the ML is not available as an option on the premium +. I’m starting to think the $8000 up charge to the luxury model to get massaging seats that you have to go through five menus to get to along with puddle lights and larger wheels aren’t really worth the $8000 premium. Then pay $1180 for the ML. I’m thinking if I can delay till 2025 they may have more options.
Might want a Lexus? Land Rovers are the most unreliable vehicles excluding India, Italy (AKA Dodge), and France… sorry but I can’t afford a second Range Rover while they repair the other one… and Mercedes… or Audi… Cadillac/GM.
Big ignorant internet lie - The engines that were affected were different lots than these and stopped at 2023. Toyota isn't pumping out the same issues that they fixed and are dealing with in the current recall for some Tundras and a few Lexus LX 600s from 2-3 years ago. Get real.
Premium gas only cost 0.60 cents more per gallon than regular gas (even more cheaper at Costco). If someone is buying a $80k+ vehicle, they not worried about 0.60 cents extra.
@@ucd3658 what? Detergents have nothing to do with the demands of the engine and has no effect on how an engine runs. What you're paying for in premium gas is the higher octane level of the gas. The manufacturer designs the engine to run optimally on higher octane gas and cannot guarantee it will run as well on lower octane gas and sometimes even advise against using it and possibly void the warranty if low octane gas found in their engines. Some of the reasons being how the higher octane gas combusts better than the lower octane gas which can prevent knocking, increase response time, etc. That's why higher demand engines like planes, jets, premium cars require more expensive fuel.
@@BHabe-m1j modern engines are designed to take cheap fuel. They’ll adjust the combustion if the sensor senses 87. Now I say detergent because it used to be the expensive stuff was better or cleaner for the engine. But u are right, higher octane fuel does regulate better in terms of combustion. But I want to add …in terms of combusting. The 87 is actually more sparky hence the knocking. We get pre combustion
@@ucd3658 understood, but it's not true all modern engines take all gas. Some higher performance or premium cars strictly prohibit lower octane gas and have warnings of using lower octane gas right on the gas cap or cover. I remember the BMW had that. Lower octane ran, but caused knocking and sluggish performance and low mpg. Long story short, if your car says use premium gas, use premium gas. It's what it was designed for.

I wish the overtrail had overhead air vents. Only the luxury and premium do.
Why is the camera guy inserting his muffled voice into the host’s walk-through?
The host needed no help with his words...hopefully lesson learned.

Why all reviewers/GX brochure said GX550 can tow at 9,000 LB, however, Lexus specification website shows 8,000 lbs. A bit confuse!
