This fundamental skill was excellent. I love how you explained the "triangle choke." The Sankaku Jime instruction was clear and easy to follow. Thank you for posting.

Good Judo newaza guys are fascinating and make a lot of sense to me coming from a Traditional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu/10th Planet Jiu-jitsu perspective. Love Judo.
+Tomás Martínez Roeske Thanks for your comment. We believe in cross-training and are pleased that what we provide on our channel is helpful to you. Thanks for watching and please tell others about our channel.
This video is fantastic. I practiced and competed in Judo from 2004-2007 and am just getting back into the art now. This used to be one of my go to chokes based on my physiology (I have long legs). Thanks again.
Always had problems rolling to my right if I had strong or bigger opponent even if I hooked his arm. Will try what your mate says and roll to the corner rather than to side. Love your work team.
Amazing breakdown! I just discovered transition from Kuzure Kesa Gatame to Sankaku Jime is also available to me by just watching this video. I'm going to explore them on the mat. Thank you for sharing. ARIGATO!!! 🥋
Kimo Ayesha, thanks for your comment and I agree. Maybe it's because we are not primarily a BJJ channel or primarily just a Judo channel-I don't know. Please tell others about our channel and get the word out to everyone you know.
I am unsure what the IJF rules permit. This would be allowed in any grappling sport other than the IJF, including Freestyle Judo rules, to the best of my knowledge. It's a shame because this move is a classic example of how to do a Sankaku Jime from Judo. It's been used for years in the sport, but with the new IJF rules, I am unsure if it is permitted.
@@welcomematstevescott sensei, I think you misunderstood my question. My question is would it be legal to counter the sankaku jime by sweeping Tori's foot and pushing him off balance while he has one knee on the ground and preparing to apply the technique
Great instuctional! So my wife and i were rolling and she locks me in a sankaku twice in a row,im like what the hell lol Then tells me about your vid haha Shes eager to start Judo as she is in bjj for a year now
That's good to hear Sam. Reminds me of my wife when she was working out. She used to love to get me in one of her lapel strangles. I'm glad she's benefitted from watching our videos!
welcomematstevescott haha yup she like this one better than the traditional bjj triangle where you can get slammed and such.It was the first time ive been caught in sankaku i was really shocked how well it worked even as a pin.
That's good to hear. You are right, the Sankaku Gatame (Triangle Pin) is effective. I am pretty sure we have a video on that pin on our channel, so you might want to search for it on our playlists. Thanks for the comments!
welcomematstevescott Thanks that vid you sent was great!!Exactly what my wife and i were talking about. When she had me in it the first time she was like i think i could keep you pinned all day with this one.So many opitions during transition aswell. Thanks again!

Great stuff very similar to the moves Asa Akira did against multiple opponents.
I love that Triangle from Scarf hold position, can't wait to try it out on the mat.
+Justin Moody Great to hear that. Let me know if you like it and if you have any variations on it that work for you.
My god this is like a triangle workshop

"if it's not tight ,it's not right" :)
You are 100% correct!
Also...."if it doesn't work in a fight its not right" (either)

That sounds like it would be permitted in any set of Judo contest rules. I would say to give it a try.
@@welcomematstevescott my sensei said we could discuss and try it!
Love the video but I will admit, Brazilian jiu-jitsu has a few more steps to ensure it’s tight when doing it live! Love it tho
Thanks for your comment-always welcome!
