Daniel Ueblacker you can import your song into ‘files’ app on your iPhone and then use the method in this video. Instead of going to iTunes just go to files tab.
dude otherwise you need to open iTunes on your laptop and trim the song in that, this is a good workaround that. Trust me I have done that in the past.
He’s not using it.. what he means is that you either need to put it on your phone through itunes (aka stealing a song). This seems to only work with purchased music. I just made a ringtone with a song I purchased from iTunes Store app on my phone. No computer needed.

You can easily download files from the Safari browser on your phone, save it to iCloud and then when clicking the circular loop button in Garageband, look for 'Files' then click browse files and you should see the downloaded MP3 and you can still export it as a ringtone :)

Also, there is a volume slider on the left hand side of the screen when you’re editing your ringtone. Just swipe to the right from left side of the screen to reveal volume levels. Easy to follow--I made one ringtone on my iPhone 12 Pro, but now I can't get back to the beginning screen to make another. I can swipe to the Home screen and the app icon, I press on it but no useful choices there. Powering off/on the phone doesn't clear it either. I can't get back to square one.

Don't have the music option, but was able to make it work with the great instructions. Just email yourself the songs and hold in 'Files' section, and grab from there.
My ringtone isn’t working...It either vibrates or is silent. I already went through the settings/ checked “do not disturb” etc. How do I fix it ? I made sure the volume on the mic was turned up all the way...Still no sound.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I actually used an audio file that I had in files folder. I wanted a specific 4 seconds of dialogue from a TV show to use as a txt tone. I found the video clip online, used screen recording to record that bit of video (I wanted the video file as well). Opened that in iMovie and trimmed video. Saved video. Used shortcuts to separate audio into an audio file. I used files to move audio file into GarageBand folder and followed your PERFECT instructions. Worked a treat! Now I have it assigned as a certain contacts txt tone. It’s Tuco Salamanca saying “Alright, we gonna make a laaaatta money together”. 🤑🤑
I’m 12, and my iPod touch is the only Apple product in this house, so my parents won’t pay for iTunes,(I didn’t ask them, bc I knew they would say no) if nobody else is going to use it. If u don’t have iTunes 1. Go to safari and type MP3 juice it’s the first one that pops up and (to double check it baby blue). 2. Type and download ur song make sure to press download twice. 3 follow his Tutorial up until where he tells u to press the circular loop icon button at 0:52 and where he tells u to press music. 3. Instead press files and click browse items from the files app and ur song will be there 4. At 1:02 Follow the rest of his tutorial. There is a ringtone volume slider while you're editing ringtone in GarageBand. Just swipe to the right from left edge of the screen to find that volume slider. Make it full. Yes you can. First create as many ringtones as you want using this method. Then to go each contact, tap EDIT and then assign custom ringtones to each contact. 😊

Pretty cool! The title says without iTunes but from what you’ve presented.. it seems that this requires first adding music to the phone with iTunes.🙂 still useful and I’m going to try it! Just upgraded my iPhone, so it’s a clean slate.
Then add that music to FILES app and browse FILES app insider GarageBand to import that song and make a ringtone. But I’d suggest better tutorial for you. Checkout “set any iPhone song as a ringtone” tutorial on my channel, playlist number 5. This will allow you to use any latest online song and make a ringtone. No need to add song to iPhone anymore. 😊
Basically, there are only two ways of making ringtone on iPhone, one is using iTunes and another is without iTunes (using GarageBand app). In both the cases you’ll need a song. But I have made a separate tutorial on my channel playlist number 5 which doesn’t require song on iPhone. You can use any online song and make as ringtone. Title of the video is “set any iPhone song as a ringtone” I want you to try that method. 😅

Thanks this was very helpful. Another trick. I played a song on my iPad and use the voice recorder on my phone to record the song. Save in my files then open in garage band😊😊😊😊
That's clever. You can also screen record song on your iPhone, convert video to mp3 using any app from App Store and save that MP3 to Files app. Now proceed making ringtone on GarageBand. Fabulous thank you! The only different thing I found is that 15 bars = 30 seconds, so anything after that doesn’t become part of the ring tone. But otherwise great instructions.
It worked but the ringtone has no sound? It shows in my ringtone list, I assigned it as the default ringtone. But when you click on it, no sound. I called cell from different phone, no ringtone. Nothing. Deleted it. Repeated as per instructions. No sound at all. Shows up in ringtones list, but has no sound.
Hey, there is volume setting in GarageBand. When you’re editing your ringtone, there is a sidebar on the left hand side. You want to click on it. Now mic icon will reveal. Make sure volume is 100% Now this time your ringtone should have a volume 😊

To anyone who is having trouble achieving all the steps, but it only vibrates or stays silent when you try to set it as your ringtone: Be sure to drag the bar you edit all the way back to the begging of the track. Make sure it’s on the edge (near the side bar on the left). You should have sound after re-saving it. 👌🏽

Hi, when you’re editing ringtone in GarageBand, there is MIC icon on the left hand side. You want to slide on the left to reveal AUDIO RECORDER level. Make sure it is 100%. And then edit and set your ringtone. Let me know what happens.😄 Also, if you have face ID on your iPhone, it silences iPhone ringtone when you look at your screen. Also check if this is causing your ringtone to go silent 😄

You’ll need a DRM free song to make a ringtone. Which you can add from your computer, if you have these songs on your computer. OR else you can try third party apps from AppStore for free ringtones. OR If you wish, you can visit my channel and checkout the playlist number 5 for a separate tutorial ‘set any iPhone song as a ringtone’. This doesn’t need song on iPhone. If you have Apple Music you can record the song or audio off of something else (tv, other phone) and then make it a ringtone in the same way

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I actually used an audio file that I had in files folder. I wanted a specific 4 seconds of dialogue from a TV show to use as a txt tone. I found the video clip online, used screen recording to record that bit of video (I wanted the video file as well). Opened that in iMovie and trimmed video. Saved video. Used shortcuts to separate audio into an audio file. I used files to move audio file into GarageBand folder and followed your PERFECT instructions. Worked a treat! Now I have it assigned as a certain contacts txt tone. It’s Tuco Salamanca saying “Alright, we gonna make a laaaatta money together”. 🤑🤑

I’m 12, and my iPod touch is the only Apple product in this house, so my parents won’t pay for iTunes,(I didn’t ask them, bc I knew they would say no) if nobody else is going to use it. I was very disappointed when I found out you have to have iTunes to pick another song as my alarm and ringtone, this seems very helpful, I’m waiting for GarageBand to download Rn. Thank you.

If u don’t have iTunes
1. Go to safari and type MP3 juice it’s the first one that pops up and (to double check it baby blue).
2. Type and download ur song make sure to press download twice.
3 follow his Tutorial up until where he tells u to press the circular loop icon button at 0:52 and where he tells u to press music.
3. Instead press files and click browse items from the files app and ur song will be there
4. At 1:02 Follow the rest of his tutorial.

You want tap on the song to reveal handles. Now hold the handles and move it to the portion of the song where you want the ringtone to start 😊

There is a ringtone volume slider while you're editing ringtone in GarageBand. Just swipe to the right from left edge of the screen to find that volume slider. Make it full. Yes you can. First create as many ringtones as you want using this method.

What if you’ve added music to your iPhone without iTunes?
Then add that music to FILES app and browse FILES app insider GarageBand to import that song and make a ringtone.
But I’d suggest better tutorial for you.

Basically, there are only two ways of making ringtone on iPhone, one is using iTunes and another is without iTunes (using GarageBand app).
In both the cases you’ll need a song.
But I have made a separate tutorial on my channel playlist number 5 which doesn’t require song on iPhone. You can use any online song and make as ringtone. Title of the video is “set any iPhone song as a ringtone”
I want you to try that method. 😅

Thanks this was very helpful. Another trick. I played a song on my iPad and use the voice recorder on my phone to record the song. Save in my files then open in garage band😊😊😊😊
That's clever. You can also screen record song on your iPhone, convert video to mp3 using any app from App Store and save that MP3 to Files app.
Now proceed making ringtone on GarageBand.

Fabulous thank you! The only different thing I found is that 15 bars = 30 seconds, so anything after that doesn’t become part of the ring tone. But otherwise great instructions.
It worked but the ringtone has no sound? It shows in my ringtone list, I assigned it as the default ringtone. But when you click on it, no sound. I called cell from different phone, no ringtone. Nothing.
Deleted it. Repeated as per instructions. No sound at all. Shows up in ringtones list, but has no sound.
Hey, there is volume setting in GarageBand.
When you’re editing your ringtone, there is a sidebar on the left hand side. You want to click on it. Now mic icon will reveal. Make sure volume is 100%
Now this time your ringtone should have a volume 😊

To anyone who is having trouble achieving all the steps, but it only vibrates or stays silent when you try to set it as your ringtone: Be sure to drag the bar you edit all the way back to the begging of the track. Make sure it’s on the edge (near the side bar on the left). You should have sound after re-saving it. 👌🏽

Hi, when you’re editing ringtone in GarageBand, there is MIC icon on the left hand side. You want to slide on the left to reveal AUDIO RECORDER level. Make sure it is 100%. And then edit and set your ringtone.

Also, if you have face ID on your iPhone, it silences iPhone ringtone when you look at your screen.
Also check if this is causing your ringtone to go silent 😄

Hey Friend, make sure you drag the ringtone to the far left of the screen while editing your ringtone. If there is a blank space at the beginning, ringtone will not sound properly.
Also, there is a volume slider on the left hand side of the screen when you’re editing your ringtone. Just swipe to the right from left side of the screen to reveal volume levels. Make sure it is set to high.

It’s because, the song you’re trying with must be an Apple Music. These songs are DRM protected and Apple doesn’t allow making ringtone out of these song to avoid piracy issues.
You’ll need a DRM free song to make a ringtone.
Which you can add from your computer, if you have these songs on your computer.
OR else you can try third party apps from AppStore for free ringtones.
OR
If you wish, you can visit my channel and checkout the playlist number 5 for a separate tutorial ‘set any iPhone song as a ringtone’.
This doesn’t need song on iPhone. You can use songs from internet.
