  • To contrast with water, I want the sand to hold its shape better after manipulation. Because of the large timesteps, elasticity has to be higher than it should to hold the shape against gravity.

This would be so fun to play with in vr, amazing!

Yeah VR is something I really want to get working at some point. Hand tracking support would be amazing, watching the sand (or water) sift through. Still some physics features I’m working on, then some renderer optimization

Amazing that you can accomplish this with FPS that high!

2:02 looks like a great idea for some kind of boss npc. Epic

Based on what I've seen so far, the sand material seems to behave closer to dirt (or more like wet sand) with the way that it clumps up. Maybe it has to do with the size of the particles? I couldn't tell you since I don't really have any experience with fluid simulation.

Yeah, I was thinking about gameplay, and I wanted to give either the earth or sand an extra different feel from the water. Like I wanted it to hold its shape and for that I had to turn up the elasticity. Maybe the timestep is also too large because it makes things extra jiggly and jelly looking.

that really moves a lot like mud to me, or maybe dough or tofu at points

Yeah, still not fully satisfied with my sand either. Seems a bit difficult to simulate at larger timesteps.

you could maybe try to make some shorts out of this amazing content, maybe then you would get more views ...
