BYU fan here! One note on the cougars rushing attack, LJ Martin, our RB1 has missed significant time this year, including most of the SMU game, all of the Baylor, Kansas State, and Wyoming games, and was on a pitch count vs Arizona. And if you compare his stats to Devin Neal’s he has half the yards, TDs, and carries, at the same YPC. He hasn’t been as durable as Neal, but when he’s on the field he’s been just as efficient this season (without playing a cupcake Wyoming team). Not saying he’s as talented as Neal, just that the RB advantage isn’t as big as it might look from just a quick glance at season totals. Can’t wait to watch the game this weekend, hopefully nobody gets seriously hurt and we get a few entertaining hours of football! Also would be pretty cool if you guys could humble Colorado for the rest of the BIG XII thanks!
Prediction: Kansas 38-27 for a dose of Deja vu

3:20 *BYU has had 3 (not 2) special teams touchdowns. 2 kick returns and a punt return 👍

BYU fan here. I would love the Cougars to be better on 3rd down but they often go for it on 4th. The coaches have talked about how aggressive they have been on 4th and their play calling on 3rd down to set up 4th. Field position could determine a lot in this one. BYU loves to pin teams inside the 10, get off the field in 3 plays and get it back around their own 40-50 yard line. Will be a good game imo.

Kansas is winless on the road this season. And statistically they are significantly worse on the road than at home. BYU is really good at home historically. And even better in night games. BYU has put up 30+ points against every opponent this season except SMU and Utah (both were road games against top shelf defenses).
I think Kansas is much better than their record and is capable of winning this game. But I also believe that BYU is legitimately good.
I'm picking BYU. My prediction is that BYU jumps out to an early double digit lead. The Kansas offense battles back in late but BYU holds on.
    BYU 35
    Kansas 31

Kansas hasn’t played a home game this year. At best they have been neutral site games.
KU has become very efficient at the early series scripted plays. More likely to be the other way around where altitude benefits the home team late.

3 BYU games were truly close. SMU game on the road where they won by a field goal (we know now that SMU is a solid football team), OKST where they won off a 35-yard touchdown with under 20 seconds left in the game (a true anomaly), and Utah where they won off a last-second field goal (rivalry games are always chippy and this one was on the road).
Baylor was not as close as the score indicates. BYU controlled the game but played conservatively in the second half which proved to be a mistake.
As I see it, the OKST game at home was the only fluke game. But to give some context: OKST had a bye-week the week prior while BYU didn't. They also switched up QB play which made it harder to prep for.
Don't get me wrong, KU is a solid football team and I think this will be a close game. Just seems like a lot of people are discounting BYU based on recency bias (a chippy rivalry game on the road).

Utah and SMU both have the blueprint of the type of team that has the best chance to beat BYU... top shelf defensive units that can rush the passer and still cover.
The Oklahoma St game being close was the result of a rare poor defensive performance from BYU. The BYU defense is a really good unit but they've had two bad games (Oklahoma St and Utah)

@@jkh2180I agree that BYU’s defense had a bad game against Oklahoma State but not against Utah. They held Utah scoreless in the second half and held them to well under 300 total yards for the game. Might not have been their best game but still not a bad game

@ericsteadman1073 Holding a horrendous offense scoreless in one half and under 300 yards for a game isn't necessarily a sign that you played well. Utah had no business putting up 21 points in that game. BYU defenders were consistently out of position. Lots of bad angles and tackles. Jay Hill made some extremely questionable play calls. They're a good unit but they were awful against Utah.

The 3-6 team is clearly better than the 9-0 team. I suggest mental health counseling boys. By the way, did either of you wonder if the 9 x 2 Deep injuries to ISU's defense have much to do with Kansas beating, the big wind? Yeah dont look at that fact at all brcause that fact is otrelevant to outcome right? No! 🤔🤦

We have to win this and win out to salvage this season... will keep listening to you guys and loving KU football but with each week I am sure you have felt the decrease in fans and interest.
Very interested in when the "next year" conversations and tough questions making Liepold accountable for selling the high expectations but knowing what he knew about Daniels and there was not a back up plan.
Gonna be a late night Saturday night and the logistics of traveling back to get ready for Colorado. Tough hill to climb.

You base the rush defense on one game (Ok State) and yet BYU went OTR a week later and shut down UCF, a better rushing team. Utah could do almost nothing vs BYU rushing. I think you are underestimating BYU. But what amazes me is the massive deltas between the two defenses. Kansas is #81 and BYU is #29. That's not a small delta. Then you add BYUs Special Teams. You really have two teams relatively equal in offense, but BY& is playing at an elite level in the other two phases of the game at home, and KS is 3rd quartile in the same unit categories.

    BYU 57 Kansas 10.
BYU’s defense is the best in college football. BYU will end season undefeated. They will be the undisputed national champions. They are much better than they have been playing. The Utah game they won. Rewatch the game. Utah players were cheating constantly. Lots of uncalled holds. Lots of punching. Just dirty play… there will be 2 pic 6’s by BYU and a run back from a Kansas punt, The only thing that could tap the score down is if Kalani doesn’t want embarrass Kansas.
