Wow, I see this is a year old comment. Thanks for leaving a comment back then. And I still do this today when I get new games. No hurry to learn it all day 1.
I have been trying to learn The Last Hundred Yards and I might give up learning it despite wasting hours on it reading the rules, printing my own game materials and asking questions on BGG. The rulebook for it is *absolutely* terrible even if the long-time playtesters on BGG don't see it. There are so many problems with the rulebook. On top of that the game has a ridiculous amount of exceptions and small rules everywhere. It's a laughably inelegant design. Anyway, I may abandon it for Lock 'n Load Tactical. It *can't* be harder to learn than TLHY.
Well, I agree, I downloaded the rules and sat down to learn it, and it just didn't click with me. LnL and even Old Schoo Tactical make sense and are easy to grasp. LnL has a little more crunch, but start simple with a couple of infantry and just focus on the basics, moving and shooting, skip spotting and it all starts to click. What really, really helped me was reading the infantry guide that is a free download. Super good tutorial that covers what you need to start playing. Have fun!!
Just go slow and low unit count. Focus on just infantry fire and movement and add other bits as you feel comfortable. It's not that bad and you'll find a nice system!
This is a great way to learn this system. I had all but given up trying to learn this but this idea of yours has given me new impetus!
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found this helpful. It can have a deep learning curve, but just take it a little bit at a time!
You are using the same modular learning system that I use. I find it makes tackling really complicated games easier for me.

This was a great intro video. The approach is a great idea to learn and enjoy the game. 👍
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I found that its better to learn this one just doing little bits at a time.
Hi there. Great vid. Would you recommend this over Combat Commander? Thanks :-)
great video!! just learning to play so the basics are great to learn... Thanks so much... and please more!! LOL
Thank you, I'm glad you found it useful. Don't forget to check out the free starter kits. I think it also has a simple scenario to try as well!
Thank you for the video. Ordered Heroes of Defiance, your video will be usefull! :D
I haven't played in a couple years and have Defiance and North Africa on the way. Good timing, will help me remember the flow.
excellent, playthrough should be up in a day or two!
Right on man
It's been too long :)
Great video!
Thank you very much!
@@CounterProductiveGames Grazie a te ...sto iniziano a giocare a Lock'n load (Heroes of Africa) e i tuoi tutorial mi aiutano molto Grazie
Have Day of Heroes on the table, my first attempt in the series. Need to re-read the rules, interrupted by house renovations.
That is my number one game killer, interruptions. Hopefully your renovations will be done soon enough and you can play a few games!
Same here I have to re-read the rules. Day of Heroes is my first entry in the series.
