    I have been a professional driver owning my own Bdoubles etc, and I learn't something from this, very informative, well delivered and explained.

    As for the trailer; I'd not want an MT1, I'd want a full one!!!

    It's a great video. A first-timer will need more information, like nothing much was said about the trailer baking from inside the vehicle other than the manual override to test the trailer brakes. I would like to know at what level 1,2,3,4,... should the trailer bake set while driving on-road/off-road etc. what happens at each level of brake settings. Thanks

      Hey mate, glad you liked the video! It depends on the type of brake controller you're using. Most of them increase the braking power the more you step up. The best way to do it is to find an empty flat road, with no-one around, and try each setting til you find the right one. It should definitely feel like the trailer is braking properly, without being jerky. You may need to adjust the settings depending on how heavy the trailer is - i.e. a lower setting if the trailer is empty, a higher setting if it's full of gear and heavier. Cheers Brenno

    DO NOT TIGHTEN THE COUPLING ANTI RATTLE BOLT !!!

      Why

    • @flex-ranger2
      @flex-ranger2 2 года назад +2

      @@Nathan-vb5ys because its an anti-rattle bolt when the hitch isnt in use. Its not designed to take the weight of a trailer and WILL fail. Definitely should not have been a TODO......

    What's the point of crossing over the safety chains?

    • @hammatime94
      @hammatime94 3 года назад +2

      It's to "catch" the tow ball/ hitch if it comes off. I've never seen it happen though.

      I always do it to keep the trailer central if it comes off otherwise it could trail off to the side

    • @overlandready
      @overlandready 3 года назад +2

      Several reasons, the chains can be tighter so they don't hang low and catch on things or hit the road, helps self centre the hitch in the event that it does come off, so safer and under more control as it doesn't tug to one side. Can catch the hitch so it doesn't fall too far and hit the road.

      @@hammatime94 I tow a 2 ton trailer full of formwork 3-4 days a week and I can tell you if a chain comes off nothing is going to catch anything.The cross over of the chains is only to take up the slack or droop it also has nothing to do with controlling the direction of the towed object.Like the comment from the person below yours (Hellborn Mechanic) If the ball unhitches with 2 chains connected- x over or straight your rear will follow.BUT if 1chain and hitch disconnects what ever you’re towing will have a mind of it’s own.Trust me!!!
      Please don’t take this the wrong way,I’m not a smart arse.It really concerns me that some of the size of caravans are too big for the towing vehicle to control if something does go wrong.
      Check out fish-tailing accidents the end results not pretty......Sorry about ranting on😅

      It's also because if the chains are straight, when you turn tight you may run out of length on one side, and the chain will bind. If crossed over they won't.
